They do have the best bagels and mozarella in nj and ny. They are also very welcoming! I’m looking forward to trying their food that I haven’t tried.“

Their menu is the perfect balance of the classic NYC bagels we know and love, but with some newer flavor combos added to the menu that make eating here both nostalgic and exciting. The Presto Pesto is one of my favorite sandwiches in the city. Make sure you try their chocolate muffins as well. While it can get busy, the staff are friendly and attentive.“

“Nana’s Deli has recently rebranded as the first and only sourdough bagel shop in Jersey City. They use sourdough starter from my favorite neighborhood bakery, Sourdough Society.

Each bagel is made fresh daily. Their sourdough bagels have a light crisp on the outside and a soft, pillowy center. They’re chewy without being tough, so they won’t break your jaw.

I’ve been picking up sourdough loaves regularly from Sourdough Society, located right inside Nana’s Bagel. Truly some of my favorite sourdough around!

My favorite! I love an open-faced bagel, and the sourdough base made it even better. The lox was perfectly savory, layered over a generous swipe of scallion cream cheese with red onion and capers. Truly a chef's kiss.

I’ve always loved Nana’s hot pastrami sandwich, and this sourdough bagel version was just as good. The pastrami was smoky, tender, and juicy. As a carnivore, I just wished there were a few more pastrami slices.“

“I was visiting and asked someone on the street where I could grab a bagel and they directed me to Bagel Bob’s. So thankful they did. Best bagels, incredible people, generous friendly caring family people. They greeted me warmly every day, remembered what we talked about the day before, asked about my day and seemed genuinely interested. This was my first solo trip and they made me feel right at home. And a beautiful plant showed up on my last day which was lovely. I’ll definitely be staying in this neighborhood the next time I’m visiting but daily breakfast here just isn’t enough. We're all lucky in NJ that most bagels we can get are at least okay, but these were a cut above! And the cream cheese was delicious and fresh - vegetables still had a little crunch!

Also, I appreciate that they discourage people coming in and just buying up all the bagels. In the 5 minutes I was in there, lots of people popped in, clearly regulars, for their breakfast. It definitely felt like a go-to place in the community and they make sure they can be open to serve as many as possible. That's cool. I look forward to returning!“

“Absolutely the best bagel there is. Each one no matter the flavor is a delight. And their food that they put on the bagel is delicious. Get there before 3;30 PM if you want sliced cheese because they close the slicer at 3;30. I know if I get there at 3;32 PM the slicer is off. So I get tuna fish instead and it’s about as good as it gets. The staff is friendly and do a good job. What a place!“

“Found my new bagel store. Used to go to Modern but the place went so far downhill (they use a Panini Press to toast a bagel, yuk), then I saw River Rd Bagels. Wow, what a world of difference. Better prices, much better food and a great team! Definitely my new bagel store! Thank you!!!!!!!“

I found the bagels to be soft enough for my kid which was a big deal for him.

Ordered two iced macchiatos without the sugar which was really good

The lady at the register was sweet and welcoming.

It got busy and they handled it really well, it wasn’t a mad house like some places get.“

A plain bagel loaded with cream cheese inside, then topped with melted cheese and garlic butter. So simple but SO good. What really made the visit stand out was the service. The owner came by to greet us personally, which was such a nice touch, and even let us try their coconut pound cake. They also have a parking lot, which makes it super convenient.
