I usually order the lamb vindaloo, but went out of my way to try the biryani this time (goat), which came with some yogurt based sauce. If in a group get the bread basket rather than individual bread orders.“

“Solid joint to get your uttapam, dosa, idli, vada fix. Chutneys are made properly, sign I look for in good South Indian joints. The Sambar was also great- flavorful with veggies and not like the watery stuff you get in many joints.

Rex was very open to our ideas and also complimented with his own based on his experience. On the day of the event, Rex, Asin (main server), and other staff took care of every minute details to ensure our guests had the best time. The food was amazing as always and service was phenomenal. Very rarely, you see the entire team is focused on ensuring every guest has wonderful time and that too with very infectious smiles they had for the entire duration (3 hours). The staff went out of their way to help us find the vegan options on the menu, and when they were out of some ingredients to make certain dishes (it’s Diwali, and so it’s a busy time of year) that featured mushrooms and tofu, they actually custom created a dish so that we could try more of what they have to offer. My husband and I stumbled into their location in New Hyde Park more than a decade ago and every time we were in the area we'd stop by and clean them out of most of their savory puffs. We only learned about this location a couple of days ago by accident, and when I needed something to bring for my office potluck pool party today I knew exactly where I wanted to stop.

The puffs I'm talking about are simple: a variety of classic Indian dishes baked into puff pastry. But simple doesn't mean boring! The flavors pack a heck of a punch and they hold up really well. A few minutes in a toaster oven or air fryer make them pure magic, and if (like my husband, who doesn't care for sweet breakfasts) you are constantly in need of quick breakfast items picking up a handful of these will set you up for success for days!
