“Best Mexican food I’ve had in Mississippi. Incredibly authentic. Not your typical chicken cheese and rice place……Delicious and fresh!! The tacos and the pollo cemitas are my favorite! Red and green hot sauce always hits! Try julias!!!!“

“I ordered eggplant parmigiana , hubby spaghetti w/marinara sauce
Eggplant sliced thin , stacked with cheeses and a good basil sauce. Hubby liked his entree, also . Had glaases of pino noir. Generous pours for $8.00. New server. Had a couple questions she couldn't answer but should have asked so she can know for other customers. She was very sweet.“

“Good homemade country cooking at an affordable price. The food was hot and tasty. The restaurant has an old feel but everything looks updated. Blend of cultures can be found here. Lots of parking in the back for truckers. And the severs were mostly friendly.“

“I ordered menudo to go. Flavor was good however serving was full of hoof bones and only 6 pieces of tripe. I would recommend adding yellow hominy to the pot and send a couple warm corn tortillas along.“

“Tokyo Restaurant in Laurel absolutely blew me away from the moment I sat down to the moment I left, completely stuffed and completely happy. I ordered a sashimi platter, and it was honestly one of the most beautiful plates of food I’ve ever been served in Laurel.
The presentation alone deserves its own round of applause – a generous variety of sashimi laid out over crisp greens and shredded carrots, with cucumber cut into gorgeous decorative slices, fresh ginger, and wasabi tucked in just right. Every piece of fish was silky, fresh, and perfectly cut, with that clean ocean flavor and melt‑in‑your‑mouth texture that you only get when a kitchen really cares about quality. As someone who works with food every day, I pay attention to details like knife work, texture, and temperature, and Tokyo absolutely nailed it.
Their menu is huge in the best way, and you can tell they’ve built it to give Laurel true Japanese comfort food and hibachi experiences all in one place. They offer a long list of classic and specialty sushi rolls, sashimi, sushi bar dinners and boats, plus hibachi dinners with chicken, steak, shrimp, scallops, lobster, and combination plates that come with soup, salad, fried rice, noodles, and vegetables. There are also teriyaki and tempura dishes, Japanese fried rice, noodles, and even kid’s hibachi options, so literally everyone at the table can find something they love.
The service matched the food, which says a lot. Everyone was very nice, welcoming, and incredibly accommodating the entire time I was there. Questions were answered with a smile, and they made sure everything came out exactly the way I wanted it without ever making me feel rushed. It’s the kind of relaxed, genuinely friendly service that makes you settle in and really enjoy your meal.
On top of all that, Tokyo is one of the few places in Laurel where you can get both a full hibachi table experience and high‑quality sushi and sashimi in one spot. Whether you’re craving a stunning sashimi platter like I had, creative rolls, or a sizzling hibachi dinner, this place needs to be on your regular rotation. Tokyo Restaurant just became one of my favorite spots in Laurel, and I’ll be recommending it to everyone who asks where to go for an amazing meal.“

“This was a very low lit calm setting. The food selection was amazing. Could use a few more sushi items but it worked. I would recommend this place to anyone and their family to go. Plenty of parking especially for my 18 wheeler which probably isn’t always due to how good this place is big rig parking may or may not be available.“

“I came over here on Tuesday and liked it so much I came back to work in Laurel again today just so I could eat here again.
The pulled pork sandwich has great smokey flavor and the barbecue sauce is just enough to keep it moist without taking away from the taste. French fries and corn nuggets were good, but mid.. The fried okra was among some of the best I've had.
Great place to eat. And everyone knows it because I had to wait in line for 20 minutes just to order. Well worth it.“
