“The best barbecue anywhere. Would you consider opening a restaurant in Georgetown SC. There isn’t a barbecue place in this town and really need one.“

“On my birthday last night , we chose to celebrate by going out to dinner at another local restaurant. What made this restaurant stand out was that they cooked their food right in front of us. A kind man politely asked us to switch seats with him so our kids could have a better experience. We were a group of seven seated with a lovely local family of three. We enjoyed conversations about sports and other topics. At the end of the night, we were delighted to discover that our bill had been taken care of ($343.24). We were sitting with the owner of College Barbecue! We regularly visited Salisbury to watch my niece play basketball at Catawba College. We are new to the food selection in the area.I'm excited to eat at his restaurant on my NEXT visit to show my appreciation. Random acts of kindness are still having a significant impact on the world. It's wonderful to know that great people still exist. THANK YOU TO THE OWNERS OF COLLEGE BARBECUE. BE KIND“

“I grew up in Salisbury and lived there well into my adulthood. I live in Columbia, SC now but when I come back to town to visit my Mom, one of my favorite places to eat is at Checkered Flag. They’re food is really good but the hard working ladies who serve the customers is what makes it great. They take the time to talk to every customer at every table and it’s not just chit chat. They really want to know how you are and what they can do for you to make your visit perfect. They treat everyone like family but for those of us who come back again and again, we become family. Even for me, an out of towner, I even know two of the hard working ladies, Angela and Jen. Angela showed her hard working team spirit yesterday when, Jen, our server, was tied up with her other tables. Angela stepped in and took our order until Jen could get back over to us. This example of teamwork becomes contagious and I’m sure that Jen has done the same thing for Angela and all of her co-workers. Jen is such a joy to be around. Her personality oozes charisma and warmth and she makes you feel truly special because that is who she is!! I heartily recommend Checkered Flag for their great food and and their even greater people!! I rate them 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ and 5 hearts!! ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️“

“A quaint little shop selling local baked goods and brewed coffee. The vendors are always local and a different vendor is offered each week. A few local artisan wares, clothing and cute decor. Two tables outside next to Mamma T’s to enjoy the baked goods and/or coffee. Definitely check out this business when visiting Gold Hill!“

“Very packed Friday night birthday dinner. Son wanted a steak. Took 30 minutes wait but service was great. Quick with the appetizers and drinks. We had NY strip and a sirloin with red rock shrimp. Great flavor and tender. The salad we had was the freshest lettuce and the best tasting ingredients we have had in a while. It was refreshing to have a superb fresh salad before such a good meal. Kudos to the chef. The spinach and cheese appetizer with the pita bread is great. Fresh loaf of hot bread starts things off. So good. We will def come back when they are less busy tho.
Parking: It was a very busy night and the staff did a great job communicating the wait time with us. Our waitress Kayla Jo worked her butt off while we were there. Great job gurl 💪👏👏👏
Kid-friendliness: Lots of families with kids here tonight. No issues tho. Plenty of white noise.
Wheelchair accessibility: I did notice it was wheelchair accessible but the exterior doors open outwards so be aware. It's a bit tight quarters when busy in the front vestibule and hostess station.“

“Rockwell is out of the way. Darrell's BBQ is one of the best reasons for going out of one's way. Portions are generous. The servings are fresh. The wait staff is very cordial and helpful, and not all about the tip. (I know that, because I also took a to-go order, forgot to tip on it, and went back an hour later to correct that oversight. The waitress said that she never noticed. That said a lot to me. Of course, I tipped, as I had intended.
Parking: More parking behind the building than in front!“
