I did take off a star because their personalities could be friendlier, no one says good morning or afternoon, hardly ANYONE smiles, there's no greeting you which would be nice to be acknowledged when you are there.“

“I don’t have enough words to express how amazing the staff is and how excellent the food is. The attentiveness is marvelous. After coming from a bad experience elsewhere, this restaurant and their staff never fail. I’ve been here many times and haven’t had a single bad experience.
The only reason for a 4-star atmosphere rating is that the takeout area is combined with the main seating area, which takes away slightly from the elevated experience they are trying to create. Otherwise, flawless!“

“Fresh food, great prices, big portions.Empanadas anywhere in the BX are $2-$2.50. here they are $1. Everything here was priced more affordably compared to any of the other Dominican spots on 138th street and in the neighborhood. Big plates. Also, they cater to the blue collar crowd. Lunch food is ready by 9:30AM. Perfect lunch spot if you're a city worker, construction, etc.“

“I’ve been visiting this restaurant since I moved to the area, and I truly have nothing but great things to say. I’ve come during different shifts, and the staff has always been kind and helpful. I usually visit at night, and Wendy is typically my server — she’s always attentive, friendly, and makes sure everything is perfect.

The food is amazing, and if any mistakes are made, they’re always willing to fix them quickly to make sure you’re completely satisfied. Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant whether you’re grabbing a quick bite or stopping by for lunch during the less busy hours :)“

“Yesterday I placed an order for white rice, beans and baked chicken ❤️❤️it was not good it was great❤️❤️❤️I highly recommend it. Today I ordered the Mangu, salami and fried cheese. “Dominican breakfast is good, this is the first place I had ice coffee with cinnamon! Haven’t had ice coffee with out it since, the steak sandwich is good also
(If you left a low rating your a weirdo, this is a neighborhood store that sells Dominican food, it’s not a 5 star restaurant) I always come when I’m in the area and I’m black not Dominican but still enjoy the food“

“This place is a hidden gem. I wish I knew about this place earlier . I ordered the Beef Stew with white rice and beans and let me tell you it tasted like my parents made it. The stew sauce was saucing and it was thick pause . New customer for sure ! I recommend to come in and eat next time I know I will ! Don’t for get the Passion fruit juice !“

“Vaga Alta Sports Bar near Yankee Stadium is a solid spot to hang out before or after a game. I stopped by and grabbed a Stella—served in a clean, cold glass, which I appreciated. The prices are decent, though I didn’t explore much beyond the beer. The menu’s got a ton of options if you’re hungry. The bartendress was gorgeous and super friendly, which made the vibe even better. With at least a dozen TVs showing different sports, it’s a great place to catch some action. Four stars—definitely a nice holdover spot!“

Rosa was extremely hospitable, she kept checking up on the table making sure the food was hot, tasted good, and continued to make sure my beverage was never left low!!! People were very nice, warm and welcoming. Since we were just passing by we ordered to go….
We tried the smoothies 6 & 7 wow… really refreshing and yummy for the summer.
Food is delicious.
Paid $40 for two dishes and 2 smoothies.
I think it was a great deal.
As I waited I grew “HUNGRY” for all the bites and fried pastelitos they were taking out…so I feel for the PALITOS
De queso… they also gifted me one to try with the sauces…
And excellent experience. If I lived closer I will come often!

“Honestly, this is one of the best Dominican restaurants in the city, but what really won me over was the beans. They're so good and I never really go for beans at most restaurants. Only thing that holds them back is the lack of chicken on occasion.“

“Had the Mangu (3 golpes) and chinola juice. It was good not great considering the $17 amount. The portion was on the medium to large size considering it’s a Latin restaurant and they usually serve way more than enough for 1 person. The service was good, friendly staff with a smile.“

“Everything is price high here but for the most part food is good, busser are great, to go staff- great. But Servers hit or major miss. Restaurants is kept up well. Bathroom always has a small issue (no oaper, ,no hand towels, toilet doesn't flush,or toilet is leaking) but staff tends to it quickly once you make them aware.
Chicken is definitely a very good staple here more than other Malecon restaurants.“

The food here is like the kind that your mother cooks, it doesn't feel nothing like a restaurant and that's what keeps me coming here over and over again. Aside from how good the food tastes here, what differentiates "La Vecina" from the rest is the variety of dishes they have everyday and again how great it tastes.“
