“I can't complain our food was fantastic, service was superb. You don't have to hunt down your server for refills. Most of the time they sneak in and drop off a fresh drink without saying a word. I had ask my husband do you think the chef has a Michelin star? The food was that phenomenal!!“
“Pretty laid back place. A few pool tables, dart boards- covered patio, and the night I went they had an awesome one man band playing. The bartender- Cliff- was on his toes and really did a great job keeping up with the crowd and always had a smile on his face. All in all a great first impression was made.“
“We found this bar while passing through on vacation. Walking into it was like walking in to "Cheers." We were welcomed by the locals and felt right at home. Our first beer was on Gunny--his policy for newcomers. Grace the bartender was friendly and attentive. She took us on a tour of the outside patios. So nice! We wished we had more time to spend there. We're putting this bar on our list of places to bring friends when traveling through again. What a great find!!!!!“
“We are very picky about crab legs, my husband especially!! This place did not let us down. When we went, they had a $50 all you can eat special (my husband got). They did have specific rules you had to follow (no wasting, 1 hour limit). The food was soooo good and the service was fantastic. I gave 4/5 stars on the atmosphere because it is pretty small location, definitely difficult to deal with if you have a larger party. Pictured is the $40 plate. Especially love that you get to pick from different seasoning choices. We will be back soon!!!Kid-friendliness: Multiple kids meals options, not just sea food.“
“This is one of Springfield‘s best restaurants. The food is excellent and it is a very large restaurant so it’s easier to get a table. It’s a little loud near the bar but other than that it’s a wonderful experience.Parking: Parking can be a little difficult to find as there are other businesses near it, sharing the same lot. The regulars tend to make spots near the front door, which make it difficult to maneuver around happy hour.“
“Not too long ago I read an article online about “Hidden Gems in Springfield Mo.”. Considering we live there I knew several of the places names however this was one I had not heard of before. Today my wife and I were driving along and stumbled upon Pappys Place, so we decided to stop and see what it was all about since the name stuck with me as one I had read about. Let me say first and foremost. When you pull up and park you immediately know that this is a place that people have probably been coming to for forty years no matter what other food choices may be available in town. It’s small, quaint and inviting. Absolutely loaded with rich history and that is something you can feel right when you walk inside! We were very graciously greeted by our waitress and seated on the patio as requested. She was amazing throughout our late lunch. She was at our table just the right amount. There is a science to that in my opinion, being there too much or not enough can be frustrating. We looked over the menu at our options and as we did she gave a few recommendations for us to consider as we looked. The menu is not huge and I can appreciate that, big menus can also get tiresome. Once we placed our order the wait wasn’t long at all. When we got the food…… wow!!! Absolutely amazing food. You won’t get any frills at Pappys, what you will get is a heaping plate of food that screams “this is Americana!!”…… A little off the beaten path. As it should be, sometimes a trip down memory lane in a place that obviously been a host to many many good times! We love this place and we will absolutely be returning! I’m fact I would t mind becoming a regular. The BBQ is down home style made by someone in the kitchen who has a passion for food. I really can’t rave about Pappys enough. Since my moving to the area this was by far one of my top three places I would eat again. Also they have live music on Friday nights starting in March!!! We will for sure be attending those events. My hats off to Pappys Place and the stellar food, service and atmosphere surrounding this hidden gem!!!“
“I love this bar - bartenders are sweet as hell & the atmosphere is relaxed & welcoming. I'm a single woman & I feel extremely safe coming here alone. These ladies have your back. The karoke djs are very friendly & supportive. I even popped my karoke cherry here ?!! LolCan't praise this bar enough tbh ❤️❤️❤️“
“Not sure if it helps or hurts to say I’m from San Diego and this place rivals some of the best tiki bars in California. The atmosphere is fantastic, the food is good, but the drinks are soooo yummy! Classics are done well, if not with a twist, and many new-to-me drinks that hit the spot and are kind to the wallet. Above it all, the service is beyond reproach, friendly and knowledgeable. Putting on my must-come-back list!“
“This is a very cozy, comfortable place to get a few people together. Prices were fair and our server was excellent. Will certainly be back.Parking: Parking downtown is a nightmare. Luckily I found a spot one street over and only had to walk a couple blocks.“
“Clean place, heated patio, friendly bartenders, karaoke leaves a bit to be desired. Don't expect to hear music between singers. They will play just enough of a song for you to get into it before calling the next singer up leaving you disappointed. Still a fun place to hang out.“
“Loved our visit. Very trendy urban look with exposed brick walls and rough wood timbers and old hand tools for decor. The drinks were served in mason jars, and the food was amazing. We had the crack bread appetizer which is delicious, particularly the maple balsamic dipping sauce, the maple bourbon glazed petite fillets, and the prime rib sandwiche. Both were so good. Will definitely return next time we visit.“
“We thought the service was a little slow at first... It was lunch rush hour and there were a few big parties when we first arrived, but then things picked up for us. The whole staff was super friendly and efficient! Good was very good. Lots of options. A little on the pricey side for lunch, but we did get appetizers and shared a dessert.Parking: We parked in a lot about half block away. There is also street parking which was crowded due to time if day.“
“We got fried mushrooms as an appetizer and they were to die for 10/10 I loved the fried mushrooms, also got the Chicken Hawaiian Club it was huge but so amazing and very much worth the $12 and a plus was the staff was amazing and so nice to us 10/10 experience will definitely be going back “
“Stepchilds is like a perfect picture of Springfield at any given time. People from all walks of life come to this bar for a good time. Wealthy people, Boogans, and everything in-between. This is one of the greatest bars in Springfield for that reason. Not to mention the insanely low drink prices and karaoke DJ's that actually do karaoke the right way. Stepchilds is a place you have to spend a whole night drinking at, to truly understand the nuances that make it so amazing.“
“Beautiful February night with my two favorite bishes! Food was fabulous. Drinks were on point. Our server Elias (sp?) was 100 out 10. I mean he was everything and made our night perfect. I forgot my phone on the patio and had to go back after I gotten to my car and he got a flashlight to help look. Go, you won't be disappointed!“
“One of the my favorite bars/hotspots ever! It’s both a place to come after a long day to have a drink by yourself as well as coming with a group. Patrons are welcoming and kind. But what takes the cake are the bartenders, they are on their game always, sweet personalities and hardworking individuals!“
“One of my favorite little pub-style bars in Springfield. Good vibes ✨️They don't serve food, but allow you to cater in your own if you want to. Cool shuffleboard game as well as pool tables. Have a drink and take a load off ?“
“Eleanore was a ray of sunshine on a cloudy day. Not to be confused with the Beatles song that was rather gloomy. She was the most fun and down to earth server of drinks I’ve experienced in the town of Springfield Missouri. I will be back! POCKET SAND “
“Had so much fun! I didn't know anything about this place except the name but there was singing, dancing, comedy, all locals dressing up and doing what they love and making us love it too! You have to go at least once, if not every weekend!!“
“The absolute welcome feeling you receive as soon as you walk in, that my friends is a true dining experience from the beginning. Then to top it off, a very relaxed, unpretentious yet knock your socks off, great atmosphere! From the owner, to the amazing chefs, and super attentive servers. The food is definitely upscale, 5 star flavor with a wear your leggings and sneakers vibe. Thanks for making this new comer from Louisiana, feel so welcome. This is now my go to place.“
