And wow so glad we did , the batter on the fish was done to perfection ( even better than home ) the scotch pies were top notch and the empire biscuits delicious. “Jack's Surf & Turf in Montclair, NJ, is our absolute favorite spot! This hidden gem in Montclair is a must-visit. Over the years, we've celebrated countless Girls' night-out birthdays here, and it never disappoints. From the moment you arrive until the time you leave, every detail is perfect. Greg, the owner, is incredibly welcoming and attentive; he treats us like family. Keeps our wine glasses full, and ensures we feel valued while also attending to other valued guests. The vibe is truly inviting, fabulous, super amazing & memorable! The menu offers a wonderful, wide variety of fresh and expertly cooked seafood, seafood boils, grilled steaks, salads, soups, OMG lobster mac & cheese, burgers, tacos, and scrumptious desserts! Everything is delicious, and the prices are more than reasonable, outstanding value! Highly recommend making a reservation, especially on weekends. You can BYOB; however, their wine selection is impressive as well. Generous portions, secure parking, and impeccably clean restrooms. Servers are always friendly and accommodating, happily fulfilling special requests. Nice music and occasional live entertainment enhance the experience. The Millburn, NJ, location is equally fantastic! We always start with our favorite Arugula salad - generous portions. House salad, also incredible! We adore Garlic Old Bay Shrimp appetizers, fried calamari, crab cakes, BUTTERY lobster rolls, OMG!. For our entrées, we couldn't resist going all in! Seafood Linguine in Garlic Sauce, steamed clams, mussels, grilled salmon, and lobster tails with crabmeat stuffing (seasonal). If you don't see something on the menu that piques your interest, just ask your server if they can prepare it for you. What impresses me most is Greg's attention to detail, passion, and creativity in delivering exceptional, high-quality food, ensuring each guest feels welcome and appreciated. “Adorable and delicious stall near the center of DeKalb Market. Very reasonable prices, generous portions and options for all diet preferences. My husband and I split the fish + fries bucket and were blown away by all aspects. The fries were perfectly crisp and the addition of the spicy option, which had an excellent sweet undertone, kept us going back for more. The fish was fresh, flaky, and perfectly crisp. We opted for the garlic chili and sweet chili dipping sauces and both were packed with flavor and complimented the fish perfectly. We opted to sit at their side counter and it was a perfect, intimate atmosphere with great people watching for our date night meal“

“Always friendly and service is good. Food cooked and ready for pickup promptly. I love the board where you can add a sadaqa (charity) meal for someone to eat. You purchase an item on the menu and pin it to the board. When someone comes in who is needy, They just pick a ticket from the board and they can eat. What a novel idea to spread around.“

“Great happy hour spot, me up with my husband here since it’s close to his job. Delicious comfort food. We had the chicken quesadilla, caesar salad, tavern burger, and french fries. The burger was our favorite. For cocktails, I had a moscow mule and my husband had an old fashioned. Service was good and super friendly staff. John was our server and he was on point. Love the ambiance, it’s a three level floor with a rooftop biergarten. We went on a Tuesday when the weather was 90 degrees, only complaint it was so hot inside with no AC. My husband went back again the next day with his friends, he also said there was still no AC that evening. We had a good time and would still go back.“

“The best fried fish in town. Small husband and wife joint. Nothing fancy to witness but you can appreciate the food they serve it’s such a hidden gem and it’s my all time favorite spot. Took my friend here for lunch today for the first time and he said the best beans in this area hands down.“

“Just Go!!! My family was in New Jersey for a church event and I jus googled a seafood place and this came up. I was skeptical at first since it was 30 minutes to closing but they did not disappoint!!!!! My mom got catfish nuggets, yams and broccoli, I got catfish nuggets yams and mac and cheese !!!! And I got fried fish and sweet potato fries for my son. Everything was fresh and tasted amazing !!! The nuggets were seasoned perfect and a nice portion, the yams were perfectly seasoned and not too sweet. The Mac and cheese was good also!!!! The gave us there house sauce to try I forgot the name but it’s like a cajun maple sauce brown in color and it’s A1 on the fish OMG !!! It was closing time so there wasn’t any other customer but it smelled clean and looked neat. The lady that took our order on the phone was very pleasant and went over the order to insure in was accurate, when I arrived at the restaurant I checked since we were heading back to Long Island andeverything was correct and smelled amazing… if your in the area Go there. I wish I had got the banana pudding to try!!!“

“I'm not sure if it's a store tradition, but I should have known that you were going to serve me cold mac and cheese. Overall, the fried whiting dinner was excellent, and the fried shrimp dinner was passable but a little overcooked. Nevertheless, I gave you guys four stars without a doubt.“

I got the rice once. It was over seasoned and salty. Who puts raw seasonings on rice after cooking it? Gross.

I also got the collards once. Pretty good.

“Someone told me they had really good fried fish so I had to check it out!! Turns out it really is good! I got a 3 piece whiting with rice and a can of soda it came with bread and coleslaw it was under $12!! amazing deal! My one negative is that I bit into the fish and I had a bunch of bones in my mouth but it wasn't throughout the whole fish. Would definitely return“

“I’m surprised at how fresh and how well the food is made here.I honestly thought this place would be like a regular chicken shack that’s why I never ordered from here.I was expecting greasy wings with soggy oil filled fries. BUT NO! So much better than I expected!The fries were crunchy and not greasy. The wings weren’t oily and they were fried perfectly!If I order fast food again I will definitely order from here.I’m glad they don’t add salt to the chicken and fries. You can add to your liking. But it’s so good a little pepper sauce or ketchup is all you need if not plain.“
