“Food is hot and fresh but VERY bland. Almost no hint of seasoning. Strangest carry-out place I've ever been to. You talk through plexiglass and a LOUD speaker blasts unintelligible unseen voice back at the entire room. A little awkward waiting for your food there. Only diner was very nervous and suddenly scooped up his half-eaten meal and went to his car with it.“

“The owners are nice and welcoming. We stopped in for carry out and it only took about 20 minutes to order and get our food. We ended up getting the sweet and sour beef, sweet and sour pork ribs, beef bulgogi and crab rangoon. Everything tasted amazing! The sweet and sour dishes were not overly sweet which is what I was expecting. I will be going back for more.“

“This is by far the best experience I’ve had at a Chinese restaurant, and specifically one that serves true Szechuan cuisine. We came in not knowing exactly what to expect, but what we were treated to was something far beyond just a good meal. It was an experience—one I’ll be thinking about for a long time.
We were welcomed in with genuine kindness and seated almost immediately. The servers were attentive, but more than that, they felt like they actually cared whether or not we enjoyed our food. The drinks came quickly, and not long after that, the table was filled with dishes that looked, smelled, and tasted like they came from a chef who really knew what they were doing.
The moment I bit into the Chongqing Chicken—crispy, spiced, and dancing with that signature Szechuan tingle—I felt like I had been transported somewhere far away. The Dan Dan Noodles were packed with flavor and had this nutty, spicy richness that wrapped around my tongue in the best way. I don’t think I’ve ever had tofu as tender and flavorful as the Mapo Tofu here, and the fish in chili oil was something else entirely—so soft it melted the moment it touched my mouth, surrounded by a spicy broth that made me close my eyes for a second just to take it all in.
I was reminded of the power of food to carry memory and culture—how something cooked right can make you feel things you didn’t know were still somewhere inside you. I would highly recommend you come to this place to feel what I felt at that table. It’s not just a restaurant. It’s a taste of a different world—one that stays with you long after the meal is done.“

“I've had my fair share of Americanized Chinese food across the Midwest, and I can't say that I've ever been particularly impressed...until coming to Taste Place. I stopped by with a friend for an early Saturday dinner, and we were seated immediately, with our steaming plates of wonderful food arriving shortly after. My friend got their sesame chicken dinner combo, which she said was perfectly seasoned and had just the right levels of crispiness and crunch. She subbed out the eggroll that comes with the combo for their hot and sour soup, which she greatly enjoyed along with the fried rice. I went for one of their "special diet" menu items (which I appreciated that they had), and it was pretty standard -- steamed tofu with a heaping helping of vegetables, as well as what seemed like a giant bowl of oyster sauce on the side. The true star of the night, though, was their sesame balls. I'm usually really picky with sesame balls, but they did a phenomenal job at this place. Fried to perfection, but not overly greasy, with the perfect level of crispiness and minimal sweetness. Also, at $6.99 for 10, the price is really unbeatable. I definitely wasn't expecting to get dim sum-quality sesame balls at the Columbia Mall, but Taste Place really did not disappoint.“

“ordered pickup and pleasantly surprised how good our food was! we got a variety of chicken dishes.. Fried rice, lo mein, stir fry, and a couple appetizers like crab rangoon and spring roll. everything was hot and delicious! one of my favorites was also the hot and sour soup. i will definitely be back!“
“This is the best Panda Express I've been to in the country. Because of all the students, the food is freshly made like every 5-10 minutes. So you get it hot off the wok. Not to mention the teriyaki chicken + super greens is probably the healthiest thing you can get on all of campus while still hitting your protein macros.“
