And wow so glad we did , the batter on the fish was done to perfection ( even better than home ) the scotch pies were top notch and the empire biscuits delicious. “Jack's Surf & Turf in Montclair, NJ, is our absolute favorite spot! This hidden gem in Montclair is a must-visit. Over the years, we've celebrated countless Girls' night-out birthdays here, and it never disappoints. From the moment you arrive until the time you leave, every detail is perfect. Greg, the owner, is incredibly welcoming and attentive; he treats us like family. Keeps our wine glasses full, and ensures we feel valued while also attending to other valued guests. The vibe is truly inviting, fabulous, super amazing & memorable! The menu offers a wonderful, wide variety of fresh and expertly cooked seafood, seafood boils, grilled steaks, salads, soups, OMG lobster mac & cheese, burgers, tacos, and scrumptious desserts! Everything is delicious, and the prices are more than reasonable, outstanding value! Highly recommend making a reservation, especially on weekends. You can BYOB; however, their wine selection is impressive as well. Generous portions, secure parking, and impeccably clean restrooms. Servers are always friendly and accommodating, happily fulfilling special requests. Nice music and occasional live entertainment enhance the experience. The Millburn, NJ, location is equally fantastic! We always start with our favorite Arugula salad - generous portions. House salad, also incredible! We adore Garlic Old Bay Shrimp appetizers, fried calamari, crab cakes, BUTTERY lobster rolls, OMG!. For our entrées, we couldn't resist going all in! Seafood Linguine in Garlic Sauce, steamed clams, mussels, grilled salmon, and lobster tails with crabmeat stuffing (seasonal). If you don't see something on the menu that piques your interest, just ask your server if they can prepare it for you. What impresses me most is Greg's attention to detail, passion, and creativity in delivering exceptional, high-quality food, ensuring each guest feels welcome and appreciated. “TLDR: Solid fried chicken roll, chicken came out a bit too hot and maybe a bit too much on the sandwich toppings-wise.

Sandwich was served fresh, and was very good (chicken was light and almost tempura style) - the toppings gave the overall sandwich a distinctive Thai flavor. Decent value for price, and great service / cool vibe.“

“I ordered the fish (catfish) and wing combo w/seasoned rice. They did not disappoint. Service from the gate was polite and inviting and the establishment was clean. The fish was VERY seasoned. The chicken was also seasoned well. I tasted the rice first and was tempted to add salt but correctly decided not to b/c, all together, the seasoning from the fish and chicken was more than enough. Fair pricing for the genoursly proportionate meal which came with two slices of bread and a can of soda or bottled water.“

“Great happy hour spot, me up with my husband here since it’s close to his job. Delicious comfort food. We had the chicken quesadilla, caesar salad, tavern burger, and french fries. The burger was our favorite. For cocktails, I had a moscow mule and my husband had an old fashioned. Service was good and super friendly staff. John was our server and he was on point. Love the ambiance, it’s a three level floor with a rooftop biergarten. We went on a Tuesday when the weather was 90 degrees, only complaint it was so hot inside with no AC. My husband went back again the next day with his friends, he also said there was still no AC that evening. We had a good time and would still go back.“

“Happened to see this place while waiting for the bus and noticed the freshness of the seafood.
Upon entering it’s a cosy spot, not to big but enough to sit a few groups,
Ordering is simple at the counter and food came out in a timely manner. the seafood are cooked fresh and the ceviche was tasty. Definitely worth trying if in the area“

“Finally found a fish spot in Jersey that doesn't use frozen fish from a bag that you can get in ShopRite.

Very humble team that provides great customer service.

The seafood is fried to perfection - but it could use some salt. If they start making their own tartar sauce and hot sauce, this place is gonna be packed!

Still worth a visit, although I would just stick to the seafood until they start tightening up the sides with more experience cooking soul food staples.

“The best fried fish in town. Small husband and wife joint. Nothing fancy to witness but you can appreciate the food they serve it’s such a hidden gem and it’s my all time favorite spot. Took my friend here for lunch today for the first time and he said the best beans in this area hands down.“

“I'm not sure if it's a store tradition, but I should have known that you were going to serve me cold mac and cheese. Overall, the fried whiting dinner was excellent, and the fried shrimp dinner was passable but a little overcooked. Nevertheless, I gave you guys four stars without a doubt.“

“Always a pleasure to come here I love this place so bad I go to sleep dreaming about the chicken and wake up thinking about it too. The chicken here is so fresh and crunchy not to mention you can ask them for a little bit of lemon pepper seasoning to throw your wings right over the top where you need it I love this place. The food is amazing. Service is even better and the ambience is very welcoming although it's a takeout place. It's In-N-Out.“

“Someone told me they had really good fried fish so I had to check it out!! Turns out it really is good! I got a 3 piece whiting with rice and a can of soda it came with bread and coleslaw it was under $12!! amazing deal! My one negative is that I bit into the fish and I had a bunch of bones in my mouth but it wasn't throughout the whole fish. Would definitely return“

“I’m surprised at how fresh and how well the food is made here.I honestly thought this place would be like a regular chicken shack that’s why I never ordered from here.I was expecting greasy wings with soggy oil filled fries. BUT NO! So much better than I expected!The fries were crunchy and not greasy. The wings weren’t oily and they were fried perfectly!If I order fast food again I will definitely order from here.I’m glad they don’t add salt to the chicken and fries. You can add to your liking. But it’s so good a little pepper sauce or ketchup is all you need if not plain.“
