“Banh mi ngon has been a solid place for me. I have been exploring several Vietnamese places in the area including Pho 75 (pho bo), Ba Le Bakery (bahn mi), Ca Phe Roasters (Vietnamese coffee), and Cafe Diem (bun Bo Hue) but this place has been absolutely delicious. They have fried tofu and grilled pork belly Banhmi which make them very unique and delicious! Ialready visited this place multiple times!“

“Went here for a birthday party and the food was SO GOOD. Get all the snails, clams, shrimp, etc—they got it all. Def try the whelk with the cilantro lime sauce. The server was also incredibly nice and attentive. We would go to ask for something, and he was already there with more water, sauce, knife for the cake. Great spot!“

“Mama Ha’s is regular part of my Saturday to load up on food. Always a variety of summer rolls and vermicelli dishes available to go. Funny is I’ve loved just about everything I’ve had but the one I’m most obsessed with is the Xoi Ga which is just sticky rice, scallions and grilled chicken….and if my wife would allow me to just fill our fridge with this I would. Great Vietnamese coffee also!“

“the food was great and we didn’t have to wait to sit or to be served. the staff was friendly and the food is inexpensive for how good it is and how much you get. The interior is on the cozier side, which I liked, and it isn’t too hot or cold. You can pay with cash or card and as I said before it’s pretty inexpensive for what you get.“

“We came here especially after hearing great reviews, and we were definitely not disappointed. The place is lovely, with a unique atmosphere and warm, welcoming service from the owner. The food is outstanding, both in quality and taste. The portions are generous and filling, and everything was simply exceptionally delicious.
The owner was kind, friendly, and hospitable, and even happily adjusted one of the dishes for someone in our group. Thank you for a wonderful experience and absolutely perfect food!“

“Surefire hangover cure? Pho, and a glass of coconut juice.
Corey's pho is fire[1], full of trimmings, with a soothing beef broth.
Chef/owner Corey is a cool dude - he offered his homemade chili oil to me, which pizazz'd my noodles. I've never had chili oil with pho until I went to Corey's; it's now a sometimes habit for me!
This restaurant is the size of a breadbox[2], so call ahead before bringing your party of 8 there. If you want to host a private party, just work with the restaurant directly.

“This place felt like I just ate at a family friend’s house, it was comforting, and made with care. The food had that homemade feeling that you don’t always get when eating out.
The spice level was perfect. It had the right amount of heat without overpowering the flavor, and every bite felt balanced. Simple, authentic, and really satisfying.
Definitely the kind of spot I’d come back to when I want something comforting and full of flavor.“

“My girlfriend and I came to Nam Vang Restaurant for the first time. We’ve always gone to the grocery store next door and noticed how busy this restaurant usually is, so we finally decided to give it a try. It definitely did not disappoint. The restaurant may look a little dated from the outside and is easy to miss if you’re simply walking by, but once inside, we found it to be clean, welcoming, and full of friendly staff.
Overall Ratings
Atmosphere - 4/5
Service - 5/5
Food - 5/5
Parking - Shopping Center Parking Lot
Atmosphere -
The restaurant looks somewhat dated from the outside, but the inside is surprisingly clean and comfortable. It has a simple, traditional feel without trying to be overly fancy. They also sell a variety of drinks, desserts, and smoothies, which is a nice bonus.
Service -
The owners and staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. They made good recommendations and were more than happy to accommodate us. When I initially ordered the dry version of the Hu Tieu Nam Vang with egg noodles, I really enjoyed it but wanted to try it with broth as well. The staff were happy to provide me with extra broth, which I really appreciated.
What We Ordered -
-Hu Tieu Nam Vang with Egg Noodles (Dry) - Absolutely delicious. The dry version was flavorful and had a great balance of ingredients.
-Hu Tieu Mi Nam Vang (Dry) - Also delicious. Another great combination of flavors and textures.
-Pickled Spicy Peppers - These were a great addition to the meal. They added a nice kick without leaving that lingering spicy heat that you sometimes get from chili peppers.
Final Thoughts -
I'm glad we finally decided to give Nam Vang Restaurant a try after seeing it packed so many times. The food was delicious, the staff were friendly and accommodating, and the overall experience was excellent. The restaurant may not look like much from the outside, but don't let that fool you. We would definitely come back again and try more of the menu.“

“The tofu was so well seasoned - dare I say braised? Sometimes banh mis are too dry but this was full of saucy flavor in every single bite. This is well worth traveling for. I had a banh mi at the same hunger level 2 days later, and Pop Up Cafe is incomparable. Updated from previous review on 2026-06-14“

“They're open the earliest of any pho spot I know. I’ve been here before 9:30am on a weekday, and once I even had a bowl of pho goodness ready for me before that. Their pho comes with a generous meat serving. If you go, schedule a wake up call after eating.
Inside it’s cozy, bright and airy. Friendly service. Credit accepted.
Last I checked, they had a happy hour special from 2-5pm. Entree, appetizer, and a drink deal. One of these days I’ll be back for that!“

“The bahn mi was delicious. The toasted bread, pickled veggies and the fresh cilantro made the bahn mi sandwich tasty. The pepper was spicy which was a good contrast to sweet and savory beef. Waiter was friendly and quick.“

