This eatery is a hidden gem in the mount Haven section of the BX...who knew!? Love the rustic casual ,chill vibe & the rooftop seating on a summer day is everything. I'm going to add a little more context to avoid someone reading this, getting excited, and ending up disappointed.

The food doesn't try to imitate meat, though some of it tasted like sausage and could pass. Instead it is full of flavor without things like cheese and excess salt, which is generally bad for you. It's seasoned with real herbs and spices, not fatty sauces or butter. It has the kind of ingredients I would eat if I were a rich athlete or hired a personal chef: healthy and tasty.

“I came here regularly when the original owner George was in charge. Charming guy who stopped what he was doing to yell Hello to everyone who walked in. The food was regular diner food that he elevated. Huge portions and decent price. He retired or left and people who worked for him took over. I rarely go now. Food is decent but prices went up and portions are smaller. The servers are good and personable. Place seems to always be busy since there are several schools and offices in the area. Still decent but you don't get as much value for your money and no charm and personality from George.“

“Vegan Grill is a very cool late night bodega. They sell a lot of snacks that I haven't seen anywhere else. They have a very nice vegan menu and all the vegan food is cooked on a separate grill. I got the vegan chopped cheese with French fries. Even though, it was filling it was too salty. Overall it was good.“

Picked up the food at an unassuming take-out location (there is no eating area here), and the food did not disappoint. Bought dinner the next day, and again, the mei fun, garden vegetables, and chicken w/ broccoli were cooked fresh and weren't oily at all. Great flavor, great customer service. Highly recommend.“

“The reason why I don't like coming here is because the Indian people ignore you if you're not indian .I'm standing right in line in the front, and they kept taking people behind me. They don't take the time to take your order down. Precisely It's like you're being rushed to order so that they can get customers in and out. Anyway I ordered the spinach which was okay not bad, the curry chickpeas we're okay not bad, the vegetable vindaloo was the tastiest in my opinion But the potato Samosas were very bland no flavor in them whatsoever. And The Tamarind sauce is just the tad bit too bitter for me. I like mines sweet and seasoned like the guyanese and trinidadians do it. For the most part, they do give you a lot of food and the rice is fresh, the food in general is not too salty, but it is traditionally oily as most Indian cuisine, which is fine with me 7/10 for the taste of the food, but I could care less for the customer service And the cleanliness of the place, I would not be going back.“
