“This food was delicious. I had a salmon with freshly grilled squash, peppers and mushrooms. It was the first time I had ever been there and really enjoyed it. It is probably more of a takeout place than a sit and eat place as there were only narrow counters along the window wall, but they did a booming business while I was there. I highly recommend it“

“Went to Kreis for our anniversary with 4 other people and enjoyed the night. The food was outstanding Everyone had something different and said the same thing. “It is my daughter’s 16th birthday today and we made a reservation at their sister restaurant Bristol’s awhile back. It’s her favorite place to go because of the fried cauliflower. We got a call today and they had a fire so they couldn’t open but graciously made us a reservation at j Gilbert’s. My son got sick so I had to stay home but they called me and said they made her the fried cauliflower that she loves at Bristol’s tonight at j Gilbert’s!! My family said everyone is being so nice and definitely made my daughters night!! Thank you so much for all you did to make her 16th so special!! You guys are amazing!! I can’t thank you enough!!!“

This was my 4th or 5th trip to this location but the first I had heard that HH was limited to a section in the restaurant.“

“Celebrated our grandson's 11th birthday at Bugatti's. Sarah (I believe I'm correct) was our main waitress. When she found out it was a child's birthday she came with balloons to put on the table to make it festive. She gave us (a party of 9) a great table kind of off by itself. The food was served hot and was very good. They had special child sized steaks with fries. The wait staff was very patient and attentive and made us feel welcome even though with three 11 year olds it got a little boisterous at times. We enjoyed our food and birthday gathering. “Having lived in St. Louis for many years, I'd driven by the Charcoal House hundreds of times. But, never had the opportunity to eat there. My spouse surprised me by making a birthday reservation. The restaurant is a friendly throw back to a by gone era. Picture walking into a nice steakhouse from the late 60's to early 70's. It's no frills, but very clean and well laid out. There's a nice sized bar to enjoy a cocktail if you have to wait. The menu is straight forward, with a nice selection of fresh steaks and seafood. Wine and drinks were very generous pours. The special for the evening was rack of lamb with a rosemary sauce. It was excellent, cooked exactly right to medium rare. My spouse had the salmon. It was also cooked perfectly. Dee, our server, was phenomenal. She always had a smile, was pleasant and extremely attentive. You could tell she genuinely cared about our dining experience. I've read a few reviews complaining about how the menu pricing has risen. To those folks, I'd say get used to it. Covid changed everything. Dining out is not cheap anymore. Food and people costs have gone through the roof. I found the pricing to be very reasonable, considering the quality of the meal and the service. Family owned places like the Charcoal House are going by the wayside every day. It's a great place just to sit at the bar, enjoy a cocktail or two with an appetizer if you're on a tight budget. You won't be disappointed.“

“Our family of 6 had an enjoyable experience here tonight! The service was top notch, very attentive and respectful from the management to our waiter, Chris. Less than a 15min wait at 6:30 on a Friday which was nice. Chicken and ribs were falling off the bone and juicy! The lobster shrimp soup was so good, too. Steak was a little dry than what ordered but overall everyone was satisfied and taken care of! Our kids asked when we could go back.“