“I’ve walked by this spot so many times, and it seemed every time I was hungry they were closed (closed on weekends) but today I finally stepped in. I ordered 2 bánh mìs and a Vietnamese coffee. Pete, the owner/operator of the spot was the only one there and we instantly jumped into great conversation about the music scene in Philly back in the late 90s. We ended up knowing a lot of the same people. Philly is a tight knit group. So even before eating the food I was already a fan of this spot. Pete served me his special take on Vietnamese coffee while we talked and he made the sandwiches. The iced coffee was excellent, but different and less sweet than Vietnamese coffee I’ve had in the past. He also used ice cubes made of coffee which was an added bonus for a coffee junkie like myself. After we talked for nearly 20 min, I walked home with my sandwich and WOW! Such a solid bánh mì! I told him to make it like he would make it for himself (spicy) and he knocked it out of the park. I’ll be back and I’ll be bringing all my music friends here when they are in the neighborhood. I highly encourage Olde City residents as well as Philly locals to give this place a try!“

“We have been dining in and taking out from Pho Le for @5 years now …the food is always fresh and delicious. I just wanted to say we had take out this evening, and it was OUTSTANDING ! The beef was soooooo tender, the shrimp pad Thai was just the right amount of spice and the summer roll and sauce were out of his world ! We have tried just about every Asian styled restaurant in the area and nothing comes close to this … Their menu caters to all….don’t let the Pho fool you, there is a Chinese section to the menu as well….. enjoy : )“

“Great-quality food, an open, welcoming, clean space, and, most importantly—a great staff. Had to take a selfie because they were so pleasant! Vietnamese restaurants can sometimes be a miss when it comes to professionalism and friendly service, but these ppl made sure our table had everything we needed.
My husband and I shared a meal because we didn’t want to waste food, and one of the staff members—presumably the owner—even came over and offered me a complimentary meal. This place stands as definitely an example of stellar service: nothing over the top, just genuine, honest kindness 💯 💕😍“

“I love the food here. But i went there tonight around 730 and it was frigid outside. Just as we were sitting down to eat our food the worker decided to open the doors to carry all the outdoor furniture in then kept them open while he changed trash outside too. Not a care in the world for how freezing it was for his customers. It was extremely disappointing. We drive like 25 minutes to eat here. May be a while before we do that again.“

“Just had the best banh mi sandwich of my life! Bread was warm and flaky, filling was spicy but not overwhelming, everything was fresh, and it came out in the time it took me to go wash my hands—all for under $6! I stumbled on this place with no expectations, but cannot WAIT to eat here again.“

“While it's a typical menu you'd expect from a Vietnamese restaurant, the quality of food is higher than most. Bahn Mi sandwich was amazing, Pho broth was excellent, and my rice combo platter with pork chop was expertly grilled and juicy. Definitely worth a visit.“

“I’ve been getting banh mi from Cafe Cuong for over 15 years, they have the best banh mi in town. However, last time I went in 2025, the young guy at the counter overcharged $5…this is not about the 5 bucks that he try to steal, it’s about even with loyal customers, he’s still trying to to screw over. Really smart running the business..I stop going!“

“This is my fourth visit. The place is clean and comfortable; the staff members who served me were very friendly and polite, and the food and drinks were very fresh and delicious. The only thing I don't understand is why they don't have a restroom available—something I feel is necessary—as I wanted to be able to wash my hands before and after eating, but I couldn't.“

“A cute coffee shop with great drinks! For those familiar with the scene in Houston, their pandan foam coffee is similar to Le'DRIP, but with richer coffee notes and their lychee matcha is similar to that of Kohiko's (though nothing will beat Kohiko in my heart!). It was really nice to get good Viet coffee !! (We've been struggling to find a good spot 😭)“

“Best restaurant in the world and I stand by this. If Pho Xe Lua Viet Thai has 1,000 fans, I'm one of them. If Pho Xe Lua Viet Thai has 4 fans, I'm one of them. If Pho Xe Lua Viet Thai has 0 fans, I'm dead. Menu is seemingly impossible expansive and yet everything is excellent. I routinely get the BBQ beef and pork on rice and it's been a religious experience every. Single. Damn. Time.“

“We always come for the hoagie and coffee, grab and go. Don't be fooled by the lackluster neighborhood and surrounding area, Vinh Long Cafe is an amazing Vietnamese cafe and restaurant that is surely overlooked and underrated. It is a secret gem in South Philly. The Vietnamese iced coffee is made perfectly and the Vietnamese hoagie is unbelievably fresh and authentic. One reason it doesn't get the visits and accolades it deserves is probably due to its environment. Often the cafe seems to be filled with only local friends or family just hanging out. Sometimes the place is completely empty and they play traditional news or music. It doesn't seem too welcoming to those who don't speak the language, but don't be intimidated as this is just the traditional ways of the people there. Just walk up to the owner - who is always at counter - and ask for a Vietnamese hoagie and coffee. They make the hoagie on order right there in front of you. It's fresh and as authentic as it gets. Eat there or take it to go. It's worth the try.“

“My bf is from vietnam and when he misses good home food, we come here!! We’ve tried a good amount of dishes but the ones we recommend are: Banh Canh soup noodle, Mi Quang, Banh Tam Bi, and the Banh Mi with Cha siu. All are very solid choices. The food is authentic, and prices are reasonable. Also the owner is super friendly we love it here.TDLR: It feels like your Asian mom or dad made you a delicious home cooked meal. Would recommend.“
