“The food was good just lack on some seasoning. The price was affordable. Its very different from what I am used to. You get a lot of food for the price. Very well worth it. The only thing is, they brought out the food as it was being done. meaning some people on the table was waiting while others were eating. They should bring the food out all together and not 1 by 1.“

“I can't really comment on the atmosphere as this is primarily a take out place, but this is BY FAR the best Chinese takeout for miles in any direction. The food is great, the prices are lower than nearly everyone else's, and they are super friendly and attentive tyo any alterations you might ask for (extra spicy,, etc.) There are closer places to me but I'll never go anywhere else in teh Somerdale/HI-Nella area again. Skip the rest, and go here for the best!“

“Delicious, new favorite Chinese spot. Chicken was quality white meat and tender. Smaller pieces of chicken not big and chunky. We got the orange chicken, the sesame chicken and got a free hot and sour soup instead of an egg roll. The best hot and sour soup I ever had. All the veggies were fresh, extremely happy to find a new Chinese spot before almost giving up looking. Amazing family working hard.“

“I love their Big Buns! Being a Filipino, my favorite dimsum is Bola Bola siopao (a bun stuffed with pork, chinese sausage and salted egg) which I found out is not available here locally. But when I discovered Bao Mama, they sell Big Buns which is quite similar to a Bola Bola siopao! I was hooked! Plus the Big Buns ARE HUGE and has a generous amount of filling! I just love them! I am also looking forward to try their other products.“

Generous portions. 3 combo platters,lo mein and the lady threw in a free garlic chicken and broccoli quart for free. We paid about 37 bucks which is pretty awesome!! “I liked the interior, and service was friendly and quick. I liked the fried dumplings and cucumber salad. I wouldn't say the main dish was great though. I got stir fried rice with chicken and I couldn't finish it since it was a bit too greasy and i asked for a box. The photo shows the remaining oil from the leftovers.

I inhaled the lychee cake, it was rose forward but airy. The Hong Kong tea is the perfect breakfast or lunch drink. The fried chicken is insanely crispy.“

“TL;DR: Easily one of my favorite restaurants to eat at. The food here always hits and their portion sizes are out of this world. You absolutely should make this one of your go to spots!

Whenever I'm in the area, this is the place I go to. There hasn't been a single item on the menu that I didn't like. But if I had to pick just one, it would have to be the Cumin lamb. If I didn't convince you to give this place a try already, then let that lamb speak for itself. It's honestly one of the main reasons I keep coming back here. Tender, flavorful, and brings comfort to your soul. There are few places that can serve you up a good lamb dish, and Chef Zhang is one of the rare few. I honestly don't understand how they are so consistent with their food too, but it's exactly why I find myself getting food from them over and over again.

If you haven't tried this place, you absolutely should! And if you have and read my review, you should share your own experience too. Cause certain you'll love it just as much as I do!“

“For those who grew up in Cantonese households all know what “熱氣 (yit hei)” is all about lol.

What first caught my eye was the name: “Heung Fa Chun” (杏花邨) is actually the name of a real housing estate in Hong Kong, which instantly gave me a sense of authenticity.

They serve all kinds of nostalgic HK style snacks, from steamed buns and zongzi to traditional pastries and desserts. A true hole-in-the-wall gem in Philly Chinatown.

I was feeling a bit “yit hei” (literally “hot air” in Cantonese), so I grabbed myself a 龜苓膏 (herbal jelly/gui ling gao, aka “turtle jelly”). It's one of the go-to remedies for combatting yit hei. If you’re feeling yit hei, like breaking out, getting sore throats, or even indigestion, you need to eat some gwai ling go.

I was quite surprised to find it here. My mom would be so proud I got it without her having to tell me.

Warning: it’s VERY bitter if you eat it on its own. Definitely add the syrup to turn it into a healthy sweet trea.“
