“Writing this review while I’m eating bad Chinese food in New Jersey, had me reminiscing about this place next to my old house. The garlic shrimp, sesame chicken and general Tso chicken are out of this world. I miss this place so much. Great food and great people. One of the best Chinese restaurants on the island. Highly recommend.“

They have a great vegetarian ‘chicken’ imperial that my family is obsessed with!
Definitely a favorite of ours!“

“This is a typical Chinese takeout place with all the familiar dishes and lunch menu items at a typically fair price. Staff is friendly. I wish there wasn't a 10 dollar minimum for credit cards (who carries cash?) but that's not their fault. Food is exactly what you'd expect if you've ever had "hole in the wall" takeout before.“

“This cozy Asian fusion restaurant is a fantastic spot for a flavorful and relaxed meal. Each dish arrives fresh, with a creative blend of Asian flavors that keeps every bite interesting. The option to choose your spice level is a nice touch, striking a balance between enhancing the flavors and keeping the heat manageable. Perfect for those looking to explore a unique twist on Asian cuisine in a warm and inviting atmosphere!“

“Best takeout Chinese food I've found in the area so far. Fantastic white meat sweet and sour chicken, which was crispy with a side of sweet dipping sauce, and great pork fried rice. Szechuan chicken was also very good although a little sweet and comes with a lot more vegetables than meat. They did forget the rice with our order so check the bag.“

“We only get take out althoiugh they have maybe 3-4 tables for many years. Food has been consistantly great. Husband and wife team and very nice people. I love their house special soup but have not had anything that was not good here! Any reviews that are not stellar are likely from competitors!
Dietary restrictions: Can request no MSG or to hold certain ingedients
Parking: Parking lot is large“

“Best lo mein in the area. I get mine with roast pork. This was my secondary place after House of Chong, also in Middletown, which has unfortunately been lacking lately. Tai Hing just moved up to number one. They are cleverly closed on Tuesdays instead of Mondays, since so many restaurants are closed then. The prices are also really fair and a good value. I’ll get a picture next time, I scarfed it all down too quickly LOL.“

“This is not our usual place. Either is the one across the street, which we ordered the day before and we’re extremely disappointed to the point that we wanted Chinese again the following night and we chose Golden Jade. Flat-out great food here and I knew it because it’s family run and everyone was friendly. You can tell they take pride in their cooking. We had fried dumplings which would great - they give you 8 and my only critique is they need more filling but the taste is great. The house lomein and house fried rice were outstanding. Fresh and not over sauced. The chicken and broccoli and the general tso chicken were what you expect in the taste department and we’re done very well. Their egg rolls were tasty. The highlight though was the boneless spareribs. So many places get this wrong - these were the best I’ve had in the area even topping my usual place. They had the right amount of glaze, weren’t tough and were made completely using rib meat. Sweet, salty, and easy to chew. This place didn’t disappoint and if it’s a battle between Golden Jade or the one across the street in the junction, Golden Jade is easily the winner.“

“The food is delicious! Very fresh and tasteful. The chicken wings are so perfectly fried, crispy, and large. Their soups are so flavorful- I recommend the chicken noodle mei fun soup! YUM! The garlic sauce is the right amount of garlic to not be overwhelming for a “garlic sauce”.“

“Their food is not oily. It doesn't taste like old oil. The only way I can describe the food is that it tastes clean. I don't usually eat fried rice, but when I tried theirs, I loved it. highly recommend place. I didn't feel bloated and sluggish after.“

“Really cool, hip take on classic Chinese/Taiwanese foods! It's not a made-from-scratch-in-the-back-room, super-fresh dumpling place like you might find in Edison, but that's not what it's trying to be either. For a quick, efficient counter-service take-out place, Ugly Dumpling Express hits the spot when you're craving a consistent soup dumpling or comfort rice/noodle dish on the go. The prices are reasonable, and the taste is surprisingly authentic for an "express" shop.
I've gotten it to-go as well as dine-in. The soup dumplings do indeed have soup, which is better appreciated when dining in. The food comes out piping hot and well-steamed in the classic bamboo steaming baskets. The popcorn (salt & pepper) chicken is a must-order for us. It's well-seasoned, crispy on the outside, and tender on the inside. We also had the beef noodle soup and were very pleasantly surprised by the fullness of the broth's flavor. The beef was quite tender; it did have a bit more tendon than I like, but this was to my wife's taste. The cucumber salad is cut in large chunks, but well-marinated, and the cold side dish complemented the hot dishes well.
We also ordered the sesame noodles to-go. They do a great job at packaging the sauce and noodles separately so the noodles don't get soggy or oversaturated. These dishes (saucy noodles, dumplings, etc.) aren't traditionally great when not immediately consumed, so I do appreciate that they take extra measures to preserve the texture and flavor for a take-out option.
All in all, we're very happy to have a local dumpling spot in Holmdel. It's at least 80% as good as the authentic hole-in-the-walls in Edison or Chinatown, but 100% worth it to avoid the crowd, traffic, and wait times trekking out there! Would definitely recommend - and give dining-in a chance for best results!“
“Pro: Dirt cheap portion sizes for menu items that tastes decent to good depending on your cultural palate.Con: made for western palate which means like many Chinese restaurant although they don't have msg and stuff they make it up in sugar for some dishes.Edit: if you don't cook and have budget of 10 dollar a meal and not starve or end up as an involuntary vegetarian this is practically only choice in this zip code.“

