Restaurantji's Waterloo guide: Where to find the best Mexican flavors.
“My whole fam loves El Bees, been going there for years! We get the corn tortillas w/ pico de gallo for appetizer. My fav dish is quesadilla grande shredded beef w/ beans 'n rice. I order an extra order of rice to go home w/ my left overs. Hubby will sometimes have the fajitas or the Macho Chimichanga. Thanks El Bees! ?Parking: Nice big flat parking lot.Kid-friendliness: Kids in there all the time.Wheelchair accessibility: I think it's good. Flat parking lot. Handicap spots right in front of building, no steps, double doors into building, majority of inside is flat except for 1-2 steps up into small area on one end by the bar (around the bar itself is flat).“
“I’d never heard of Javi’s Tacos before my daughter had it catered into her school. After our 1st visit, I enjoyed everything that we ordered. The food was fantastic, the service was pleasant and it had a very enjoyable atmosphere.Parking: Parking was walking distance to the restaurant“
“Chips were thin, crispy, and warm! Queso was one of the best I’ve had. Chile rellenos had a delicious gravy. Birria was excellent. BlackBerry Mint margarita was stout and delicious. Kid friendly menu and atmosphere. They LOVED the ice cream bar and all the toppings!!This will definitely be a go to for us when we want some good Mexican food. Service was great, staff extremely friendly and accommodating.Kid-friendliness: Ice cream bar with different toppings!! Kids loved it!!“
“The Birria tacos are where it’s at. I have tried several spots in the area - none compare to the moist, tender meat that fills these delicious little individually wrapped tacos. The consume is rich and packed with flavor, and even though comes with an extra charge, all-in the value is unbeatable.“
“Javi's is great because of people like Javi! Thanks for the warm welcome & incredible food! You did an incredible job catering our work events -- going in person was even better. Now that I know how things work, I'll be back!!THE BURRITO I GOT WAS HUGE. HOT DIGGITY DOG.“
“My gf and I don't get to go out very often as I also work in the service industry but Roja was incredible in every sense of the word. Service was friendly and accommodating w/o being overbearing and the food was impeccable. It was cool to sit next to the tortilla press and watch the chefs work as we dined. We both rarely take our leftover food home in boxes but decided we couldn't possibly let any of this go to waste. Drinks were fairly priced and the shot of tequila halfway through the meal was perfectly presented.“
“I've only visited this location once and the manager was amazing in making sure my daughters food didn't touch anything with gluten. I truly appreciate anyone jwo takes the time to use safety protocols even in an area where cross contamination is possible. All of us love Qdoba and we eat it often due to all of our different dietary restrictions.“

“My boyfriend and I went to Javis and we were greeted by Miguel Flores and he made the experience the best we’ve ever had. He noticed my boyfriend had just gotten out of military training and he gave good advice, and was overall great to make conversation with. Plus, our food was amazing!! Will definitely be back!“
“We're originally from San Diego and I admit I can be a bit of a Mexican food snob. La Mesa has blown me away with their flavors and drinks and amazing service. They've become my favorite local Mexican restaurant. I can't rave enough about their food, margaritas, and their wonderful staff. I love trying a new dish every time I go and last night I had their Molcajete and OMG was it delicious...like I can't stress enough how amazing it was. It was perfectly spicy without being hot and the lava bowl they serve it in was stuffed with perfectly cooked shrimp, beef, chicken, and chorizo. I reluctantly let my husband try it and his first words were OH MY GOD THAT'S GOOD! Trust us on this and give it a try. It's amazing. Also, try the Pollo a la Crema. Another delicious dish that will make your taste buds very happy. Enjoy!“
“Man this place is amazing! My dad and I come for breakfast every weekend. You can tell the owners really care. They spend a lot of money with their outdoor patio plants and decorate so nicely! We enjoy the outdoor patio even now because they have kickass heaters. We especially enjoy Patrice, she’s so good at what she does and she is so kind! I recommend time and time again!“
“My husband ordered the #7 ( 2 beef burritos with rice and beans on the side) and I ordered #18 ( 2 asada burritos which has guacamole and pico de Gallo & rice and beans on the side). The portions are huge!!!! I've never seen the place so full before and the food was on point!! Will definitely be back again!! Sorry no pictures of the food because I didn't have time ? I dug right in!!“
“Best food truck ever!!!!!! They came to our outdoor wedding reception and EVERYONE raved about the food….many went back for more! We could not have been happier with the outstanding service, menu options, and quality of food. This food truck is a MUST TRY.Vegetarian options: The vegetarian options were just as delicious as the ones with meat.Kid-friendliness: They would customize each order so everyone was happy, including kids.“
“A true guilty pleasure. Monday's 3 crispy tacos for $3 is the best deal in town, and they taste great too! Love the crisp meats and soft shell tacos as well. Only complaint is the cost is a bit steep, but I keep coming back so it must be worth it! Workers are always upbeat and polite!“
“I was a bit taken aback when I noticed the price of a $9.00 breakfast burrito but I was hungry and a friend insisted that this place was great and well worth the price. Well he was right the chorizo and egg breakfast burrito was excellent!!!! And I had to ask two employees help me load it into the back of my truck. In reality it did last me for two meals and reheated very nicely in the microwave. This place isn't fancy on the inside and that's okay with me. They are obviously concerned about the quality and quantity of their food. I shall make this a regular.“
“I have never tasted Mexican food this amazing. My grandma was Hispanic and she passed away not too long ago.. I’ve missed her beans and rice with my whole heart. This place really blew it out of the water for me I’m so amazed by how good the food is. Gave me a little bit of memory of my grandma back. I will not go to any other Mexican place other than here. Absolutely amazing!!“
“One of the best taco places in Omaha for vegetarians. Love their crispy cauliflower tacos. Perfectly spiced crispy cauliflowers in tacos with a sprinkle of avocado crema is a match made in heaven! If you are a spice lover I would highly recommend you to try it out with some habanero salsa.Their loaded black bean nachos is another great option in the menu as well. A budget friendly place with great food. A must try in Omaha !!“
“Some of the best tacos I've had in my life! Turns out my friend I went to culinary school with runs the kitchen on Taco Tuesdays, it was really good seeing him it's been 4ever! Definitely going back next Tuesday! Only gripe is the bathroom was a hot mess!! I heard they are working on that situation. If you have the time to go a extra few miles I would check out them Tacos! I had 3 beers and a taco and my tab was just over 20 bucks, not bad @ all!!“
