“Ordered the General Tso’s Chicken with Pork Fried Rice and it was good, but what really impressed me is I was able to microwave the leftovers and NOT have it taste like absolute garbage which is a rarity for Chinese food. It also means the owners use fresher ingredients than most places. 5 stars, definitely going to be going here more often for lunch before work.“
“I've actually eat here many times over the years. And for the most part I have found that their food it's good. They have a good variety including some sushi. You can eat in but don't expect ambience you can take out and have it delivered. It's a great little local Chinese restaurant.“

“Uniquely seasoned food served promptly and pleasantly. Outdoor seating is available in a private booth design that's very 'public' since it's on the sidewalk. The interior design is remincent of authentic Chinese culture with wooden dragons carved in the wall. You can sit at the bar or sit in the main dining area. The culinary delights are streamed, gluten free or lightly fried. The chilli sauce/oil is a nice surprise it's fragrant with a hint of perfume of anise, cardamom and clove, amongst other herbs, all smothered in oils and Sichuan pepper. I highly recommend this spot.“

“Went to china gourmet for lunch midweek. Not crowded at all although the large free parking lot was pretty full due to the nearby Asian supermarket. We were seated immediately and the dim sum carts came by very soon after. There seemed to be 3 carts with dim sum and one with soups. Plenty of choices although the language barrier made it something of an adventure. For instance I ordered some buns which I thought the server had said were poppyseed, which I confirmed with her. They turned out to be some sort of onion mixture. They were delicious nonetheless. We also tried the signature salt and pepper squid dish. It was different for other fried calamari we have had and was very good. We tried several varieties of dumplings and they were unremarkable. Service was efficient. The place is very large but lacks atmosphere. Other than the fish tanks and tvs on the wall there wasn’t much decor. For to try the different options from the carts but we could have benefitted greatly from having someone with us that could tell us what the choices really were.“

“Atmosphere is super good. Restaurant opened only about a year so not well known yet but dishes are authentic and delicious. Restaurant is very clean and neat. Very large menu with all kinds of dishes with quite good vegetarian selections as well! The restaurant is right on the race street in Chinatown I have been passing by many times but never paid attention to probably because their sign is not very obvious to people on the sidewalk. Great place to eat in. They have dim sum in the morning.“

Pricey but overall a good experience!
The restaurant is on the 3rd floor. There is an elevator going straight to the restaurant.
Spacious and family friendly.

“Toothpick Lamb – 🏆 favorite! Was a dry rub spice on small pieces of lamb on toothpicks. Learned the toothpick is so the lamb doesn’t stick together when cooking
Salt & Pepper Fried Frog 🐸 this was good. Would have liked a little bigger pieces
Sautéed Eggplant with Green Beans 🍆 well flavored. I liked that the eggplants were not falling apart. The skin was soft but not mushy
Mapo Tofu with minced meat 🍛 we felt this was average. Not bad but would get something else instead next time to try“

“For those who grew up in Cantonese households all know what “熱氣 (yit hei)” is all about lol.
What first caught my eye was the name: “Heung Fa Chun” (杏花邨) is actually the name of a real housing estate in Hong Kong, which instantly gave me a sense of authenticity.
They serve all kinds of nostalgic HK style snacks, from steamed buns and zongzi to traditional pastries and desserts. A true hole-in-the-wall gem in Philly Chinatown.
I was feeling a bit “yit hei” (literally “hot air” in Cantonese), so I grabbed myself a 龜苓膏 (herbal jelly/gui ling gao, aka “turtle jelly”). It's one of the go-to remedies for combatting yit hei. If you’re feeling yit hei, like breaking out, getting sore throats, or even indigestion, you need to eat some gwai ling go.
I was quite surprised to find it here. My mom would be so proud I got it without her having to tell me.
Warning: it’s VERY bitter if you eat it on its own. Definitely add the syrup to turn it into a healthy sweet trea.“

“My father, grandmother and I visited this location today and had a good experience. We ordered a bowl of hot and sour soup which was shared between all three of us with some left over. Of course we had the lettuce wraps which were delicious as to be expected. I liked the way the meals were served... if you wanted to share your meal with others they provide extra plates. My firecracker shrimp was delicious. Not too spicy but not bland at all. My father had changes spicy chicken and my grandmother had the Teriyaki beef. Everything was delicious. Our server Sam was great and packed up all of our left overs. The best part of the meal was the limited time dessert called the Pink Slip cheesecake! It was to die for. I would recommend that dessert to everyone!
Only negative was that both my grandmother and my father thought the music was too loud but when we mentioned it to the server she tried to address the issue for us.“

“Jiang nan is always my go-to option when I don't know where to eat. And whenever I'm here, I always order peking duck. It's probably not the best pecking duck out there but is pretty solid. I discover that this salted egg shrimp is soo good! Each shrimp is big and has a crunchy shell covered in delicious salted egg sauce. The veggie is also good with the bean curd seasoning. I would not order dan dan noodle again because it is pretty bland.“

“Got to the restaurant and we were seated immediately, given menus, and they seemed to sense as soon as we were ready to order, no waiting involved. The food was amazing! The broth of the beef noodle soup was so rich and hot, the cold sesame noodles were the right level of spicy and very chewy, and the Chinese hamburgers were fresh, warm, and crispy on the outside/soft on the inside (try adding chili oil!) Everything came out very quickly and fed our whole table for such great prices.“
“Chang San another hole-in-the-wall authentic, true Southern Chinese/Szechuan restaurant of a hidden gem. The aroma, flavours, taste are so immensely delectable and deep. Stir-fry and seasoned/sauteed dishes/sizzling dishes are impeccably tantalizing. Reasonable prices and portions, as well. Parking is yet another challenge in the Philadelphia area, so side-street parking may be available (metered, maybe)“

“In response to Kyle Rosenthal's comment, you wish you had 50k followers. Your comment screams "KAREN!!!". I've ordered there before and not only was the service good despite not being as fluent in English, and they were also kind. I hope you don't come back to the store again, It spares their effort in dealing with problematic people like you.“
