Wine & Food, service, atmosphere are all outstanding at this hidden gem in St. Louis.

First, as a wine bar this place excels. The owner seems to have a particular gift for finding unique, superior quality, yet affordable wines. Everything I’ve tried here has been not only excellent but also a fantastic value. A bonus is the often changing selection, providing return customers with a fresh palette of offerings.

Second, the service is unparalleled. The staff know their wine, know their offerings, and can happily point you to something fitting to your tastes. They’re happy to provide a sample to make sure you’re happy. Besides being knowledgeable and helpful, the staff is professional, yet charming and engaging.

Third, the atmosphere is comforting. In colder months the wood burning stove lends a charm that can be found no where else in St. Louis. The bar is a great place to meet new friends or catch up with old ones, while the side room with couches and table, and the small wine shop attached, are nice spots to gain a little quiet privacy. If that’s not enough, the outside garden in the back is great outside option.

Fourth, the food. So it’s a wine bar primarily. Or is it? The food here seems almost an afterthought but is so good. Everything I’ve tasted here (Goat Cheese Tart, Poutine, Crostini, BLAT, Meatballs) have been as good as anything you can find anywhere in the city. The pasta special rivals anything you can find on The Hill. The food should not be overlooked.

Come for the wine, or the service, or the atmosphere, but stay for the food.“

“The Crossing Restaurant did a remarkable job the other evening when we dined there. We had impeccable service and outstanding food. I loved being able to do the four course meal with some of the specials. It was wonderful to see the dining room full in this well-established restaurant in the heart of Clayton. I remember being wowwed when I first dined at The Crossing 25 years ago and it is still just as fabulous! We cannot wait to return.“

“Chuck A Burger reminds me of a fast food place back in the sixties. They have no dine in option but the service and food is top notch. I don't think any fast food option offers a better tasting burger. Every burger is made to your preference. Fries are also great. “This place is great! The food was delicious - they know the difference between a hard scramble and bad eggs for sure. The bacon was perfectly crispy without being hard or burnt. The avocado was fresh and the BLT Benedict is a new favorite. The cheese grits were tasty and super cheesy, and I don’t even particularly care for grits. They were a bit busy and a little understaffed, but that just shows how good a place it is.“

“Had resv for 4:00 on a Sat, got there at 3:25 asked to sit at table to get drinks, told we could, then someone else said no since r resv wasn’t until 4:00. Said we could sit at bar but all tables in bar were taken! Freezing cold inside, put 7 of us at a table that would hold 10-12 people had to scoot down to other end to try and get warm. Food finally arrived way later than those around us! No one in the rest. hardly but we couldn’t sit at a table till 4:00. Not very friendly about it! Food not impressed with! Will not go back, done!“

When our younger son and his family fly in from California, their first stop after leaving the airport is Lions Choice. “We visited the Art Museum last week and then had lunch at The Panorama resturant at the suggestion of a friendly person we met earlier at the Half and Half in Clayton. This person told us about how great the brussel sprouts were at the Panorama and so we had to try them and they were fabulous. All of us, including my mother, who is 88 years young, thoroughly enjoyed the meal. We set next to the large wall of windows and the sun shone perfectly, lighting the room with a beautiful warmth. The server was excellent and the menu becons our return.“

This place has been around forever (since 1977 I think) and for good reason. If you want a Chicago dog, this is the place to go. Also, the Maxwell Street Polish, the Signature Double Cheeseburger and the fries are great. I haven't tried the Italian Beef yet, but I'm confident I'll like that too. The inside is very small - I think there are 12 seats. And I wish it was open later than 5pm. But it is definitely worth a visit.

“We were in town (from the Twin Cities) for the 2025 President's Day Classic, and had Hogtown Smokehouse cater a team (and parents) dinner for 30 in our hotel. Rico was fantastic in helping us out. Quick to respond to calls and emails. Gracious, and just wonderful altogether... and that's just the service. The food? The empty pans, told the story. Brisket, Turkey and Pork for meats. Mac & cheese, potato salad and beans for sides. EVERYTHING was amazing! I never right reviews, but Rico and staff deserve this one. If you're reading this, don't hesitate to give them a try. “Hidden gem! It's like eating at your favorite, sweet grandmother's house. Hospitality you just dont see anymore... before we even ordered they brought out a Mickey Mouse pancake for my 2 year old. Tracey was great and played with my kiddo so mama can actually eat... Sandy cooked everything to perfection and was very personable. Prices are VERY reasonable... so no guilt for eating out in this economy. It seems they have ALOT of regulars. 100% our favorite new breakfast spot! They even offer 10% off the bill, just ask them! Can't say enough great things... we love you guys!“
