“Calling this restaurant a "hidden gem" would be a monumental understatement. We ate dinner here on a whim, and it turned out to be the best dinner we had during our trip to NYC. Everything we ate was phenomenal, especially the croquetas. The dining area is chic yet cozy, with mellow music at just the right volume. Finally, our waiter Ibai was easily the friendliest and most efficient server we've met in months; he made an already great meal into a fantastic dining experience. All in all, this place is absolutely top notch and very highly recommended.“

“Mauricio, From the moment we sat down, he was all smiles—happy, upbeat, and full of energy that made our whole table feel welcome. He wasn’t just friendly; he was genuinely fun, cracking jokes, keeping the mood light, and making sure everyone (especially the kids!) felt special.
He knew the menu inside and out and gave amazing recommendations—especially for the appetizers. You could tell he really cared about making sure we enjoyed the best of what the place had to offer.
It’s rare to find someone who’s not just doing their job but clearly loves it. Our meal was great, but the service truly made it memorable. If you get the chance, ask for him—you’ll be glad you did!“

“I called this morning at 6am to inquire how long it would take them to make 3 dozen empanadas, for a work event, they said ten mi utes! They saved my day. The empanadas were a hit at work! They were delicious! I bought chicken, beef and cheese! They’re affordable too! Gracias! 🙏🏽 I’ll be buying from here again.“

I opted for the Philly cheesesteak and loved it! It wasn't overwhelmingly large or greasy. As for the chicken avocado wrap, they peeled the avocado right there! ? It felt healthy and quite filling.

“I like how it's a diner with counter and booths, the food is good, prices reasonable, always clean. I did take off a star because their personalities could be friendlier, no one says good morning or afternoon, hardly ANYONE smiles, there's no greeting you which would be nice to be acknowledged when you are there.“

It is a good service, the people are very helpful, happy, they make the client a family atmosphere. “Excited to eat at Mi Familia Restaurant. The food is Authentic and flavorful! I've been coming here for so many years. As you walk in your are greeted immediately, the staff are very attentive. I was there last week ordered white rice with beans oxtail and barbeque pork spare ribs. Food was delicious!!! Not to mention this is where I get my churrasco (skirt steak) with tostones and freshly squeeze orange juice. Stop by Mi Familia Restaurant and enjoy some Dominican Soul Food!!“

“I reserved a table for 7 but I didn't let them know about the 2 kids, they were able to change the table to a corner booth so the kids can sit comfortably in such short notice on a busy Saturday. Amazing birthday dinner for my daughter who turned 20. Thanks for making it special.“
“Dominican breakfast is good, this is the first place I had ice coffee with cinnamon! Haven’t had ice coffee with out it since, the steak sandwich is good also

“The chicharones at this location is absolutely the best around the area. My first time there they made sure I was well taken care of. They even went above and beyond by cooking new pieces of pork for me so that they can be fresh. The pieces of pork was just right with the right amount of meat and fat. Usually places I’ve tried had so much fat that I don’t get to enjoy the chicharones but not this location.“

“Fresh food, great prices, big portions.Empanadas anywhere in the BX are $2-$2.50. here they are $1. Everything here was priced more affordably compared to any of the other Dominican spots on 138th street and in the neighborhood. Big plates. Also, they cater to the blue collar crowd. Lunch food is ready by 9:30AM. Perfect lunch spot if you're a city worker, construction, etc.“
