“We recently were in Ocracoke for 3 weeks and had the best time ever.Beach , shelling then at 3 o’clock it was off to Dajio’s for shrimp and cocktails….( dinner some nights) . The staff are THE BEST …….serving the best food and of course cocktails,Chris was our server most nights , he’s a great guy and we regarded him as a friend by the end of our vacation. So much so he and other members of the staff sighted a t shirt I bought because I wanted to have their names with me every time I wear it . The bar staff are fun friendly and can pour a dam good drink . I would recommend Dajio over anything on the island ( apart from Pony for breakfast) ….we miss you guys 😘😘😘😘😘😘😘🍸🥰“

“Ocracoke Coffee Company is one of those rare island businesses that feels deeply woven into the fabric of the community. Having been part of Ocracoke for more than 30 years, it has become a daily ritual for locals, and a must-visit stop for travelers. It’s also currently for sale, and the existing owners are carefully vetting potential buyers in the hope of finding someone who will preserve and continue this long-standing island tradition rather than change what makes it special.
The coffee program is a standout, offering premium fresh-roasted coffee along with expertly crafted espresso drinks like lattes and americanos. They also feature creative specialty flavors such as the Trail Mix and Grasshopper, which add a fun twist to the classic café menu. For something lighter and refreshing, the fresh fruit smoothies are made with real fruit and 100% fruit juice with no added sugar, and they can even be upgraded with a double shot of espresso for an energizing island treat.
Their bakery is another highlight, with bakers starting before dawn to prepare a rotating daily selection of up to 18 items. This includes muffins, scones, organic donuts, croissants, and their famously indulgent giant “Cinn-a-YUM” buns, plus at least one gluten-free option each day. Everything feels fresh, generous, and made with real care.
The atmosphere is just as memorable as the food and drinks. There’s comfortable indoor seating, free Wi-Fi, and a spacious pet-friendly outdoor yard shaded by star jasmine, making it an ideal place to linger. Even during the busiest morning rush—often between 8:00 and 10:30 AM—the staff stays friendly and efficient, and the line tends to move quickly.
In the evenings, the café transforms into the MiniBar on the front porch, typically open from about 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM during the season. It serves espresso drinks, beer, wine, hard seltzers, and snacks, and often hosts live music, trivia nights, and karaoke, giving it a lively community feel after sunset.
Seasonally, operations shift with island life: during the main season (late spring through early fall) they’re open daily from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with Sundays closing early at noon. Shoulder season brings reduced hours, and the shop closes entirely during the off-season from December through March.
Altogether, Ocracoke Coffee Company isn’t just a coffee shop—it’s an island institution, and the hope is that its next chapter continues that same spirit of community, consistency, and care.“
