“Ortega'z - what a GREAT gem! Heard about this restaurant on Guys Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives; and boy, it not disappoint! The pulled pork nachos appetizer was absolutely HUGE and AMAZING! YES, all caps is necessary. We also ordered two entrees - fish tacos and also Buffalo chicken tacos. Both came with 3 tacos, and rice and beans. Everything was so delicious and the portion sizes were great! Great prices for the amount of food you receive. Oh, and the service was great also! Will be returning very soon!“

“We visited the OBX and stayed in Manteo in an AirBnB (with a dog), so we did takeout most of the time and just ate it at the house. Top China came up as being near us, so we looked at the reviews and were a bit wary. We tried to order from there on Sunday night, but they were closed. They were closed also on Monday and finally, we found them open on Tuesday. The food was much better than we expected because we were judging from the lunch menu pic on Google, which didn't seem to have very much. Their actual menu is much more extensive. The restaurant is a hole in the wall and is family run. You can see the parents cooking in the kitchen and the daughters run the register. There was no AC when we went and the front door was propped open. I don't know if this was because the AC wasn't working or if the business was trying to save money. In any case, most customers appeared to be ordering for take away. I would order from this restaurant again.“

“Happy to find Stripers on our way home from the beach! The staff was super nice and the food was really great 😊 we loved the fresh halibut served with tacos and fresh veggies and the mimosas were tall and tasty! Dining on their patio was dreamy on a sunny day taking in the marina and ocean breeze! And they treated our dog Max like a king! Thank you!“

“Not certain what's up with all the negative reviews. We brought our dog in for a respite from the heat and was welcomed and served right away....well, he was served first, lol. Normal size scoops of delicious fresh-made ice-cream. He got the deluxe pup cup. Prices seemed pretty normal to me. Im certain if you get the Dubai Chocolate that'd be a different story, so watch what you order! Highly recommend!“

“This place is super cute and well decorated. It’s adorable! We loved the self serve bar with frozen yogurt, gelato, and sorbet. They have unique flavors and tons of toppings. It’s really well priced. I got a full cup for $5. They also have ice cream cookie sandwiches. I highly recommend this place!!“

“Stopped for the ice cream fell in love with the cookies. The ice cream is from a NC creamery and I recommend the Lemon Crunch 🍋 But the cookies are a blessing for your taste buds. I got the coconut cookie and my husband raved about the white chocolate macadamia. I wish we had tried this sooner... but it's 10 miles down the beach 😆“

“I had been following the FB page prior to our visit and was super excited for our ice cream and coffee based off the photos. What I did not expect was how cute the place was going to be- my kids were obsessed with the slide and playing!“

“We returned to the Outer Banks last week after a 20 year hiatus, remembering Tortuga's Lie as one of our favorite places to eat. We ate there on the second night of our stay and no one in the family was disappointed. I had the grilled salmon salad special and coming from a tough critic, it was DELICIOUS and did not disappoint! Everyone enjoyed their meal and the "vibe" was just the same as we remembered. We can't wait to visit again.“

I have never enjoyed waiting for a table more!…sitting outside under the gazebo on the deck that stretches into the sound, wonderful outside bar (try the Chocolate Martini!), and Yacht Rock over the speakers. We could have stayed out there all night and been content. However, I would be remiss if I didn’t say how great the food was inside, and the service was impeccable. (Richard was our waiter, and he is a GEM! Excellent service like he extended to our group is a lost art.) Can’t wait to see you again next year!“

Our waitress,Ashley, was so helpful with assisting me with selections that were safe with my gluten allergy. 5:30 PM on a Saturday evening, they were quite busy, but we had no wait for a table for two. They offer vegan and gluten free items, plus turkey sausage or bacon instead of pork. We can’t wait to eat there again on our next OBX visit!“

When we went, there was a sign stating no shakes. The parking lot is small. They have plenty of picnic tables to enjoy your meal.“

“I’ve been coming to the Outer Banks for 30 years. I remember getting the best burger on the OBX at this restaurant. Apparently they have stopped serving food. That is not the issue. I called up to ask if they no longer serve burgers, and was told “this isn’t McDonald’s”. I don’t appreciate being spoken to that way from a worker of a restaurant I want to spend my money at. If they can’t train their staff to have better customer service, I cannot imagine how poorly they treat customers at the restaurant. Very disappointed.“
