“Love Scoops!Parking: It's a little tight on the main road, but the owner has created plenty of parking off the road.Kid-friendliness: Lots of things to see. Interesting metal art pieces and walking paths. This is a great place to visit, especially when you're traveling. Get out, have some ice cream and take a break, take a walk through the woods. There's a dog park and everything.“

“My sister and I stopped by because it was open and I’ve heard such good things! It did not disappoint! We had the hot chocolate which was rich and creamy and tried a “Christmas tree cake” custard sandwich. The custard was AMAZING and the cookie was perfect with it. We will absolutely be back!“

“Stopped to compare their cheeseburger to O’Dell’s. It was excellent. The slaw was slightly sweeter at Dairy Center and the chili was more flavorful. I liked the toasted and mashed bun. We had one with chili, mustard and slaw, and another with lettuce, tomato and mayo. Service was fast. Only six booths for dining-in and it got a bit loud, but there is plenty of memorabilia on the walls to check out. Prices were very reasonable. We decided the Dairy Center cheeseburger was the best in three places we tried in Mt. Airy.“

Hillbilly Ice & Creamery Ice Cream Shop • $

“The signs on the wall are worth stopping in for by themselves. We heard the peach moonshine ice cream was worth trying but sadly we were disappointed in it. They do have Hershey ice cream which means they have green mint chocolate chip which is to die for!“

“A fun blast from the past spot to grab a bite in downtown Mount Airy. It's nothing fancy but we wanted lunch so we got a burger and sandwich. My burger was good. Nothing special but I didn't expect it. Frozen patty was good size and it's served with onion, lettuce, tomato, pickle and mayo. It was hot and fresh. My husband liked his sandwich a lot. He added lettuce and tomato, which we recommend because otherwise it's a little light on the meat and may not satisfy your appetite. The fries were the frozen crinkle cut variety but were crispy, hot and fresh. The star of this place are the hand mixed sodas. You could get any combo you want and I bet they would all be really good. This is a great option that's not available many places so we definitely took advantage of that. I chose an orange pineapple soda. My husband wanted a sasparilla but they were out so he ordered a fresh orangeade instead. His was really good too but we both liked mine better. Some other customers ordered milkshakes that looked amazing! I'll have to try those next time for sure. The service was really friendly and fast. It's a true mom and pop place. We had a great lunch and enjoyed the conversation from the owners too!“

Sweet Frog Ice Cream & Frozen Yogurt • $
1448 Edgewood Dr Ste 100, Mt Airy

“I swung by sweet frog since the weather has been heating up and I was expecting it to be a nightmare with COVID but it was actually a decent and safe experience. All the yogurt machines worked and they had a good selection (at least 10 flavors). I've been to other Sweet Frog locations and a common problem is the sugar-free/vegan options don't get the same amount of upkeep, but I was happy to note that the Mt. Airy location didn't have this problem! The toppings bar seemed fairly clean and the fruit actually tasted decently fresh. Gloves were also provided to touch the equipment and serving spoons so the overall environment made us feel good about our visit. The real pros of this location are that they provide a pretty consistent experience, I've never had a problem with quality, and they stay open until 9 pm which is late for Mt. Airy. They are also worth following online because they constantly have seasonal and holiday promos as well as offers where they work with other local businesses. And who could forget no weigh Wednesday? The cons are that the shop is pretty small and seating is super limited and if you accidentally stop in when they're busy parking won't be fun, the self serve experience will be annoying and don't expect to be able to get a seat and enjoy your treat. The biggest aggravation from my last visit that was I wanted to see the nutritional chart which is at the beginning of the yogurt line and a family came in and didn't distance and instead stood right beside me huffing and tapping their feet waiting for me to grab my yogurt and get out of their way. They could have gone around me, but for whatever reason, they didn't. That isn't so much the store's fault but the atmosphere here is usually someone letting their kids run around and scream, people impatiently trying to push you through the line, or a large group of people taking up all the seating. I've had experiences here on slow days that were super enjoyable, but it's hard to always know when their slow hours will be. Overall, the store is definitely clean and friendly and the yogurt is definitely worth the price, but the other patrons usually don't ever make us want to stay and eat our yogurt. This isn't really the business's fault that they're popular, but it can get pretty annoying.“
