Restaurantji's guide to Englishtown's top Mexican dining experiences.
“First of all the service is great,I ordered before hand so that I would be able to get there and have my food already made,And the girl on the phone was very nice and patient, she also explained to me what certain things were that I didn’t understand because they were in Spanish. The food was very good and filling. But I do recommend ordering by the serving size they give you and not ordering 1 quesadilla because the serving is two.The prices were reasonable and for (a torta, tacos, soles a side of Mexican cactus) I only paid around 40 including beverages.“
“At Rosalita Restaurant, I indulged in a delightful dinner experience where the vegetarian food options truly shined. From flavorful veggie tacos bursting with fresh ingredients to hearty enchiladas stuffed with beans and cheese, every dish offered a delicious twist on Mexican cuisine. The restaurant's dedication to providing satisfying and creative vegetarian options made for a memorable dining experience.“
“So for me personally, I didn’t actually like the food. But I don’t want to review bomb this because it’s not my preference so I gave it the average amount of stars it has. Anyway, I got a birthday burrito today from using the app so I only paid for the guac and white chicken. It came to $3 for a burrito and the chips they give free. I was really craving chipotle to be honest but I had the free burrito here so I decided to give it a try. I drove half an hour due to traffic, and I instantly regretted it when I tried the burrito. Idk it just didn’t taste good? Very bland. I got in a ton of add ins and it still didn’t add flavor. I actually was questing if there was even guac in the burrito but yes, I eventually saw the green. The only thing that redeemed this bland burrito was the Moe’s sauce I decided to get on the side. That was pretty good but I had to cover each bite in it. I will probably never go to Moe’s again. Not even for a free burrito. In fact I colossally wasted my time and regret ever leaving my house…and I’m a foodie, I don’t mind driving for good, free, food.I will say though, the place was absolutely spotless and very nice looking inside. You can tell whoever is running this place cares about it. The staff were friendly and very nice too which always helps. Moe’s just isn’t for me…If you’re like me, and you’re craving chipotle but you don’t really want to support them because of their inconsistent quality and other issues, just don’t bother getting anything at all.“
“First time trying this place, went out with family. With so many places to eat in boro it’s easy to overlook but this place had great food, great light background music, and fast charming service. Serving sizes were perfect, the chimichanga was bangin, no wallet pain either. Will definitely eat here “
“My girlfriend and I have been coming here for well over a year now, and it is unbelievable how consistently good the quality of the food is. It gets better every single time we go. The Al pastor tacos melt in your mouth, with the perfect amount of pineapple and smoky flavor. Highly recommend. Service, atmosphere is phenomenal as well.“
“The food was so delicious that I forgot to capture pictures. The chicken milenese was some of the thinnest and tenderest cutlets I've had in my life. The portion was enough for 2 meals at least. The smoky salsa was unique and delicious. It came in medium and then there was a hotter version . My husband was in love with his birria tacos. They have freshly made aqua frescas as well as horchata! We had the hibiscus and the watermelon...both delicious. The atmosphere is casual. The dining area and counter have a fun and quirky decor. There is a life size day of the dead skeleton dressed in traditional garments that was really cool. I really wish I took pictures because words are not enough. Try this place!!“
“This place is amazing I went there based on the reviews I was a bit nervous as my family and I love Mexican food and we have our fav spot but we were ready to explore soemthing new and let me tell you this is THE BEST MEXICAN FOOD is simple but delicious the tortillas were so fresh and the chips and salsa verde WOW it was a party in my mouth. We loved it and its definitely our #1 spot. Alfredo the owner sat and talked to us and was super friendly also. We really recommend this place. ?“
“We stopped in for dinner based on an Instagram post I saw about the Birria tacos being awesome. While I agree the pricing is a bit high you can tell the ingredients are fresh and good quality....they haven't been sitting under a heat lamp for 8 hours. The staff was super friendly! We had the birria tacos which were soooo delicious they melt in your mouth! Fresh salsa and chips and a couple of street tacos....all very delicious and fresh!! We will definitely be back for more!!! Give this place a try....its worth it!“
“A warm weather day calls for an outdoor dinner at Maria's! Got my usual go to which is Maria's Burrito. A regular burrito but drenched in their mole sauce. Then I add their la diabla sauce on top to make it spicy. Chefs Kiss. The shrimp la diabla is also a good go to and that thing packs heat! The residential cat was out and about. I'm pretty sure I saw it last time I dined outside too. The cat is real chill. It just roams. A side note: they updated the look of their menu. Reorganized the flow of items, text size, and prices.“
“My husband and I were just driving through and stumbled across this place. First off by far the best tacos I've ever had in New Jersey! I grew up in Southern California 15 minutes from the Tijuana border, this is the closest thing I've ever come across to real Mexican food. I'm sad I live an hour away and hope to have a reason real soon to drive down that way again!“
