About Sassafras

Sassafras offers two dining options: a grab-and-go cafe with baked goods, and a fast-casual counter-serve restaurant serving soup, salad, sandwiches, and burgers. The cafe had a long line during a visit to the Japanese festival, while the restaurant did not. The potato leek soup was flavorful but very salty. The atmosphere is cute, making it a recommended choice over festival food vendors.

The brunch offerings include a Belgian waffle with pecans, fresh berries, syrup, and whipped butter, served with a side of fruit. The prices are reasonable, around $10. The garden setting makes it a convenient option without leaving the area. The employees are welcoming and accommodating. The children's Belgian waffle is a satisfying choice for a light meal, accompanied by butter, syrup, chocolate sauce, whipped cream, and fresh fruit.

The cafe is wonderful and beautiful, with affordable prices, fast service, and a unique, aesthetically pleasing interior. The staff, including Ms. Tiffany, are hospitable, friendly, and accommodating, especially when customers visit with their children. The dining room and patio are kept very clean, and the staff is incredibly helpful and friendly.

Sassafras is the perfect place to stop for lunch after exploring the Missouri Botanical Garden. I ordered the Turkey BLT, and it was outstanding—perfectly crispy bacon, fresh ingredients, and excellent flavor. The service was fast and friendly, and eating in such a beautiful, relaxing setting made it even better. Five stars all the way!
I love this cafe! It is so tremendously helpful to have a wonderful cafe within the Garden, so that you can pause for lunch or a snack when spending the day there. They have a small but excellent menu of soups, salads, and sandwiches, always with at least one vegan and several vegetarian options. Whether you sit inside or outside, you have stunning views of the Garden, which is lovely. Highly recommend!
I really like the TURKEY SANDWICH. Seating is a bit hard. Thank YOU.
