Mountain Layers Brewing Company Brewery • $
90 Everett St, Bryson City

“Have to leave this place a review since I've come here almost every day.

I only tried one of their beers because I'm not an IPA guy and kinda fussy but they had a Mexican lager option that was perfect for the summer heat and boy is it enjoyable. Crisp, light, but flavorful. I can only assume that whatever they brew that's in your flavor wheelhouse is equally as good.

The adjacent food truck SLAPS so hard we ate their twice in two days here. Food was up and down in Bryson City being a small town but they are top class.“

“My family and are I are extra thankful this year for the kindness and generosity of Jeff and Pam Pulley, the owners of Mountain Perks Espresso Bar & Cafe. Two weeks ago, my kids and I came to Bryson City to ride the Polar Express train with friends. GPS said I was only .5 of a mile away from my destination, but my car got stuck on the rocky road on a very steep mountain and I had no cell service. Turns out I inadvertently got lost very high up on the mountain (later we would found out I was 20 minutes away from the house we were staying). My kids and I walked to the nearest house that had a light on, and by the grace of God, Jeff and Pam took us in and helped us. Jeff and his neighbor, Keith, also got my car out of the ditch I backed into, and my kids and I were still able to make the train ride. Jeff and Pam didn’t have to open up their door and help three complete strangers, but they did with open arms. Jeff and Keith didn’t have to get my car out, but they did. Let this story remind you that there are truly amazing people in this world; Jeff and Pam (and Keith) are angels walking among us! My kids and I visited Jeff and Pam at their coffee shop the next morning, and let me just say, their food and coffee are delicious! I highly recommend going there if you are ever in Bryson City, and they are located right across from the train station!“

Heavenly Fudge Coffee Shops • $
225 C Everett St, Bryson City

“I have been going to Heavenly Fudge since I was a kid 15 years ago. It was always one of my family's highlights when going to the mountains. Now, as an adult, every year for my birthday we make the 2.5 hour trip just to get some Heavenly Fudge. It's nostalgic for me I'll admit, but I can't understand how anyone could say the fudge is bland. I've personally never had that experience, and like I said I've been there a lot.

My personal favorites are the chocolate, chocolate pecan, and peanut butter fudge. They melt in your mouth and are fabulous with a glass of cold milk on the side. The mint melt aways and chocolate turtles are also delicious.

A word to the wise where the dry comment was mentioned. As soon as you get the fudge home put it in a zip lock bag and let as much air out as possible. Keep it wrapped in the paper you're given. This keeps it moist for up to a week while you enjoy it.

I'll keep coming back for Heavenly Fudge year after year. The Fudge Shop down the street ain't got nothing on it. The customer service is great and they are always willing to let you sample. This small family business is a one in a million find.“

“Hey all. My wife and I brought our two year old twin boys to Bryson City for the second year in a row for the polar express. We tried Bryson City Brewery already, but for reasons that need not be mentioned, we wanted to look for a different family friendly spot. Gave you guys a try tonight and man. What a great experience! The Santa, kids karaoke, holiday drinks and the grinch?!? Come on! That is how you do a holiday family friendly bar/restaurant experience in December! Santa was so welcoming. Karaoke was super fun and the grinch stole the show! Thank you guys!! We will absolutely be back!“
