Taste of Jiangnan is a restaurant that offers a diverse menu and super-friendly servers in a beautiful, very clean setting with lovely ambiance, nature paintings, ambient music, and booths in the corner. The food is exceptional, high quality, fresh, and authentic. The restaurant can get absolutely packed, but guests are seated in 20 minutes. The staff are super friendly, attentive, warm, and thoughtful, and they helped pack all leftovers into containers. Servers had English as a second, third or fourth language, which was endearing and a certificate of authenticity. The manager brought a dish of meatballs for free and asked whether a dish wanted it made from scratch. The edamame and mustard greens along with the cumin beef were served first; the beef was tender and delicious with just a little heat, and the edamame was more nutritious than tasty but a lovely complement to the Yu-Shang eggplant and the fish filet with peppers. Other dishes include Shanghai Bamboo Soup, braised duck, Pork Shank, steamed pork in lotus leaf, beef with Hangzhou peppers, dry pot cabbage, string green beans, scallion noodles, spicy crispy chicken, salted duck, dry pot cauliflower, braised pork belly with little buns, Shanghai Bok Choy, Cold dish-Duck(sweet), Clay pot Chicken and Chestnut, short ribs, sticky rice and lotus root, scallion oil noodles, and fried rice. The portions were generous. This place is legit, and if you are in STL and don’t come here at least once then you are missing out.