“Speaking from a native point of view, UJ is probably as close to authentic tasting (cooking techniques, sauces etc) for Chinese American cuisine. Currently it is my go to for Chinese food in the area...food is cooked well, not too heavy, high quality ingredients, lots of attention to detail in their dishes. Just comparing the fried rice that comes with the combos, you'll find it superior to any other Chinese restaurants' equivalent in their combos. I've only ordered take out, but they do have a dining room. The service has always been prompt and friendly with lots of staff working. The other huge plus is that it's probably the only restaurant in the area that closes the latest.“

“Very relaxing, quiet atmosphere, classy . Not a fast food place. Family run.... Excellent food. Had a shrimp dish. Lots of shrimp and vegetables . They had run out of asparagus but friend had chicken and green beans instead. Soup very tasty. Prices reasonable . Excellent dining in experience. A wide variety of food. Very nice owners, they try to accommodate. Brown rice is an option. Healthy food.“
“This is a great little Chinese restaurant which has all the basics and will gladly customize. To be clear I am not rating the food 5 star, but the combination of food quality, prices, value, selection and service. They are consistent in their food and service.“
“My family and I order take out from here all the time and let me tell you, they’re consistent. The food is always delicious and fresh, and the portions for the price are unmatched. Our favorite thing to get is the poke bowl combo with a sushi roll. This place just became our go to dinner spot when we’re hungry and too lazy to cook. Definitely recommend!“

“Our GOTO for Chinese takeout. The food is usually very good (occasionally, I’m guessing whoever cooks) it could be a little different than what we’re used to. Their portions are very generous, the service is good and it’s always hot. We’ve been going here for years! I would definitely recommend it for good Chinese takeout.
Parking: It’s in a small shopping center. No problem during the week. But o. Weekends it can be difficult to get a spot nearby.“
“2024 Feb 4: Sunday: Sea Bright Beach vicinity: Unusually warm & windless, very nice atmosphere...enjoyed entire afternoon from 12 pm to 4 pm. Come here and ordered lunch specials (beef & broccoli w chicken fried rice & wonton soup) & salt & pepper Squid fry. Total $30 & they provided plates, utensils, hot oil. Very friendly...“

“Probably the best Chinese restaurant in Long Branch. Still wish the sweet and sour sauce was thicker with chunks of fruit and carrots like it's traditionally made. There's no better Chinese restaurant in the area. Highly recommended!“

“Now Little Szechwan GoGo. I’ll start with a wonderful young waiter named Jordy. He was literally our guide for the meal at lunchtime. Although I don’t like to eat the fried noodles and duck sauce Americans love so much, there were none. When I asked about that Jordy said they were making them. They make them fresh! The soup broth is some of the best I’ve had, also made on premises. Many good and reasonable lunch choices. Jordy is so knowledgeable about chinese food in general. It was a lovely experience. They offer complementary ice cream for dessert. The pistachio has no food coloring and it actually has pistachios! Excellent all the way round.“

“I love this place, authentic Taiwanese food only 10 minutes away. Take out only, have come here many times. The beef noodle soup is fantastic, both the spicy braised beef soup and “Vietnamese style”. The pickled and thickened soups are very good as well. San Bei Ji (Three Cup Chicken) is one of my favorite dishes and the version here is pretty good. The prices are very reasonable. Yes, the food is sold out the back of a bowling alley. Don’t mind that, it’s great takeout and I’m glad they’ve stayed open after the pandemic. Hours posted on Google are off - I think they open at 5 pm.“

“I have edited my review. I went back after 2 years and the food and service have completely deteriorated. The food is bad now. The chicken is hard and seems uncooked. The service is bad now they messed up my order and they didn't even apologize and just hung up. I hate writing this review because this place used to be my favorite.“

“I can be a very picky eater when it comes to Chinese food. I love general tso, but few places make it right. The sauce is flavorful with a very mild kick to it. A kick, I have never tasted before but was always told it's supposed to be there if the sauce was made right. The chicken was cooked just the way I like it. Soft on the inside with a bit of a crisp on the outside.“
