“Great little location on the corner of Elm St. for this takeout place. Friendly service, quick orders to go. The food is absolutely made with hard work and lots of love. This was our first visit considering we came all the way from Union. It was definitely worth the 22min drive. We would definitely order from there in the future. Thanks to the staffs attention to detail and packing the containers to the brim. Check it out peoples. Highly recommended!!😋🤤🍽🍜“

“I returned after dining here for the first time in April 2025 (refer to my prior review).\n\nOur order included a Pork Egg Roll ($2.75), Steamed Pork Dumplings (6 - $7.50), a quart of Chicken Lo Mein ($13.50), Chicken and Broccoli ($15.50), Chicken with Hunan Sauce / mixed vegetables ($15.50), and Beef and Garlic sauce ($16.50).\n\nWhat I Liked:\n-\tThe dumplings were tender and overall, very good\n-\tThe chicken and pork strips were tender\n-\tThe Chicken in Hunan Sauce entree was very attractive with all of the mixed vegetables\n-\tThe Chicken in Hunan Sauce and Chicken Lo Mein entrees were flavorful\n-\tConsidering the egg roll we ordered the last time was one of the worst one I ever ate, this time it was better bit average at best\n-\tThe garlic sauce was very tasty\n-\tThe broccoli in the Chicken and Broccoli was cooked perfectly\n\nWhat I Did Not Like\n-\tThere was less than a reasonable amount of beef in the Beef and Broccoli\n-\tBoth the Pork Lo Mein and Chicken in Hunan Sauce were oily\n-\tThe Lo Mein noodles were softer than I prefer\n\nMy Kung Food culinary rating is 7.5/10 Karate chops landed.“

“This place is very unassuming looking, but they have great food. I ordered chicken with mixed vegetables with brown rice lunch portion, which was fairly big. The food was very tasty and clean just veggies in light sauce and steamed chicken. This is one of the very few options around this area to get a good lunch for $10.“

“Best Shrimp with String Beans I’ve had in a long time! The portions are generous, and the shrimp are actually large, not the tiny ones you find elsewhere. The sauce is savory with just a hint of sweetness and ginger . Perfect over a bowl of steamed white rice!!“

“Fast, fresh and delicious. Friendly owners, free cans of sodas on certain days and/or if you buy a few dinners? Not positive how it works but the first time the lady told me that I was happy, that’s how you treat customers, paired with quality Chinese food and you have yourself a go to spot.“

“New Szechuan Kitchen is a decent Chinese restaurant, though the food is a bit on the greasy side for my liking. The flavors are generally good, but I found the dishes to be a bit overly oily.
That said, I do prefer the Bound Brook location 1,000 times more than this one. The flavor and consistency at the Bound Brook spot is much better in my experience.
Overall, New Szechuan Kitchen is an average Chinese restaurant. The food is okay, but nothing particularly remarkable. If you're in the mood for some classic Chinese fare, it might be worth a try, but I'd recommend the Bound Brook location over this one if you have the option.“

“I give it a 4 star rating because the food is good. But I'm very disappointed with most recent order of Sesame Chicken combo. Rice was a bit cool and NO eggroll! #wth 🙄 Takeout is so expensive now, I EXPECT a good value for my hard-earned blue collar dollars.“

“This has been my only go to Chinese food since I tasted it well over a decade ago! It’s always fresh and the place is clean! The family is super friendly and will substitute whatever I ask for. The portions are plenty and we often have this as a family gathering:event. They also have amazing combination dishes, something for everyone. Plus they have a discounted lunch menu that’s a fantastic price 11-3 . I definitely recommend trying them out . Honestly, even with delivery and the next town over it’s always here very quickly. Every time I call up make an order it’s ready as soon as I walk in the door. They even have coupons on their paper menu plus they give free items with large orders such as soup, egg rolls or large sodas. Five stars from my entire family ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️“

“Decent mapo tofu in a sit-down atmosphere, in an area without too many nicer Chinese restraints. I’ve ordered pickup once and dined in once.
I like visiting different Chinese places to try their mapo tofu specifically, which is a savory and usually spicy dish that is like a saucy spicy soft tofu.
The version prepared by Ye’s Asian Bistro had a different taste than most I’ve tried. It’s tough for me to describe it but it’s almost like a darker flavor but not exactly due to the usual bean sauce. Very light level of heat.
I have found this worth the occasional visit when craving something around town.“

“This place has an old school Chinese restaurant feel to it that reminds me of when I lived in new York. The food is very good I ordered beef lo mein and general chicken. The small portion size of both were enough for two people and everything was very good.“

“We went for the dinner. Food was good. The lady taking orders and serving food at the table was very nice & friendly. The place was clean. Their portion is very big so if you don’t have that much appetite, 2 people can eat from one order of Entree which is fantastic & prices are very reasonable.
Vegetarian options: Many Vegetarian options“

