“Between the confusing menu and the long time that I waited for my roll, I was ready to write this place off, but the food is delicious. I had the ghost chicken roll and it's more flavorful than spicy. They could add more sides to the menu - something with a vegetable in it, so that I can make it a full meal. Otherwise, it's a bit pricey for a product that seems like it's in the snack category.

Ding ding fried noodles were quite authentic, just a bit salty. Lamb pilaf wasn’t greasy, which I liked. Lamb skewers were tender and not gamey.

Service was okay but a bit inexperienced — had to remind for water.

“Overall we had a great meal. The lamb was a bit too strong in flavor and aroma for my taste but I enjoyed everything else. The Afghan naan was so interesting ) crispy on the outside while staying soft and fluffy on the inside). The grilled meat was flavorful, the dumplings and the sauce were good, and the eggplant ended up being my favorite dish. The portions were generous, especially the rice, and the prices were very reasonable for the amount of food. We also got the house made pistachio pudding for dessert, and it was good without being too sweet.“

Even just leaving Berlin and Brandenburg, the kebab experience changes within Germany. The further you get away from Berlin, the worse the kebabs get. Some time ago in New York, I discovered one or two places trying to make a kebab. Unfortunately, I have not yet been able to find a proper kebab in New York, despite the name kebab. What was being sold was called a kebab, but had very little to do with a kebab and tasted even less like a kebab. All the more enlightenment then... the recommendation of a friend living in Brooklyn. "German Doner Kebab" in Brooklyn. And then the first kebab there since 2018 here in New York. I can't even describe how happy I was. It looked like a kebab, it tasted like a kebab and came pretty close to a kebab from Berlin. Really well made. Incl. tax 12.51 dollars is a bit steep, but still good value for New York. We eat inside atleast twice a week, the restaurant is always clean and spotless, and Ellie is our usual server: she's truly the greatest! “Been to this place quite a few times and we are big fans now! The two items I would say are absolute must have are the steamed veggie momos and the paneer tikka tacos!

Those tacos are genuinely so so so tasty! And the momos here are our absolute favorites in JC / NYC. I don’t think anyone makes better momos than them - and if you disagree, we are happy to do a taste test haha. We have tried the fried momos and steamed momos and while both are great, we are partial to the steamed ones!

The owner, Mr Rana, is super friendly. He accommodated us on a busy night on Karwa Chauth, he is always super friendly when we walk in with our baby in her car seat or stroller and helps us make space and get her situated very comfortably.

“We went to River Edge branch on Friday night - the music and atmosphere are great.Restaurant is beautiful. They have very good singer/DJ, people were dancing till very late. Food is good too - we ordered lamb shish kebab, fried potatoes, stuffed mushrooms, samsa, some salads - everything was delicious. Highly recommended.“

I just wish they had changed the name 6 years ago after they started closing every Saturday, as C.S.S. is quite the mouthful to remember while gossiping about good places to try. they have about a dozen seats inside and another dozen on a sidewalk shed with quiet low foot traffic. for VHQ adherents, this is a must try, then try again and again until you've sampled the entire menu.“

Delicious Yemeni food, likely the best in Queens, whether sit down, take-out, or from their street grill, coupled with the friendly service will keep me and my family coming back. Take the poor reviews of this business and set them aside as merely bad judgment on the reviewer's. This is not a fast food restaurant! “Tucked-away location. The dining room walls are hung with gorgeous handwoven tapestries. I don't remember what the Host said they were called. He is a lovely and engaging gentleman who answered my many questions. I'm grateful to have caught him at a pre-dinner lull.
Ariana is what we call a hidden gem. Definitely stop by at a lull for your first visit. I think you'll be back again.“
