“If you're cruising through Uptown Asbury Park you must stop by here. Booskerdoo isn’t just your standard pitstop for caffeine; this is their main roasting mothership, and you can see (and smell when roasting) the serious business the second you walk up to the door.

Let's talk about that liquid gold. I ordered a hot latte with whole milk, finished off with a quick dusting of cinnamon over the foam. One sip and I was hooked, we’re talking a rich, velvety microfoam floating over espresso so balanced it could walk a tightrope. Naturally, because I never meet a light roast I don't like, I got a cup of their Guatemalan El Panal to go. Bright, clean, and really smooth. It’s proof these folks know exactly what they’re doing with a coffee bean. (I hope to get there some day in my micro roaster at home. lol).

Now, I didn't initially plan on grabbing a bite, but the pastry case is a complete trap. While those peanut butter and jelly bars almost lured me in, I ended up pairing my latte with a fresh cranberry scone.

It was a match made in coffee heaven. Flaky, tender, delightfully buttery, and studded with cranberries, it’s the exact kind of pastry that turns a quick coffee run into a full-blown Sit back and relax) lingering experience.

The real showstopper inside, though, is the giant Diedrich roaster sitting right out on the floor alongside literal pallets of green coffee beans. You see Booskerdoo beans popping up at spots all over the Jersey Shore, so seeing the actual industrial engine where the magic happens is really cool. My only minor tragedy of the day? The roaster wasn't firing while I was there. I would’ve loved to hear that machine humming and soak in the full aroma of fresh-roasting beans, but hey, that just gives me an excuse to come back tomorrow.“

“I have dined here multiple times. The food is always great as is the service. The restaurant has a cute vibe, however the last few times I have eaten here the restaurant has been extremely dirty. The silverware is not clean and the tables and floors are not clean. The tables nearby remain uncleared for the duration of our dining. As a seattle person the price was soooo reasonable. I had the Pumpkin Spice roast (flavored beans, as drip coffee) and the medium roast and both were excellent.

“Just fabulous. I heard of Rook coffee frankly from Alix Earle on TikTok. Anyways I was in red bank and saw a sign and thought that might be that place she kept talking about.

I didn’t have high expectations or anything but I was curious. And it is fabuloussssss - the New Orleans cold brew! I had New Orleans cold brew in New Orleans and always try it black first. When I did it had a very licorice bitter taste. Rook advertised theirs as dark chocolatey and that is what it truly was. I could drink it black but then I added oat milk and it is divine. Love love love! Thank you Rook! Come to NYC 😘“

“While visiting family in New Jersey, I decided to check out Asbury Park Roastery on a Sunday morning and was thoroughly impressed.

As I pulled up, I could see someone in the attached roastery next door working on a fresh batch of coffee beans. Inside, the shop has a fantastic selection of retail items including bagged teas, fresh coffee, Chemex pour overs, AeroPresses, and even a sleek vacuum sealing coffee container that I am strongly considering purchasing. They also have a few neat branded shirts on display along the wall.

The seating area is very comfortable with roughly 15 tables that accommodate anywhere from two to four people, along with soft lounge chairs and end tables. It proved to be a wonderful spot to sit back, listen to the background music, and do some weekly planning. I also noticed they had beach style chairs you could take outside to enjoy the lovely weather, however it was drizzling a bit when I arrived so I opted for the comfy leather chair inside.

I ordered a latte and was thrilled that they served it in a real mug upon request. The coffee used in the drink had a darker roast profile with a bit more bitterness than my usual preference, but it was still delicious and clearly high quality.

To go with my drink, I picked a fresh cranberry scone from their display of pastry options. The scone was fantastic and paired perfectly with the warm drink. I always appreciate a coffee shop that roasts its own beans in house, and seeing the operation in action made the visit even better. “This was a soul quenching phenomena. Mike told me he got in around noon. A gem of a barista, people like him are an enormous part of the reason this culture and vibe are so revered.

Specialty coffee is anything if
not stylish, and like all things sophisticated, worth traveling for and often, waiting for. I will say though, if you go late it may be quiet enough to see the shop in a special and nuanced glow.

And yes, there is something about a remarkable cafe that just epitomizes it…. The connection to where the flavor comes from. “Easy to order with accuracy and time. Im not a fan of sandwiches just taste bland. They have every selection of donuts which they keep fresh rotating hot out of the oven. Its just me that I dont like their donuts as they all taste the with that familiar aroma. Again, that's me. You have all you expect from a Dunkin so no change in the quality. They have a drive thru that is somehow tucked within limited lot space. Its a heavily trafficked by location to main roads with a traffic light at entry from 34. Be careful of parking and walking into store. The drive thru is very active making parking entry and exit challenging due to volume and driver choices. Slow and steady on feet and car. Just be aware of your surroundings. I usually get the 1lb packages of flavor led coffee. They have a special here with purchase if these coffees. Can't remember details but the 4lb total estimare comes out $30-$41 range. Staff is friendly and efficient and the property is well maintained.“
