“I was very surprised, but we had a good experience here today for breakfast. Even though this establishment is very close to our home, located off a busy Route 46 East in Elmwood Park, past experiences and the fact that we never saw the parking lot too crowded had us staying away from Parkway Diner. Upon entering, we were greeted by the staff and were seated right away in the dining room to the left of the entrance. The food is standard diner food, with a good selection on the menu. We decided on the waffle tower (layers of French toast and waffle quarters with banana, strawberries, and walnuts topped with whipped cream and chocolate syrup) and 2 eggs scrambled with turkey sausage, accompanied by crispy home fries and wheat butter toast. The service was good, but the food was even better with huge portions. The prices were very typical of what you will find now at any diner in the area. This place is as solid as any neighborhood diner. Go and give it a try.“

“Food is not that great and kinda pricey for what it was. Just basic diner food. Staff though is fun and very talented! The singing is a lot of fun. I just wish they did more musical theatre songs and less pop songs! (Might have just been there at a bad time, but there was a lot of non musical theatre when I was there). Fun place to experience once, especially if you're into Broadway. Very loud though (obviously) so just fyi.“

“We came for breakfast on 4/27/24. I have a gluten allergy. I ordered scrambled eggs, potatoes, and bacon (it also comes with toast, but I obviously told them bc of gluten to hold the bread) I also got the seasonal fruit which was blueberries and strawberries. Everything was delicious! The best part was I didn’t get glutened. My daughter got the pancakes and a hot chocolate and said they were very good. The pancakes were HUGE! (I didn’t get a picture of them). My aunt got an omelet and she said it was very good as well. There was a line and we waited maybe 5 mins. The waiter was very friendly and once we ordered the food came out really fast. Highly recommend!!Dietary restrictions: Gluten Allergy“

“This place being the oldest diner in New Jersey (1925), walking in was like stepping back in time. The man running the place was very nice, it was fun and enjoyable having a conversation with him. It was great as my friend and I sat at the counter watching our food being cooked on the grill right in front of us. My friend ordered their stuffed pancakes, and they were as big as a flying saucer! I had the standard sunny side eggs, toast, bacon and sausage. Everything was delicious and had that classic old time diner taste we all remember. My friend and I are definitely going back there again very soon as it was that enjoyable.“

“Before I went back to college after spring break, me and my family took a stop at the Colonial Diner to get some food for diner, driving into the parking lot and getting seated pretty quickly. There were a good amount of other people in the diner, so getting a seat quickly was nice. Service wasn't anything special, but I don't really mind. The atmosphere of the diner is great, a very retro feel like it just came out of the early to mid 1900s. It was a cozy vibe. We got the 21 shrimp, breakfast burger, french toast, and some fish that was a special- sorry for forgetting the name. Really liked my breakfast burger and my sister's french toast. The shrimp was pretty basic though, and I think the fish could've been seasoned a bit better (it still tasted good!).Overall a pretty good place to drop into if you're looking for an affordable bite with a nice vibe.“

“We came here on a Saturday and from start to finish Ray’s was enjoyable. The staff was very friendly and for it to be as crowded as it was they were very engaging with the customers. The food came out quickly and was delicious! Truly a wonderful family owned spot! Will definitely be going back.“

“We had lunch here, and sat outside on a lovely fall day. Service was a bit funky -- not bad at all, but somewhat forgetful -- but the staff was friendly, apologetic when appropriate, and enjoyable. The food was very good. Classic old-style diner with a broad-ranging menu. Everything we had was well-prepared, tasty, and served hot. I'll go back. A little gem.“

“American pancakes are a must, absolutely one of the most important dishes to try that I wanted to include. I ate the most delicious dishes here. Blueberry was tempting with the photo on the menu, but it totally blew you away in person. Served additionally with fruit and maple syrup - real gold in a huge portion ? Eggs with salad and avocado toast served really beautifully and tasty. Nice promotion for Mimosa, but it's only worth it if you drink 4 or more of these drinks, the taste itself wasn't the best, so we're glad we didn't try more. The service was okay, although the waiting time was a bit long to approach the table and show interest. Generally, a very nice place with a large selection of dishes.“

“Burgers and Chinese food at one place, never would have thought! Burgers were good, big and juicy, and relatively inexpensive. The "caramelized onions" were those fried onions you get from a can and not really caramelized onions. But for 10 bucks with fries and a can of soda, im ok with it.“

“We have dined at both Brooklyn Diner locations for breakfast and dinner and both experiences were excellent. These locations have the classic diner feel which seems harder and harder to find these days. Most recently we were in for dinner, the spicy margaritas were a perfect start to a fun meal with Genina(?). We shared the Mexican burrito bowl and the burger for dinner and the bowl was outstanding. It felt like a home-cooked meal in the big city. Genina was attentive and welcoming from start to finish. The burger and fries were well executed. We will be back for the pot pie and the lasagna ASAP.“

“Bendix diner is like stepping back into time. It's nice to see an old school diner like this. Don't let it's facade fool you into thinking that the food is greasy or average. Quite the contrary, the quality of food is very good, the portions are of good size and the prices are reasonable. There are artisan hot sauces on each table and counter, the syrup is maple syrup only but with cool flavors like Madagascar vanilla, cinnamon, habanero and others. Also the tea, they use premium tea leaves. All of that struck me as odd in a good way. The owner John and his son Michael are wonderful. They are attentive and provide good service. Their food is excellent. I had a turkey club there that rivaled 4 star hotel restaurants. It's truly a hidden gem“

