“I highly recommend Vibes Kitchen on East Gun Hill Road in the Bronx! A special shout-out to Chef Andre for catering my sister’s Home Going service repast. During such a difficult time, he provided exceptional delicious food and service that brought comfort to our family and guests.

The food was absolutely amazing from start to finish. The jerk chicken was perfectly seasoned, the curry goat was tender and flavorful, the fried chicken was crispy, juicy, and delicious, and the ackee and saltfish was authentic and well prepared. The Escovitch fish was outstanding, the rice and beans and spinach rice were cooked to perfection, the fried plantains were sweet and delicious, and the freshly steamed vegetables were the perfect complement to the meal.

Our guests couldn’t stop talking about how wonderful everything tasted. Thank you, Chef Andre and the entire Vibes Kitchen team, for your professionalism, kindness, and for helping make my sister’s celebration of life so memorable. The issue is that you can’t really get what you want. Hear me out for example… you can’t get a small order of oxtail….like?! You can only get a medium size with a side. It’s overpriced. Just by looking at it I can tell it’s not even worth the price. Also if you get like a medium size meal with any meat and rice you can’t get it with plantain. It’s extra charge. BUT I WILL SAY THAT THE PORTION IS WORTH IT. THEY GIVE MORE. I’ve tried the Mac and cheese and it was baaaadd. Just cheese and unseasoned roux. That’s if they use roux. It’s oily and you can’t even see or smell a spec of seasoning. Taste like a sweet treat no shade. The fried chicken though I give that 15/10. Tastes better than Kennedys. The goat meat falls off the bonnnneeee. The rice is perfect; not too mushy and not too rough. I’m on my way there right now😂😂. Is it worth trying? Hell yeah. “Was working in the area and honestly their sign led me to walk in. I already knew what I wanted before I walked in. Staff was extremely friendly. I ordered ox tail with rice and peas. The portion was amazing for a medium and they put a good amount of ox tail. I definitely got that gravy on top of the rice. “Great little local spot I found on my FB timeline feed and decided to go myself for the Wednesday happy hour. I got the calamari spicy wings and coconut margarita. The wings were a little tough but very spicy the ranch dressing is definitely needed. The calamari was delicious fried to perfection with good sauce on the side, just wish they added lemon wedge. The coconut margarita was tasty with a nice buzz.“

“I absolutely love this spot! Any time I am in the Bronx I have to stop in and get my favorite curry chicken with rice(lathered in that curry gravy) and peas and cabbage😋…. My wife’s favorite dish is the oxtail with rice and peas and cabbage of course. Their fried chicken goes well with brown stew chicken gravy. I’ve had their jerk chicken, curry goat, brown stewed chicken, Mac and cheese is also really good. I have been meaning to try the salmon and their shrimp, I think that will be next. I will say aside from that, you can expect friendly service. Atmosphere is calming 🤗 did I say I love this place? 😬“

“I stopped by Tasty Caribbean Plus Buffet back in April last year, so I don’t remember every detail, but I do remember the plate being very filling. I loaded up on a mix of mac and cheese, fried chicken, stewed meat, shrimp, and vegetables. The mac and cheese was creamy, the chicken had a nice crispy bite, and the stewed meat was tender with good flavor.

Overall it was a solid, hearty meal, but it didn’t quite hit my soul the way some Caribbean spots do. One thing to keep in mind is that you pay by weight, so your plate can add up quickly if you’re not careful. Still a decent spot if you’re looking for a filling plate with a lot of options. 🍽️“

“Yummie is where you go for home cooked Jamaican meals in the Bx if you're ever near Bedford or Kingsbridge or on Gunhill, hop on that 28 bus and go to Yummie. Sometimes they don't ave certain foods, but that is because they're breakfast meals like dumplings and rice and peas or it is just that popular. Their business just opened in January of this year, but I am already a regular customer and have been here at least 10 times. There sauce is ALWAYS on point and if ever your rice and peas is tasting a bit dry just ask for some more and they will gladly add some more. The owners, Lloyd and Latricia (I hope I spelled their names correctly) are very friendly and I always have a great experience when I eat there, whether I am solo or with friends or my boyfriend. They already know my order, which is stew chicken with plantains. Come here to get lost in the sauce.“

They also have fresh tennis rolls, pine tarts, solara & cheese rolls. Jerk chicken empanadas are amazing!!! Order ahead cuz they do get busy! Take out only. They do have a sitting area if you want to sit and eat, but not an early in restaurant.“

This was my first time trying this location, although I’ve previously eaten at the Brooklyn location. I have to say, this location did NOT disappoint!

I ordered the boneless chicken roti for $18, and when I tell you this thing was HUGE! 😁 It was easily enough food to feed three people. The roti was packed with flavor, and the chicken was tender, juicy, and seasoned perfectly. Definitely a great value!

I also ordered the doubles and pholourie, and both were delicious. But apparently, I wasn’t done eating because I found myself back the very next day for the bake and saltfish! 😂 Another excellent choice—fresh, flavorful, and satisfying.

When the food is good enough to have you coming back the very next day, that says it all! I’ll definitely be back to visit again. Highly recommend!“
