“My wife and myself have never been to Captain Larry's. To be honest, we went to the old Captain Larry's and the place looked so bad from the outside, I did not want to go inside. I can attest that things are VERY different now. The place was very clean, quiet, and decorated very good. The staff was very nice and attentive to us. The food was great!!! I ordered a NY strip steak, and the flavor was fantastic. It was cooked a bit over what I ordered, and the waitress pointed it out even before I saw the steak. She offered to take care of it for me. I told her not to worry about it that it looked fine. The Hushpuppies were some of the best I have ever had, and I grew up on the coast. We will be returning soon, and sure we will enjoy it the same way.“

“I will be the first person to say Captain D's usually doesn't impress me. Perhaps, I have judged them all unfairly against my experience at one. That being said, this one in Laurenburg, NC was amazing! We ordered our food and drinks, I went to wash my hands and when I got back to the table our food was ready. Less than 3-4 minutes from order to table. This has not been my experience previously at other locations. Our food was hot and delicious 😋 the staff was friendly and prompt. I'm glad we are moving to the area and I will get to come here more often! Thank you for changing my mind!“

“Let me start by saying I love a small town, and I love supporting black owned businesses. This place quenched my thirst for both. I really enjoyed the vibe of this place. It's a family business with a husband and wife cooking. They said it gets busier around 1pm-we were there at 11am. I ordered the seafood platter. IT WAS SO MUCH FOOD! You choose the fish you want, which is fresh on the ice, and they fry it up. For $12 I got 2piece whiting with 1 piece flounder,shrimp,fried oysters,hushpuppies, French fries, and Cole slaw. I had enough leftover for dinner. The batter was light and crunchy. The oysters were delicious and I usually don't like fried oysters. I couldn't give them 5 stars bc the hushpuppies were too greasy, and they didn't have a cover over their sweet tea and lemonade.“
