10 Best Barbeque Restaurants near Rockwell

“I had chopped pork tray w/tater salad and pasta salad. The waitress was wide up but she kept up good and our food came out quickly and hot. The place was full for Saturday lunch. Probably the best tater and pasta salad I've had. I even got to go orders of them both as I had BBQ left over. The BBQ was a huge portion, it was moist and chopped, not chopped or ground to a powder like other NC BBQ I've had. Reason for the 4 star on the food is though the BBQ was moist and there was a lot of it, it lacked a smokey flavor or any taste of having any rub or seasoning on it. I don't eat pepper vinegar(my analysis of NC BBQ sauce) so having a sweet sauce or some other sauce to choose from might be nice. I'm not knocking it, it was the most moist tender BBQ I've had with no sauce or seasoning. I will most definitely stop in again and bring my own sauce or rub to sprinkle on my plate.

The atmosphere was awesome. The walls are covered in NASCAR die cast and memorabilia. Took me back to a much simpler time and a time when I loved racing. Thanks for that! Thanks for a hot taste meal

“On my birthday last night , we chose to celebrate by going out to dinner at another local restaurant. What made this restaurant stand out was that they cooked their food right in front of us. A kind man politely asked us to switch seats with him so our kids could have a better experience. We were a group of seven seated with a lovely local family of three. We enjoyed conversations about sports and other topics. At the end of the night, we were delighted to discover that our bill had been taken care of ($343.24). We were sitting with the owner of College Barbecue! We regularly visited Salisbury to watch my niece play basketball at Catawba College.We are new to the food selection in the area.I'm excited to eat at his restaurant on my NEXT visit to show my appreciation. “I grew up in Salisbury and lived there well into my adulthood. I live in Columbia, SC now but when I come back to town to visit my Mom, one of my favorite places to eat is at Checkered Flag. They’re food is really good but the hard working ladies who serve the customers is what makes it great. They take the time to talk to every customer at every table and it’s not just chit chat. They really want to know how you are and what they can do for you to make your visit perfect. They treat everyone like family but for those of us who come back again and again, we become family. Even for me, an out of towner, I even know two of the hard working ladies, Angela and Jen. Angela showed her hard working team spirit yesterday when, Jen, our server, was tied up with her other tables. Angela stepped in and took our order until Jen could get back over to us. This example of teamwork becomes contagious and I’m sure that Jen has done the same thing for Angela and all of her co-workers. Jen is such a joy to be around. Her personality oozes charisma and warmth and she makes you feel truly special because that is who she is!! I heartily recommend Checkered Flag for their great food and and their even greater people!! I rate them 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ and 5 hearts!! ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️“

“A quaint little shop selling local baked goods and brewed coffee. The vendors are always local and a different vendor is offered each week. A few local artisan wares, clothing and cute decor. Two tables outside next to Mamma T’s to enjoy the baked goods and/or coffee. Definitely check out this business when visiting Gold Hill!“
