My 9 year old son and I love going to Taste Place. They have great vegetarian options.
We have tried many chinese restaurants in Columbia. In our opinion, Taste Place is one of the better ones. Their hot and sour soup has a great taste and is not just broth it is loaded with tofu, mushrooms and vegetables. The egg drop soup and wonton soup is very good as well. If you are looking for a taste of regional Chinese cuisine… this is the place! Be bold, be adventurous and try something from the traditional menu (I’ve uploaded a full menu 6/26). This restaurant feels like it belongs in a Chinatown in New York, Philly or San Fran. IMO, it’s about 50% Sichuan/Chongqing region flavors with the remainder split between Dongbei region and Xi’an area fare. Based on reviews, Taste Place Asian Cuisine and HOTPOT is a vibrant restaurant offering a wide variety of authentic Asian dishes and customizable hotpot options. Ingredients are fresh and flavorful, and the menu caters to diverse tastes. The only Chinese Cuisine that is authentic but don't taste like a lot of MSG. Popular meals include General Tso, Mongolian Beef, and the Szechuan dry pot with fresh tofu, wood ear mushroom, cabbage, bean curd skin, and rice noodles. The ratio between portion sizes and prices are quite affordable. Staff are friendly, attentive, and very welcoming, providing excellent service. The restaurant is located near the middle of the plaza making it very easy to get to. Ideal for family meals, group dining, or a date. Also has carryout as well as online ordering which pairs well with their rewards system. The place is definitely worth a try.
