“I’ve been ordering from The Pit for years the staff is always friendly, and the food is consistently fresh and flavorful. No complaints there at all.

That said, I wanted to give a heads-up for anyone ordering the beef ribs half combo. I recently ordered the same half beef rib(S) and chicken combo I’ve gotten in the past. Typically, when I order the half beef rib(s), I receive 2–3 beef chuck ribs. This time, however, I only received one rib — which was surprising, considering the plural wording and my prior experiences.

I called and spoke with Jeff, who was respectful and upfront. He mentioned that the combo only includes one beef rib and that prices have gone up (which I totally get). Still, based on my regular orders over the years, I’ve never received just one rib until now. Either way, I appreciate his transparency.

For context:
• Half chicken combo = ~$11.95
• Half beef rib(S) & chicken combo = ~$16.95

So if you’re expecting multiple beef ribs, you may want to reconsider and go for the chicken or pork ribs instead both still come in hearty portions.

To be clear, this isn’t a complaint just advice for fellow regulars or first-timers who may be surprised by the term beef rib(S)with a single rib. I’ve even added pictures in photos comparing what I received vs. the half chicken combo.

Bottom line: The Pit remains a solid spot with delicious food, generous sides, and great service just be mindful of the current beef rib portions when ordering.“

“First off, I was met with by a staff member in a cowboy hat (LOVE!) The booth was so soft and comfy and the table stands are ornate. I had the short rib and the meat was fall off the bone delicious! It was so tender and the sides were so plentiful and delicious. Each side had something a little different to pair well with the meat; sweet, salty, savory! I also had the shik Karak which was a delicious tea and for dessert, I had a banana crepe drizzled in chocolate. They do have a flair with food and I will definitely be back here!“

“Came for takeout. It had just opened and I got an order of the jollof rice and suya. The jollof was good but the suya was great! Plantains were fried to perfection. The staff was so kind.

“Small place ran by a lovely couple with all the signature classic Romanian dishes! This place is a complete hidden gem! The eggplant salad starter is just like my grandmother and mother make, the meats are excellent - portion sizes are huge and everything tastes like a solid Romanian place on my visits to Romania. Taking advantage of the people and technically 3 times the fee of a larking ticket you’ll get from the Montclair police dept. Robbery for sure and taking advantage of the state to charge high fees. “They have treat you with courtesy and professionalism. Every time I have been there they ask you how you want the chicken cut and clean it fast. “Pulaski BBQ has a small menu and cheap eats for Ironbound standards. The pork ribs with yellow rice & fries was delicious. The seasoning and charcoal taste was amazing, the fries were crispy, however the rice is pretty bland. My server was excellent and the prices are very reasonable. This is one of my favorite spots in Ironbound and I would recommend that you check It out.“

We went inside the restaurant and did not talk right away to let them know we were 2 customers, instead I stopped for a second and checked if we went to the right door. The worker in the front thought that we went in there to look for a guy and be with guy and do something. I just wanted to let that worker in the front know that we went there to eat and not to look for a guy. When we finished eating, that worker in the front got replaced with a young guy. I just don’t want the worker in there to think that we went there to look for a guy. We love to go to the church. Now a days, it is very important to do the right thing. We have a song in the church “choose the right.” Don’t judge the people by just physical appearance.
But other than that, the food was delicious. I highly recommend the restaurant.“
