The choices for a grab and go meal as well as a heat and eat at home were great. I chose an eggplant parm and salad greens to drop at a friends for dinner and a panzanella salad for lunch. But my favorite are their pantry items, do not miss the bacon or the house made crackers! And the Marshmallows!“

“I love this bakery and have been buying sourdough bread here for a couple months. I usually get the country sourdough loaf which is baked up as an artisan boule (and they’ll slice it if you request). They also sell sourdough as a traditional sandwich loaf. Loaves of sourdough cost about $6 with tax. The bread is delicious and it’s real sourdough made with only sourdough starter (no commercial yeast) and fermented over hours.

They also have other types of artisan bread and pastries that are not sourdough.

Get there early as they have been sold out by noon on the couple occasions I arrived later.“

“John F has single handedly saved my first experience at the GPI. My 2 kids and I have traveled across country from Wisconsin to Chapel Hill after packing up my childhood home for a month after my parents passed away. I was exhausted after a 9 hour drive to Asheville and decided to book a room here as a special treat. When we arrived it rained and despite accepting the pouring rain we didn't get any sympathy or help except for John who listened to me rant and bought me a glass of wine. Terrific fresh-ground coffee, creative breakfasts, sandwiches, salads (I love The One with Quinoa and Butternut Squash—yes, that is its name). “This was a great little stop for lunch for my family; a classic carry out. We were looking for a good burger and found it. The burgers were thick, lean, patties that are grilled well. Their fries and tots were crisp and golden on the outside, soft on the inside, and actually tasted like fries and not oil. The restaurant was easy to find, plenty of parking, with a pretty fast drive thru. We ate in and had space for 7 of us. Our food was done fast and well. We weren't given a thrown together mess like some carry outs tend to give. Everyone here was very nice and friendly and the service was great!!“

“I'm so pleased with my decision to stop at Well Bred for lunch instead of just ordering my usual shortbread cookie! I ordered a grilled BLT on a croissant with mayo, and it was scrumptious! The croissant was so soft, buttery, crispy, and fresh, and the bacon was thick, with lovely fresh tomato slices. It came with a side, and I chose chips. Of course I had a shortbread cookie for dessert! Heaven! The kind gentleman at the counter delivered my meal to me at a close table in Grove Arcade. “I have to shout out this awesome crew at @panerabread on tunnel rd Asheville. I had a client tonight that really wanted dinner after giving birth. No where was delivering to the hospital because it was too close to closing; and the cafeteria at @missionhealthnc was closed.
I called Panera as I pulled out of my parking spot; 17 minutes to closing time. They couldn’t take an order over the phone- typically corp wants to push the use of the app. Wished me luck on making it.
The manager called back to clarify what I needed and where I was coming from. Let me know that if the door was locked when I pulled in to call and he would let me in, wished me luck. I was called a third time from the store and they said that they decide to take my order anyway and would make sure to wait for me. ❤️
I pulled in 4 till closing, they neatly packed the food for the new mama and fam, and we got cookies for Labor and Delivery.