“I've always liked the food from China City 2, and I've never had a bad meal from here. Also, the lady is very nice and friendly. However, since the pandemic began in early-2020, their prices have gone through the roof!!! I understand, same thing could be said for supermarkets, gas, and the supply chain, but this is borderline insane pricing! Maybe their rent went up 75%? Not sure... Whatever the case may be, I used to be able to get a soup, egg roll, and some kind of chicken or beef and broccoli dish, with roast pork fried rice, for around $12. Now it's around $19. Big difference! Still fresh, clean and tasty, but for a take-out joint, a bit overly expensive, to say the least!“

“The pork lo mein special is to die for; first place I’ve found that puts long, juicy slices of pork in the lo mein instead of measly crumbs. The steamed dumplings are also very tasty. The ordering process was very easy and the food was made very quickly. Will come again.“

“I ordered food on 9.11.25 again after being disappointed with another Chinese takeout establishment. My food came to piping hot and my delivery was in a timely manner. The food was prepared fresh and I was extremely happy with the food and the service. We all as customers appreciate good quality with our food. I will continue to order from Hunan. I couldn't wait to take these pictures so I could finish eating! YUMMY!“

“Ordered from Mei Mei Wok for the first time tonight. Was looking for a new place to order Chinese food from and found them through a Google search. They have a convenient and easy to use ordering app. Placed my order through the app before I left work and it was ready when I arrived on my way home. Kept it simple and stuck to my normal choices of an egg roll, pork lo mein and General Tso chicken. Totally impressed! The egg roll was crispy and tasty, the pork lo mein was very good and the General Tso probably the best I have ever had. Will definitely be ordering from them in the future!“

“I've been eating at Chinese food restaurants my whole life, I've lived in three different cities in New jersey, this is by far the best it's a husband and wife team they cook very clean they take pride in their food and best of all they serve good portions. Ask for the shrimp and broccoli and tell them to put Hunan spicy sauce on it, it's the best. I recommend telling them to undercook the broccoli so it's crunchie.. owners are amazing, great service and really care. After at least a hundred times of eating and taking out from here, I've decided to put in a review. This is ever go to almost every Friday night the kids love it.“

Portions are quite generous, and their cost is very reasonable. Ample parking, right in the center of downtown New Providence amidst many fine stores and services all within walking distance. “This is carry out place. The food is consistently good. I'm amazed that the manager always seems to know what my phone order was, even though I didn't identify myself.
Parking: Though the lot is small, the other businesses are all carry out so I always find a space and get in/out fast.“

“For once, a Chinese takeout restaurant is aptly named.
When my family and I crave Chinese takeout, this is our go-to spot. Not only do they churn out large takeout orders in good time (our orders are typically quite large, and we've never had an issue in the thirty or so times we've ordered in the past), but it's always hot, well-seasoned, and well-prepared.
Our orders typically include a 'something-and-broccoli' dish, and they always manage to cook the broccoli to perfect tenderness. I'll also add that this is the only takeout place (ever) where I've actually liked the sesame chicken. In most places, it's either too sweet, mushy, or overly sauced; here, it's dependably delicious.
We especially love the combination plates on the menu, which offers certain entrees with a choice of fried rice or lo mein and a side of egg rolls.“

“Really good Kung Pao Chicken, although the sauce was a little too rich. You can tell this place is definitely a step up from most Chinese restaurants. Better quality food. Nice staff serving you as well. No one was rude, like they are at some Chinese places.“

“Best Chinese & Japanese I’ve had, from their green tea with toasted brown rice to their soups, their general Tso is always a good balance of spice to sweet, very accommodating with gluten allergy for my partner. They are always nice and we tend to catch going once a week at this point, very good every time“
“This place is unquestionably one of the best place to eat in the neighborhood. Anytime I come to this place I am profoundly pleased. They hold their very high level service and the topmost level of food they offer. You will be always satisfied with this place. Very recommended.“
“My family always order the shrimp with garlic sauce and pork fried rice from Chen Kitchen. We have been coming here for many years and the food is always consistent. The staff is always friendly and pleasant. If you are looking for consistency and excellent Chinese food, try Chen's Kitchen in Middlesex. Highly recommend.“

“This was my first time trying this place since I moved into the area. I am so used to the amazing Chinese food in the Jersey City area and none of the closer restaurants to me had half fried chicken with Pork fried rice they all only had chicken wings. I called ahead and when I arrived my food was ready to go and I really enjoyed the food when I got home. My wife enjoyed her sweet and sour chicken with pork fried rice and egg roll combo. The restaurant itself isn’t the nicest looking place but the food was good so that’s all that really matters to me. I will definitely be returning in the future.“

“Ordered for the first time from China Wok yesterday (influenced by icharmed's review posted two months ago) and I am happy to share my very pleasant experience. The help I received from Daniel regarding ordering online for delivery was great and the food was hot when it arrived quickly with a very nice delivery man. The hot and sour soup was the BEST I've had in a very long time. The egg roll was tasty. My sweet and sour pork was good and very filling. Today I am looking forward to my mixed wonton egg drop soup and my house special lo mein - I sampled both yesterday and was very pleased. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone in the Piscataway area - you won't be disappointed.“

“Friendly staff, and one of my favorite Chinese restaurants in the area the last 15 years. I usually go takeout, but dine-in environment is something I’ll enjoy if I have time. My go to’s are Sesame Chicken and Egg Drop / Hot & Sour Soup.“
