“Southbound Bar and Grill, I salute you, and I thank for providing a stage for American Aquarium to exercise their craft this past Saturday night. They rocked the place loud and hard. They played a fantastic set, and the crowd, obviously very faithful followers, ate it up. I have attended shows at various venues in Springfield, but I have never seen anything like the rock and roll show American Aquarium put on at Southbound Bar and Grill. I drove 365 miles from Fremont, NE to see the show, and I would do it again, so please bring them back soon. Your club is easy to find, offers free and easy parking, great food and drinks with prices that are in line with other venues in Springfield, and a staff that provides excellent service at every level. I highly recommend the Southbound Bar and Grill. They are a great live music venue.“

“Went here with family who are regulars and was immediately impressed with the warm greetings and lively atmosphere this place has. Amanda was incredible, and knew everyone and what they drank, and was quick and eagle eyed on customers and keeping them fed and cold drinks.

Food was giant proportions and delicious. Fried mushrooms were Beer battered and hot, the 13 Seconds burger was great, with a hard sear but juicy on the inside.

Highly recommend if your looking for a location that takes you back to CHEERS!“

“I used to LOVE this place. The vibe was amazing, the KJ had personality, and the songs kept rolling so fast that they had the next singer on deck before the previous song was over. Tonight for my birthday, my husband and I decided to stop in since it had been a while. We walked in to a god-awful song that wasn't fast at all but when I put in Cold for my husband,the KJ refused to even consider it claiming that it wasn't upbeat enough for a Saturday night. I assured her it was a crowd pleaser but no luck. We swapped the song for a faster one and couldn't help noticing as we sat there waiting how much business had fallen off from the last time we were in there. Throughout our wait, we observed as the KJ played full length songs in between each singer and sat and talked with friends, went to get herself a drink, and generally didn't do anything to move the singer list along. After more than an hour waiting when we had been told there were only 16 singers, I went up to check how far we had progressed in the list. She told me that there were still five or six more singers to go before I was up. At that point I asked her if she was even using a list and she assured me she was although I had just watched her go through and check names off willy nilly and not in any kind of order. At that point, I was frustrated enough to let her know that what she was doing was not acceptable for a KJ on a Saturday night. Rather than apologize and work to fix it, she adopted a whining petulant tone that reminded me more of my 7-year-old than a grown adult who had just screamed out "f*ck you" lyrics on the song she made sure she got into the lineup and then proceeded to tell me how it wasn't her fault because she was "trying to fix the sound." The sound was fine. There was nothing wrong with it other than the fact that she clearly didn't know what she was doing. Beyond being a frustrated patron who sat for an hour and wasted my money at an establishment where I didn't get to sing when that's the intended purpose at a karaoke bar, I listened to numerous patrons discuss how things had declined. I listened to staff who have said they don't understand why the owner is letting this go on so long. I heard two different servers state that they will be leaving because they can't make money there anymore since she's been the KJ and the bartenders admitted it's been hurting them too. The purpose of an establishment like that is to make money. I don't know what the deal is behind keeping a KJ that doesn't bring in customers but the logic isn't working for me. She's running off customers and ruining the income for your bartenders and waitstaff. She has taken a place that used to have a 30 to 50 person singer list down to 16 on a Saturday night and still can't manage to figure out what she's doing wrong. All I know is this: if she's not willing to learn and improve and she's driving off customers, and the owner isn't willing to fix the problem, there's no way on this earth I would ever recommend this place again.“

This past week marked our first visit to Metro and it was phenomenal . The “Dapper Dan” and “Basic Ben” were outstanding, and the service provided by Reza was exceptional - he was attentive, friendly, personable, and just a well rounded server. “My husband and I celebrated our 43rd Anniversary at Char last night. Everything was wonderful, in my opinion!! My steak was cooked as requested since I'm on a low sodium diet. The Char salad was so much better than I expected! Our server, Justin, did over and beyond to make our dinner a great time.“

“I love a place that is willing to make their customers happy, I was looking forward to going here for their Neapolitan pizza but the first pizza left a lot to be desired, they said they would bring us out another pie and they did and wow was it night and day to the first one. “I don’t recommend this place at all! Worked here back in 2013 on the restaurant side and for no reason (or should I say some bs reason), banned my husband from coming in there. He didn’t come in when I was working nor did he ever cause any trouble when he did come in. The owner at the time and the other employees just didn’t like him. That tells me a lot about little towns. Food back then wasn’t even all that great! Haven’t been back since I quit and will never go back there! I hit no on do you recommend but it says that I recommend this place. Not going to the trouble to redo my post!“

“My daughter found this out-of-the-way gem with her college friends, so we had to try it for MSU Family Weekend. She was right - great food, great service! We arrived 10 mins before the kitchen closed, but not a problem. All our food - burgers, hot ham and cheese. pork tenderloin, battered fries - was great, but the tuna steak was AMAZING!! A nice surprise!“