“This place is a 10/10! I definitely recommend this restaurant. I come to New Jersey often to see family and they always told me about this diner. I finally decided to visit and am very happy with the result. The atmosphere is awesome and I see they have other locations that I plan to visit too!“

“Todays breakfast was enjoyed at The Golden Grill Restaurant in Teaneck, NJ. It's a cute breakfast nook tucked amongst a row stores and shops on a busy road in Teaneck, but the vibe is homey and comfortable. The staff is super down to earth and have this bustling little restaurant working like clockwork. The prices were great and the food was stick to your ribs good. We wound up ordering the following menu items: - chicken noodle soup - corned beef hash with eggs and grits - Smoked ham and eggs - hot chocolate“

“First and foremost, before I even discuss the food I want to address the fact that all of the staff at the diner today seemed genuinely happy to be there. Having worked in food service, that’s generally unheard of. Big props to the owner/ management for creating an environment like that. Now the food: I’m gluten intolerant. I couldn’t contain my smile when I saw the extensive gluten free options and heard of the lengths the kitchen goes to ensure allergy safety. I can’t remember the last time I have had so many wonderful options and could order something so easily. I got the chicken fingers and they were wonderful.Lastly: Safe is a fantastic server and very clearly cares a lot about the diner patrons. Every table that gets him as their server is just as lucky to have him as the diner is.Thank you for a great dinner ? I will be back OFTEN“

“Been going to the OD for years now. Before covid I had asked the manager why they didn't use Heinz ketchup, he said it was a supply issue. Fast forward to 2024, the ketchup on tables is still a knock off brand of Heinz. The irony is that when I order take out the ketchup packets are Heinz. If a restaurant is blatantly showing they are cutting a corner what other shortcuts are they taking? I can't complain about the service or the food, just the ketchup on the table. Sometimes I'll order a baked potato rather than fries so I don't have to use weird-tasting ketchup. For a $17 sandwich, give me Heinz!“

“High number of Google reviews are justified. Loved this diner! Fajita omelette and banana pancakes were really good. Fortunately there was no waiting over the Easter weekend. Sit by the windows, and enjoy some good sunshine while having your brunch. Service was a bit slow as we had to remind about our orders thrice, but the staff was very pleasant to work with. Great place for brunch!“

“This diner was nice and had a very old school atmosphere. It's not my type but if it is then a good place. Food was good but not as good as other diners I've been to. Overall would recommend going here for a more classic feeling diner.“

“Great neighborhood spot with standard fare. Definitely a spot worth checking out for breakfast/brunch. They are currently renovating/expanding part of their dining area so ESPRESSO DRINKS ARE NOT AVAILABLE. I would call ahead to see if they're back on the menu if it's a deal breaker for you. Good variety of food and super quick service no matter how packed it may be. They are also fairly accommodating if you need to adjust/remove an item from a dish or two.“

“I'm rating this place based on their breakfast food. It was exactly what I expected and wanted. They were quick to seat and take our order. And the food was also quick and precise. I went on a sunday noon and it was completely packed. They are a small place that give a retro feel to it. And the ladies working it also give it a home-ish feel. I liked it! The omelets and pancakes were real good and i had no complaints. I guess the only slight dislike i had were the potatoes,as they were a bit burnt as you can see on the picture. Its nothing spectacular but they delivered and at a reasonable price as well! Overall really enjoyed it and would go back for some quick breakfast!“

“Best breakfast value in the area. Serves real home fries, not the low budget frozen hashed browns like other local diners. They have tons of regulars, a testament to the quality and consistency. One negative - the server(woman) is always in a bad mood and it shows.“

“Need a quick cup of coffee or their famous "Tower" breakfast sandwich then head to Abbie's. This small restaurant has 4 tables and about 6 bar stools. They have great pancakes and a good cup of coffee. Many locals go here for their morning caffeine hit and local news. People call in their orders and run in and pick up. It's a "guy" kind of place and many local landscapers, and tradesmen are getting a great breakfast sandwich and coffee on the run for a very reasonable price. I wouldn't recommend it if you're going with your girlfriends though.“

“Great place for breakfast/brunch. Very busy every time I've been but worth the wait. They have a bar you can seat yourself if there is a spot and parking is a nightmare but they do have overflow parking a short walk away. It's an adorable place reminiscent of Alice in Wonderland type decor. The staff is friendly and service is pretty prompt even when hopping. My daughter has had the cheese blintzes and I've had the Arepa Benedict and the Godfather omelet. Everything is always delicious. They have lunch and dinner type selections also and serve cocktails after 12 noon. It has fast become my go to stop on my way back to PA from NYC. Be patient, be kind and you won't be disappointed. Even the landscape is whimsical with statues of children playing hidden all around the castle like building.“

My friend got the Irish coffee with the chicken croissant sandwich. The sandwich came with a side of zucchini fries. Overall a nice place with parking available.“

“This is our go to spot. There is an immediate "welcome home" feeling when you walk in. The staff is extremely welcoming and accommodating. I know it says diner in the name; however, that doesn't do it justice. The hardest thing whenever we come is deciding what to get, which in this case is a good thing. We always know we will have amazing food and friendly, attentive service. Also, let me tell you, the chicken francaise over penne is pastably the best I've ever had.“

“This is a very good old school diner. I've been coming here for years. They are always courteous and the food is reliable. I was in the mood for grilled chicken with honey mustard on a roll. It wasn't on their menu as that but they were more than happy to make it for me. They have a number of daily specials and they are different all the time so you can be a regular without getting bored.“
