“Alright, so after a few visits, here’s what I’ve experienced:

Smash burger is amazing; it’s basically all I’ve ordered for at least 8 visits now.

Seven out of eight visits have been great, with just one exception.

Here’s why they don't get the fifth star:

Seat Yourself is fine; I don't mind it. However;

I came in with two business associates I had told about the awesome smash burger.

It was full on a Friday 07/17, with nowhere to sit. The heat of the day was gone, and the patio was in the shade.

We were standing awkwardly while waiting for a table, and not one staff member said hello. I asked if we could sit on the patio and was told no, even after I pointed out it wasn’t that hot anymore, there was shade, and no seating inside. It felt like I was told it wasn’t my problem and was blown off.

So, I can only assume this place is so successful that they don't bother with customer service and make so much money that common-sense solutions to problems in making that money don't matter to the owners.

Also I was a little embarrassed that happened after I talked the place up.

“The meat part of my burger was delicious, cooked medium and flavorful. The brioche bun was too sweet for my taste. Salad was decent, good blue cheese dressing. My only real quibble is that I asked for no raw onion on the burger and it came loaded with them. Service was efficient, if unsmiling.“

“It's good food, and the service varies due to time of day, day of the week and possible holidays. I just wish they also had Mountain Dew Voltage. And a better selection of NA Beer. At every location. There's no way I'm going to go to everyone and leave a review.

“I love to take my family for dinner at Apple bees, and other places around have been a disaster, but Fridley location it has impress me a lot by the way I was welcome at the entrance the server and the chef ! DULCE was very attentive checking on us if we needed anything else and if everything was good, and can't complain I wish other restaurants count with her example of customer service! And the chef Patric he was impressive the way he cook my meals and decorated our plates , we order steak and salmon but the rest of restaurants cannot compare to the level of detail and delicacy on our food! “We had so much fun here for my husband’s birthday. We went as a family of 5. The gal who was taking care of us overheard us wishing him a happy birthday and threw in free donuts which were delicious. The margarita was one of the best I’ve ever had. Everything was great!“

“1029 and Smack Shack started the food truck movement in Minnesota. They paired up back when this all started in 2011, we came out shortly after.

As always their food is amazing. We always get the Mac and cheese and shrimp.

The decor is pretty typical Nord East bar atmosphere. Very eclectic with a few bras hanging from the ceiling.

“A classic Saint Paul neighborhood bar, with simple grub yet so affordable, a mix of Asian and American. All served as takeaway but you can eat it there if you want and the portions are gigantic. Locals are the majority of the clientele but for all its grittiness, it's a safe place with patrons who care about the establishment! Watch out for the parking lot. It's a dirt lot minefield of potholes that will destroy your transmission of you go faster than 1 mph.“

“Love the new space. Digital signage said burgers were $3 on Wednesdays. They were $4. Still tasty and a great deal, but update your sign. I sat for 10 minutes and watched the server take a picture of people at a table and chat with her friends. Never came near my high top table. I finally went to the bartender (very nice) who took my drink and food order. Server swung by 10 minutes later (20 minutes after I sat down). Told her I ordered from the bartender. She never stopped by after that. I was there for 45 minutes, saw her interact with her tables twice. Service was pretty scarce. 2 or 3 staff sitting in a booth. If the bartender hadn't been awesome, I would have left. Burger and onion rings were good.“

“Great food and excellent service. The atmosphere needs an overhaul specifically the lighting. tables and chairs. It's way to bright and the ceiling is too high and visually needs to be lowered with something decorative. Comes across as a big room with bright lights.“

“Please Do NOT host any organization that promised to start at 8 pm but they started around 9 pm. I talk about Magic Hunks. And right after 20 minutes they started they started to sell another ticket for 30 minutes. I am extremely disappointed. It is Sunday night and l never though l will get disappointed in this level.“
