“My husband and I have been coming here since they opened. It’s one of our favorite places in Omaha. We are extra happy that our kids love it too! Our favorite is the vegetarian combo and the gored gored platter. My kids love the yellow and green lentils the most as they have the least amount of spice. Omaha is so lucky to have such a great place to enjoy!“

“I've been looking forward to this place opening up ever since hearing it was on the horizon. Took my mother and fiancee to dinner over the weekend. They are definitely still working out the kinks. While the food was great, we found the service pretty lacking. Our waiter was nice, but not attentive. (While dining, we noticed another table actually got up and grabbed a water pitcher to refill their glasses because their waiter hadn't). To be fair they were very busy, and seemed to be short staffed. Understandable. It took a while to get our order in. We started with drinks and an appetizer. Two of our 3 drink orders came out, but then it took another 10 minutes or so for our 3rd drink to arrive. When our entrees came, again only 2 of the 3 arrived, and another 10 minutes for the 3rd entree to arrive. The food was tasty. The stand out was the butternut mac. Very good, but also a pretty small portion for the price. It seemed more like a side than an entree. I ordered the seitan pork chops. It was really good but the menu said it would come with mashed sweet potatoes, and it came with regular mashed potatoes. Also the side of brussel sprouts was literally 4 halves, pretty stingy. The apple slaw was really good. My fiancee ordered the fried oyster mushrooms, which was delicious once it finally arrived, but again took a while to come out and only once we followed up with a staff member. Also, it was missing the biscuit, and once that was eventually brought out the biscuit was cold in the middle, like it had been frozen and wasn't fully thawed out.
So overall, we liked the food and found they were still very much in the growing pains of a recent opening. I'll definitely give them another shot and update my review with my experience, because I really want this place to succeed.“

“I had the pleasure of visiting for the first time for brunch today, and I can confidently say the service was amazing! Our waitress was phenomenal—I'm so sorry I don’t remember your name, but I truly owe you more for making the experience so memorable. Highly, highly recommend this place! The food was absolutely astronomical, and the drinks were perfect. The coffee was out of this world, too—hands down the best meal I've had in a long time. The overall atmosphere was so comfy, cozy, and relaxed—it’s the perfect spot to unwind. I’ll definitely be back!“

“My wife and I were in town for the "Beyond Van Gogh" exhibit at the Mid-America Center. Afterward, we looked up restaurants near us and chose La Sierra because several reviews mentioned authentic cuisine. We were not misled. The menu is small and straight forward. Pick your fillings and choose it in either a gordita, burrito, quesadilla or on a plate. We both got selections as gorditas. My wife ordered: Asado De Puerco, Picadillo Verde and Picadillo Rojo. I ordered: Papas Con Carne, Papas Con Chorizo and Deshabrada. I also wound up getting a burrito with Machaca. All the meats were seasoned nicely and delicious. Both the verde and rojo salsas they brought out enhanced the food. The rojo does have a kick (same sauce as in the Desshbrada) but the heat didn't linger so eating it was enjoyable. The margarita I ordered was delicious, made with real lime juice. Some people might complain because it is regular sized, served in a glass roughly the size of a martini glass. It isn't a gigantic gimmick you find in a lot of American-Mexican restaurants. It hit the spot! The fruit empanadas were lovely, the crust similar to a sugar cookie with strawberry or apricot. We tried both and thought the apricot won by a hair. Its sweet flavor was slightly stronger than the strawberry. The service was excellent, both our server and the gentleman from the kitchen (maybe owner) who brought out food to the table were extremely friendly and a pleasure to speak with. We've marked La Sierra in our "must do again" list and when we care back in Omaha, we will be stopping in.“

“Our first trip to Gather couldn’t have gone better. The host, Steve was super accommodating in seating us. I appreciated the table farther away from the majority of the business as it was quieter and more intimate. Our waitress, Cathleen was extremely helpful and super friendly, even giving our oldest daughter individualized attention without being annoying like a lot of servers are when we are trying to enjoy a night out as a family. The brussel sprouts were fantastic. I don’t know if I’ll ever eat them without cranberries again; who would have known. They added such a pop of brightness to the dish. My wife had the pad Thai and thoroughly enjoyed it. I had the Wagyu flat iron with Chimichurri, and where so many restaurants fail, they succeeded in having a well-balanced sauce that wasn’t overly acidic and provided a welcomed heat to the dish. Loved the elote corn which was kept warm the entire meal having been served in its own skillet. We also ordered the Mac and cheese which was very good, and even the chicken strips we ordered for our daughter was a shelf above any other restaurant. My daughter loved the donut holes and the birthday cake they prepared, although simple, was surprisingly delicious. They even do the simple things well! By far, the best dessert was the Strawberry-Basil sorbet; such a fresh and delightful way to end the meal. One of the things that stuck out to me most was the attention we got from the manager, Tony. Most of the time you see managers walking around, it feels like they are just “doing their job,” but this guy was bringing food out to customers, checking in with tables, assisting in any way he could, and genuinely looked liked he loved being there. He checked on a few questions we had about the food and he also gave special attention to our daughter which definitely elevated her experience. The service, food, atmosphere and getting to see their Hydroponic garden make this a must visit! Will definitely be back.“

“Went here today to try out their newest seasonal beers and omg! This is the ONLY place where I will drink a sour. Their cranberry sour was amazing. The Pecan Pie Brown Ale and the Stuffing beer were also very good. And it’s so nice that they have a couple of dairy/meat free options on their menu. We love this place!“

“Sweet magnolias was the perfect place for us to purchase our wedding cake! We were able to get a sample box which we used to make a cute little date for the two of us. It was so hard deciding which flavor to choose because each one was so amazing. Sweet Magnolia’s accommodated my husband and I by recreating a photo we had found on Pinterest. It was so perfect and delicious!“

“Delicious food, similar to a restaurant that went out of business in KCMO, that I have been missing. I ordered the BBQ cheese fries. I have Celiac disease and am allergic to dairy and so, and am vegan so finding a restaurant where I can eat just about anything on the menu is exciting as growing up I felt left out every time my family went out to eat and I would either bring my own food or I would sit there watching them eat, silently thinking about how gross their food was. The vanilla sprinkle donut was moist, I usually can't eat this type of food because of the dryness of the bread product. The cookies and cream shake was good but I would have preferred a plain vanilla shake.“

“We were in Omaha today visiting to zoo and had a hankering for sushi. We found this cozy spot and were deeply impressed. Our waitress was very knowledgeable and prompt with her service. “Stopped to get a loaf of sourdough bread. They were willing to slice it up, which was appreciated. It was very fresh and the crust had a very nice chew like a good sourdough loaf. Only small complaint is that it doesn't have much of a sourness to it but tasted more like a sweet baguette than a sourdough. But it still tasted great and the cashier was really nice so I'm totally willing to overlook that and would come here again!“

We ended up getting a number of starter plates that were all delicious (rice cakes, crab dip, truffles) and enjoyed them with a nice house Cabernet and it was just perfect.
