“Our waitress was friendly but a bit overworked. The Italian Wedding soup was horrible. No flavor, no Italian sausage and full of barley. The roast beef sandwich was good but had wilted greens on it and we didn’t like that. The ham and cheese sandwich was good. The atmosphere was a bit noisy.“

“Hidden gem! It's like eating at your favorite, sweet grandmother's house. Hospitality you just dont see anymore... before we even ordered they brought out a Mickey Mouse pancake for my 2 year old. Tracey was great and played with my kiddo so mama can actually eat... Sandy cooked everything to perfection and was very personable. Prices are VERY reasonable... so no guilt for eating out in this economy. It seems they have ALOT of regulars. 100% our favorite new breakfast spot! They even offer 10% off the bill, just ask them! Can't say enough great things... we love you guys!“

“In town for a few days and decided to have breakfast at this family owned restaurant. At first, the place looked closed because no one was on the parking lot. Once inside, we ordered our food and people started to arrive. Food and service was good with great customer service. Prices was very reasonable. No complaints.“

“I never have a bad experience when I go to this location. In my opinion the employees here hands down give the best customer service. My most recent experience was with Destiney. She was very pleasant and patient. She checked all the boxes (welcomed me, repeated my order for accuracy, suggested additional items, and recommended a sauce she thought I would enjoy). “The quality of our local steak and shakes have significantly improved along with the staff. Much cleaner, tastes better, and even seems more filling than it used to. On top of that the new company policies like banning microwaves, beef tallow for their fried goods, and grass fed beef for the burgers. It went downhill a while ago but I can definitely say it has done a complete 360 and has honestly been one of our families favorite quick fast food locations now. Definitely better than McDonald's.“

“I had one too many bad experiences with McDonalds and it sent me to this burger shop. Chuck A Burger has converted me. This burger joint is faster than McD, tastier, healthier, and cheaper. With an included $3 tip, you can get a single cheese burger with everything, regular fries, and their bigger milkshake. All with real ingredients, faster than it would take you to receive the same thing from the drive thru. Their shake machine has never been broken. My order has never been wrong. A+, two thumbs up. Their single patty burger is comparable to a Quarter Pounder. Try it for yourself.“

“Update: Just got our food and its amazing! I dislike pancakes and they have the best pancakes i have ever had. We ordered the blueberry and banana and they were cooked into the pancakes as well as in top.
We will definitely be back and eat here again, hopefully the wait isn't too bad next time.

“We go to Yellowstone Cafe every time we are passing through St. Louis. The Walleye fish dinner is their speciality but all their fish dinners are excellent. In our party our order consisted of Crabcakes, Frog legs, and of course the Walleye.
Three nights a week they offer a kids special platter for 99 cents! What a bonus for parents. Their French fries are very good! The Green Goddess dressing is excellent on their house salad.
The atmosphere is casual, so come as you are.“

“The food is great and you get a good bang for your buck! It doesn't look it but this Chicken Rice bowl in HEAVY! It comes with broccoli, green bell peppers, and onion! They use a short grain rice which isn't my favorite but it complements the dish well! The flavor is great too! “Too many superlatives tend to make a review sound insincere, but Black Mountain truly deserves the highest marks in all regards.

Wine & Food, service, atmosphere are all outstanding at this hidden gem in St. Louis.

First, as a wine bar this place excels. The owner seems to have a particular gift for finding unique, superior quality, yet affordable wines. Everything I’ve tried here has been not only excellent but also a fantastic value. A bonus is the often changing selection, providing return customers with a fresh palette of offerings.

Second, the service is unparalleled. The staff know their wine, know their offerings, and can happily point you to something fitting to your tastes. They’re happy to provide a sample to make sure you’re happy. Besides being knowledgeable and helpful, the staff is professional, yet charming and engaging.

Third, the atmosphere is comforting. In colder months the wood burning stove lends a charm that can be found no where else in St. Louis. The bar is a great place to meet new friends or catch up with old ones, while the side room with couches and table, and the small wine shop attached, are nice spots to gain a little quiet privacy. If that’s not enough, the outside garden in the back is great outside option.

Fourth, the food. So it’s a wine bar primarily. Or is it? The food here seems almost an afterthought but is so good. Everything I’ve tasted here (Goat Cheese Tart, Poutine, Crostini, BLAT, Meatballs) have been as good as anything you can find anywhere in the city. The pasta special rivals anything you can find on The Hill. The food should not be overlooked.

Come for the wine, or the service, or the atmosphere, but stay for the food.“

Said we could sit at bar but all tables in bar were taken! Freezing cold inside, put 7 of us at a table that would hold 10-12 people had to scoot down to other end to try and get warm. Food finally arrived way later than those around us! No one in the rest. hardly but we couldn’t sit at a table till 4:00. Not very friendly about it! Food not impressed with! The avocado was fresh and the BLT Benedict is a new favorite. The cheese grits were tasty and super cheesy, and I don’t even particularly care for grits. Do not recommend if you ever want to eat. I have never walked out of a restaurant like that in my 42 years. it was terrible“
