“This restaurant was just average for me in terms of food, but to be fair, when you're traveling in the mountains to enjoy the scenery, finding a spot like this is already a plus.
The food itself was okay—nothing particularly memorable. The fries seemed a bit old and hard, and the beef balls were on the dry side. However, the setting really makes up for it. The view from the restaurant is beautiful, and the atmosphere is lively, especially with the live music playing across the way. It’s clearly a popular spot, as it was quite crowded when we visited.
Overall, while the food may not have stood out, the location and ambiance made it a decent stop during our trip.“

“The food was absolutely delicious. We had a party of 8 and everyone was very happy, including the kids. Service was excellent as well. We had kids mac and cheese, dessert, pulled pork nachos, burger, cinnamon bun and chicken, empanadas, salads, pot pie bread bowl. We had a couple of drinks and the orange old fashion was great. 10/10 highly recommend!“

“I had to come here and post a story that happened to a couple buddies and I a few years ago and how helpful muddy moose is . We were out fishing over the long weekend in may, it’s later in the evening and my one buddy says man wouldn’t it be cool to get a poutine ? Of course we all agree so we bust a phone out in the boat, search muddy moose up quick and hit dial not really paying much attention to it . Anyhow some very nice lady answers and we ask if they are still open to which she replies “ yes we are for another 30 min” . Well we’re like game on ! So we ask for three poutines to which the kind lady replies “ what’s a poutine “ answering her question kind of scratching our heads? How could you not know what this is ? Anyhow I’m sure we sounded hick with the frogs, boat motor, and three Canadians chirping each other through the call. She says oh yes we can make that for you and can have it in a bag for when you get here . Well now we are racing across a lake , jumping in a truck , racing down a muddy back road , down the highway , and yes we had about it two minutes to spare when we got to the Moose . When I ran in the door asking for our order a friend of ours is like “ uh dudes the grill has been closed for an hour” ??? We called the wrong muddy moose …. 🫎 we called you guys 1500km away . Woops . We ended up calling back after realizing our mistake , boy did we laugh , the lady couldn’t stop laughing either . We offered to pay over the phone but the lady said it was an honest mistake and a funny one and that she would offer up the poutines for a couple guests in the store . Good times . When I can get down there on my bike I plan on planning a stop just to order a meal .“

“Our snowmobiling tour guide, Tyler, from Northern Extremes, recommended your place. I must say your food quality is outstanding! I dine out regularly at award wining restaurants in the Mystic, CT area, and they got nothin on you! Service from Luke was perfect. Drinks were incredible. Duck and scallop appetizer, Gnocchi and Ribeye were all off the charts delicious! Dressing on the steak side salad was a game changer and I image it's made in house. 10 out of 10. Seriously!! Worthy of a 4 hour drive!“

“Great food but I had an issue with online ordering process, it defaulted to the wrong item. Would not correct the issue and failed to make right.“

“Just stopped in on a whim and ordered roast beef sandwiches. The beef was extremely tender. Some have complained that the beef was not flavorful. Without all the added salt, the beef taste came through loud and clear. My husband and I don’t need all the extra salt so it was definitely to our liking. Great friendly staff as well!“

“We have stayed here probably four times. Each time with children, this last time with our dog. We have stayed in air BNB’s, motels, and five star all inclusive resorts. For a classic New England experience, while seeing the sights in New Hampshire, I would 💯 recommend this hotel. The positives: Authentic historic charm, literally jumping out of a Currier and Ives print. As you drive up the hill to the entrance, you literally feel like you are going back in time. There is a large front porch with dramatic views of the mountains, and a well kept golf course. The staff is genuine, friendly, down to earth, and accommodating. The food in the restaurant and the drinks are well made, and delicious— I would categorize the offerings as more “comfort” food: think tender lamb falling into mashed potatoes. The negatives: (Not a negative for some, but maybe for others…..) It’s old, (hence historical designation). If you don’t want to stay in an old hotel, this is not for you. We like old, some people don’t. 🤷♂️ (Like - they still use real keys, and the windows have wavy glass….the elevator is a museum piece. It was functional when we were there- definitely neat/out of a movie.) If you want modern/spa chain hotel-this is not for you If you want authentic New England charm, gracious hospitality, in a grand building from a bygone era this is for you.“

Marbled rye with Pastrami, caramelized onions, cheese and thousand island dressing... really good! and staff are great. Patty was our waitress and very friendly and helpful with local information!

“We stopped in Big Dave’s to get breakfast sandwiches for the road and we’re glad we did. The bagels are fresh and warm. The service was friendly. We got a half dozen bagels and 3 bacon, egg and cheese sandwiches to go. There were lots of pastries that look delicious but we didn’t get any this time. We’ll be back again!“

“We enjoyed a really delicious meal and drinks here. It is a very nice place. The charcuterie board was probably designed for a table of four to share because it had quite a few options and plenty of each but it was totally worth it. I had a special and the meat was so tender it came apart with just a fork. The food is definitely worth the price.“

“Bouillabaisse was exquisite and the duck was perfect. We canceled our breakfast plans for the next morning so we could go back and try more of their delicious food. I can’t imagine a scenario where we’re in the area and don’t eat here. Looking forward to returning to Mt Washington Valley, if for no better reason than to return to this wonderful restaurant. We spent 4 nights in the area and White Mountain Cider Co was by far the best food we had. This is what food is supposed to taste like.“
