The service in this place is a 20. Everyone from the front greeter to the bus person, 3 waitresses…oh my, we just can’t say enough about them all. EVERYONE mentioned asked us several times if we needed anything. Our food was hot and delicious!!! The Toastery made us feel comfortable and like we were a grandmas loving home during the holidays. “The vibe here is amazing! I love a double entendre so walking in to see a sign that says “meat here” with a giant arrow instantly gives me the giggles! The multicolored decor and cool artwork made it hard to do anything but keep smiling. As soon as we’re seated our waitress says “I love your earring and all your jewlery” and I was smitten. I took my jacket off right as she was brining our food. “I love your tattoos” she says and I’m falling in love with this place. The cheesin steak sandwich is smothered in cheese, the wings are crispy, our appetizers came out fast and hot, and the atmosphere was great. I was having such a good time I didn’t even mind the watered down, chunkless blu cheese. You won’t either I promise! My husband and friends notified the waitress it was my 29th birthday to which she replied “29 would have never guessed your 29!” and I’m a little shocked. The thing is it was 13th 29th birthday so I reply “ and how old did you think I was?” I’m expecting a 35 or 36…. She says “24!” I laughed so much and said “I’m actually 42” and it was her turn to be shocked. “Pros - food was delivered to the table quickly, staff were friendly and engaging, burger and hotdog were good, and order of fries is large enough to share. Slaw was fresh and made in house and even the onions appeared freshly diced. Suggestions for improvement - Ordering system at the entrance creates a gridlock as folks are entering, exiting and attempting to get drink refills, Carolina style hotdogs and burgers DO NOT include beans in the chili. ketchup and mustard on the tables would be nice. We would not have had any ketchup if we had not ordered fries. Chicken and dumpling soup was flavorful and seasoned well but, southern style dumplings are generally not thick and clumpy balls of dough. Roll them out and slice them thin and you will have a hit. We will return - I want to try the squatch burger.“
