The fried green tomatoes were probably the best we’ve ever had— I’ll be having dreams of those. And the coq au vin was tender and had wonderful flavor. Also huge portions for what you pay for. “Ortega'z - what a GREAT gem! Heard about this restaurant on Guys Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives; and boy, it not disappoint! The pulled pork nachos appetizer was absolutely HUGE and AMAZING! YES, all caps is necessary. We also ordered two entrees - fish tacos and also Buffalo chicken tacos. Both came with 3 tacos, and rice and beans. Everything was so delicious and the portion sizes were great! Great prices for the amount of food you receive. Oh, and the service was great also! Will be returning very soon!“

“We visited the OBX and stayed in Manteo in an AirBnB (with a dog), so we did takeout most of the time and just ate it at the house. Top China came up as being near us, so we looked at the reviews and were a bit wary. We tried to order from there on Sunday night, but they were closed. They were closed also on Monday and finally, we found them open on Tuesday. The food was much better than we expected because we were judging from the lunch menu pic on Google, which didn't seem to have very much. Their actual menu is much more extensive. The restaurant is a hole in the wall and is family run. You can see the parents cooking in the kitchen and the daughters run the register. There was no AC when we went and the front door was propped open. I don't know if this was because the AC wasn't working or if the business was trying to save money. In any case, most customers appeared to be ordering for take away. I would order from this restaurant again.“

“Not certain what's up with all the negative reviews. We brought our dog in for a respite from the heat and was welcomed and served right away....well, he was served first, lol. Normal size scoops of delicious fresh-made ice-cream. He got the deluxe pup cup. Prices seemed pretty normal to me. Im certain if you get the Dubai Chocolate that'd be a different story, so watch what you order! Highly recommend!“

“This place is super cute and well decorated. It’s adorable! We loved the self serve bar with frozen yogurt, gelato, and sorbet. They have unique flavors and tons of toppings. It’s really well priced. I got a full cup for $5. They also have ice cream cookie sandwiches. I highly recommend this place!!“

“Stopped for the ice cream fell in love with the cookies. The ice cream is from a NC creamery and I recommend the Lemon Crunch 🍋 But the cookies are a blessing for your taste buds. I got the coconut cookie and my husband raved about the white chocolate macadamia. I wish we had tried this sooner... but it's 10 miles down the beach 😆“

“I've been coming down to the Outer Banks every November for the past 32 years. Somehow I had never ran across this gem. The coffee and ice cream are perfect. We really enjoyed the malt. I also thoroughly enjoyed their specialty menu for The Fall season! We went several days and enjoyed the view, everyone that we met who worked there was great! We loved the swanky seating, the eccentric seating, and the overall beauty of this place! HIGHLY recommend checking it out!!!“

“We returned to the Outer Banks last week after a 20 year hiatus, remembering Tortuga's Lie as one of our favorite places to eat. We ate there on the second night of our stay and no one in the family was disappointed. I had the grilled salmon salad special and coming from a tough critic, it was DELICIOUS and did not disappoint! Everyone enjoyed their meal and the "vibe" was just the same as we remembered. We can't wait to visit again.“

We walk in and tell him our names and we immediately get a seat, I got the ny strip and it was amazing it was cooked perfectly also right when you walk in you will see the steak on the grill right behind the glass which was really cool“

They offer vegan and gluten free items, plus turkey sausage or bacon instead of pork. We can’t wait to eat there again on our next OBX visit!“

“Had a really excellent brunch style breakfast...pancakes, French toast, eggs, bacon, hash browns with bananas and whipped cream on the side. Wow. Everything was super. The hot sauces are great too. Outstanding service even though the place was crowded. My only complaint is the place is kind of cramped and noisy but that's obviously how their customers like it!“

“We arrived to OBX before our house was ready, so we decided find a place for lunch. We decided to try Dune Burger. The burgers were delicious along with the onion rings. When we went, there was a sign stating no shakes. The parking lot is small. They have plenty of picnic tables to enjoy your meal.“
