“I walked into IHOP expecting a normal breakfast, but I was NOT prepared for Bernard.

Bernard wasn’t just my server. He was a legend.

I ordered pancakes, and when they arrived, the restaurant fell silent. The pancakes were perfect. But then—DISASTER.

THE SYRUP WAS EMPTY.

I looked at Bernard. Bernard looked at me.

Without saying a word, he marched toward the syrup station like a warrior entering battle. Moments later, he returned with a fresh bottle.

The crisis was over.

As I finished my meal, I realized the truth: Bernard wasn’t an ordinary server.

He was the Guardian of IHOP.

“Bottom line: 5 stars all the way! If we were local, we would be regulars. Will visit again when we are in the area!! We visited May 9th after a 10 hour drive. We came across this restaurant on the GPS and decided to stop in for breakfast before continuing our trip. I am so glad we did! It was just what we needed to continue on. Not only were the food and drinks delicious but the customer service was top tier! I wish we got the name of the individual who served us. I believe she was the owner. She took time to speak with us, made suggestions on what we could order (my husband loved the big Johnston breakfast), engaged with my toddler with kindness and playfulness which was so helpful after a long drive. We were so grateful for her. The service was above and beyond. She even helped us with parking suggestion which was confusing for us as we were out of town. “I had such a wonderful experience here! From the moment you walk through the door, you're welcomed with a warm greeting and seated with menus right away. The atmosphere was calm and inviting when we arrived, and by the time we left, the restaurant had filled up, which says a lot.

The food came out fresh, hot, and absolutely delicious. I ordered the steak platter with scrambled eggs, home fries, and grilled onions, and every bite was flavorful without feeling heavy. I paired it with a caramel latte, and it was the perfect addition to the meal.

One thing I'm especially excited about is their weekend menu, which is available on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. It looks amazing, so I'll definitely be coming back to try it.

“Close to where I was. I liked the menu posted on line, so I decided to try them. Not disappointed at all. Clean place with several tables in use by customers including outside. There were about 10 people working. The stream of customers coming in for orders and making orders was constant. That told me something about their food as I waited for my lamb gyro. All employees who took orders were professional and neither friendly or unfriendly; business like. That's okay, since they were all busy. The menu doesn't mention the croissants, and scones along with other things they offer so a trip here is worth the drive if you're nearby. My freshly made gyro was nice and warm and placed in a compostable container. There was plenty of lamb along with everything else. It was a very nicely flavored. The meat was tender and the pita was soft. Although I've had better, this was still good and the price was fair. I would purchase from Jackie's grill again, and recommend this place.“

“Really good local place. Met up with 2 friends for breakfast a week ago. We grew up in the area, use to visit Bennys 45 years ago when it was more of a convenience store. Today’s Bennys is really well done. Service was great, waitress was extremely nice, friendly throughout our time there. Food was spot on, omlettes, salad, and biscuits with gravy, 2 eggs over easy could not have been better. Prices a little steep, but that’s par for the course these days. Anyway, highly recommend“

My only issue is that on Aug 12 2025 I ordered my usually breakfast sandwiches and instead of telling me they ran out of eggs they sold me the sandwiches at full price and yea beef bacon cheese on a roll with jelly does not hit the same without eggs. I didn't hold it against them and I came in today Aug 13 and me not even asking for anything free or any favors started to inform the woman at the counter what happened and she just cut me off mid sentence and asked for my order she clearly did not care. I left it alone and this was my favorite breakfast spot but today will be the last time I give them my business. The food is great tho.“

“I stopped by outside of normal business hours and wasn't able to make a purchase, but the manager took the time to speak with me and went out of his way to help after learning I had traveled a long distance. “We got an Airbnb arpund the Corner and wanted an authentic breakfast.
The Lady who Served was Kind and explained everything to us and was patient.
Food was good, Portion sizes alot bigger than expected, although the Pancakes could have used some syrup imo.
Still a recommendation, even though it's a busy place, it adds to the Charme for Sure.

The giant windows allow great natural light in, and the space is rustic mixed with a bookstore. It would be great if they would place outdoor tables to invite visitors in. Honestly sometimes I can’t tell whether they are open or not….

Additionally, I do wish they offered variety such as sandwiches and dinner items and catered for longer hours until 7:30 pm. It would be ideal considering there’s a rush in the area past 6 pm. I am very curious to see how they stay afloat now with the new bagel shop down the block.

The female cashier is nice as well as the chef. The owner doesn’t show much expression or emotion, and I respect him for keeping to himself. I just hope you can keep up with the changes in the neighborhood, I’m rooting for you Basic Cafe!
