“Our family keeps coming back to Haiku! We try other places and have realized what a gem we have in our own neighborhood. Consistently good tempura and sushi rolls! Never a wait and friendly service! Great value compared to other sushi places out there, so we can enjoy more often as a family with 2 hungry boys. We've gotten takeout several times here too.“

“This place never fails to make me feel on top of the world. I love sitting at the bar--the bartender is soooo nice and will make you a delicious custom cocktail for your specific tastes if you ask her! She's very busy though, I don't know how she does it all.Anyway, the place is beautiful. The chicken teriyaki is so simple yet so delicious. All the shrimp sushi rolls are incredible. I wish there were more non-spicy options as someone who hates when spice covers up flavor in sushi (I like heat! I don't like not being able to taste every aspect of the roll).“

My boyfriend's preferred dish is the tori don. The agedashi tofu is also good (deep fried silken tofu in dashi).I've eaten in once and gotten takeout several times. One time we were given an incorrect dish in our takeout order and had to return to get the right food. They were quick to fix the issue and polite and easy to deal with. The onigiri combo meal is a great deal!Parking: Lots of free street parking in the area.“

“Stopped here for a quick lunch and the ramen was surprisingly good. I ordered the pork belly and the entire bowl was overall impressive. I think the predominant flavor was dashi/seaweed, however the pork belly was very flavorful. The noodles came out of a package and the soft boiled egg could have used some seasoning (soy bath), but overall I honestly can't complain. The price was about as low as it gets and the service was fairly quick. The entire bowl along with a separate container of broth was nicely packaged up for transport. Overall I'm giving this place a high score simply because they are one of the only ramen lunch options accessible by skyway and the price was super low. $12 for a bowl of near legit ramen is impressive. Go for it!“

Kaiseki Furukawa Japanese

“I was fortunate enough to experience the Tuesday night 10 course kaiseki seasonal tasting menu. Each course was beautifully presented and expressed authentic Japanese flavors and textures that reflected the spring season. The staff were attentive and accommodating. For example, noticing that my wife was left handed the staff set up her table setting to reflect that. That has happened to her only one other time. A small thing for sure, but reflective of the care and attention to detail that was put into everything. Kaiseki Furukawa provides an elegant dining experience from the dinnerware to interior design. I’m already looking forward to my next visit.“

The sushi arrived quickly and was super fresh. I got 2 spicy hamachi rolls, 2 spicy tuna rolls, and a miso soup. The soup was good but nothing to rave over, and rolls exceeded my expectations. They were fresh, tasty, and a good size. I even packed some for lunch the next day (still tasted great as leftovers) and the rice stayed soft too! Try the chicken steam buns! They are so delicious, they have a bbq sauce that can't be beat. I also ordered the fried rice with yum yum sauce, and edamame with the mango green tea. The service was fast, the cashier was friendly, and this is a great place for take out. Heads up, they sell bottled water but don't offer it in on tap.“

The food is OK, it's just that some of the food looks a bit off, but it's edible and delicious at least for me. 2 people for nearly 45 dollars isn't that bad. “Restaurant was empty when we got there and packed within 30 minutes - all the tables were reserved. With it being such a small spot I definitely recommend making a reservation when possible. Our waitress was absolutely wonderful, she was detailed and helpful in answering our questions and recommending drinks. We got a mix of sushi, thai, and ramen, all of which were equally delicious! You could really tell the food was freshly made and of great quality. I recommend trying the thai iced coffee as well if you are up for a cold, sweet, umami drink. A word of the wise for those of us a little less accustomed to asian spice (if you know what i mean...) - please don't lie to yourself about how much heat you can handle, the spicy ramen is SPICY. The “level 3” heat we ordered was a lot. Do yourself the favor and get a 1 if possible and ask for some of the hot sauce on the side so you can add it in to your liking. My friend was absolutely humbled. He was all but in tears. I have never seen his face so red. I think our waitress got a real kick out of this as well (she did try her best to warn us about The Spicy, so it was all in good fun) ? Overall, a great little spot. We'll be returning for sure!!“
