“A single scoop of ice cream in a cup set me back a whopping $6. So value is not a word associated with Kilwins. Probably why it's only my third time here in 25 years. But I will say that their ice cream is pretty darn good. I've never had Rum Raisin before, cuz it's something only my grandparents would eat. But since I'm over 50 now, I thought I should try it. I mean, who like raisins in their ice cream? Sounds weird... but I liked it. So kudos on converting someone to a lover of Rum Raisin ice cream. “We were visiting Hanging Rock from another town and this restaurant was recommended to us. It is family owned. Much of the food is fresh and homemade. Portion sizes were amazing (big). It was so good, we went back twice.The hamburgers were large, juicy, and flavorful...hand pressed. Crisp bacon. The corn nuggets were delicious like a fried corn pudding. The salad was fresh with homemade dressing. We also tried the catfish nuggets...Best catfish I've ever tried. The coleslaw was top notch. “Great gelato place right next to Hanes Park! Cisca, the owner, is one of the nicest and personable shop owners in town and loves to chat with her guests. Growing up in Winston, my family and I would always walk to the shop to get a sweet treat in the summer, and even with me growing up and moving away, Cisca still remembers me and we chat whenever I am back in town. Dinning in, kid friendly, I love the low walls for privacy dinning but also low enough when standing you can monitor your child getting a napkin. I have also brought my special education students to this location to practice ordering, paying and behaving in public. The walls allow me to monitor all my babies but also give them some independence.
