“We came here with the promise of some great Coneys, and we were not disappointed. Yeah the place is a bit of a dive, but that definitely adds to the charm. The apps we had (fried mushrooms and mozzarella sticks) were delicious, but those Coneys... OH MY GOD!!! Absolutely delicious! I had 2 but I could've easily downed 2 more. So good, and what was especially impressive that every one of the 5 total that we had looked exactly the same. The consistency of the cook is often overlooked at other places, but not here. Top notch! Also, our bartender Jade (sp?) was super friendly and always on top of anything we needed. Very funny too. A little bit of humorous commentary made for an even better experience.

As I said, the Coneys are to die for, but I would also recommend the Reuben egg roll. I got one after I was finished with the dogs, and it was absolutely amazing!

Gopher Bar is definitely the place to check out if you are a Coney Dog fan. And if you're not, there's plenty of other options to try that all looked incredible when I scanned the menu. Also, and this is yet another reason to choose The Gopher, the prices are very cheap. I wouldn't have expected to get full for under $20 anywhere these days, but they certainly did it! I'm actually getting hungry again just typing this! 😅

“5 stars is not nearly enough stars for this place. I have celiac disease (severe wheat/gluten allergy) and when I saw gluten free cheese curds and gluten free fried pickles on the menu, I about cried. I haven’t had cheese curds or fried pickles at a sports bar since I was diagnosed 11 years ago. Their food is absolutely incredible- something you normally wouldn’t expect from a place like this. I’m so grateful to whoever created the menu!

It’s in the heart of downtown. This bar is an adults type place, though—wouldn't recommend bring the kids. If you're looking for a no-frills spot to grab a drink and relax, this is it. “We recently got married (October 2024) and Lake Elmo Inn catererd our wedding. It was absolutely AMAZING! We had the prime rib carving station and the walleye as well as the duck soup and salad. Our guests are still talking about the food. We decided to upgrade to the "LEI Experience" which means each of your guests get a warm hand towel, an intermezzo sorbet, and a chocolate covered strawberry!!! We were over the moon with the service on the night of the wedding and all our communication with LEI throughout the process. Special shoutout to Kayla G. who was the most patient, professional, and kind event manager! She answered every single one of my (many) questions and she did so with a smile! On the night of the wedding, we were SO impressed with how fast the servers were able to get to each of our guest tables and keep the flow going. It was seamless, seriously. We cannot recommend Lake Elmo Inn Catering enough. They've total pro's and just know that you'll be in good hands. “This is a classic St. Paul bar. Don't expect anything fancy, but what it lacks in poshness it makes up in charm. The bartenders are very nice. The patrons are mostly regulars and are down to earth and friendly. If you want to just have a drink at a good price this is the spot. Oh and if you are worried about this place not being accepting and safe, I was here to watch my lesbian sister perform her music and was with my best friend who is a drag queen. My sister is one of the regulars here and her and her wife love it.“

“Let me start by saying I love this place, but I've got some gripes. Horrendous bouncers. The bouncer on 11/8/24 was horrible. I didn't catch her name, but she had no business working her position. After waiting in line outside to check in for the concert, I decided to get a beer at the main bar, when I got inside. Upon returning to the line, she said we had to wait until all other guests got through, despite us interacting with her in the line, and already waiting our turn. Upon talking with other concert goers, we weren't the only ones she screwed. Plenty of other people were told to go back in the line they already waited in, and plenty of people missed a show they paid for. I missed 80% of the show I paid to see due to her not letting me in. Yall can do better, I know you can. I frequent this venue for concerts a lot, and this night was the worst.“
