“Never been disappointed with the food from New Thriving Restaurant here on 120-12 Liberty Ave. Queens!!! Can't get enough of the Jerk Chicken LoMein or Garlic chicken chow mein!!! Not to mention they serve you man size portion plates and with friendly/pretty smiles... I'm giving them 5 Stars on the food and service alone!!“

“If you’re craving authentic Guyanese food in Queens, Shanta’s is easily one of the best spots around. Every visit has been a flavorful journey, the food is always fresh, well-prepared, and hits all the right notes of comfort and nostalgia.
My go-to favorites?
The Saltfish, Potato & Bake, a classic done right every time
The Potato Ball - golden, crispy perfection with that familiar Guyanese touch
Unlike some places in NY that claim to serve authentic Guyanese cuisine, Shanta’s delivers the real deal. It truly brings a little piece of home right here to New York.
The staff has been easy to communicate with in my experience, and the vibes are generally pleasant. That said, customer service could use a bit of polish. One recommendation would be to implement a numbering system to manage the crowd, it does get packed (because the food’s that good), and a more organized system would go a long way.
Still, Shanta’s continues to earn its place as a neighborhood favorite. Highly recommend if you’re after legit Guyanese eats and a reminder of home.“

“I was in the area last night and passed Hacks. This was my first time here. I had Guyanese food like two years ago from an establishment further down the block. I got a small chicken chow mein. It was $10 but I used card and the fee came up to $11.22. I was told the large was $2 more. They gave me pholourie and bara to try which was nice of them. I only tried the pholourie so far. The paper bag they were in was really greasy. Overall, the staff was nice and I enjoyed the chow mein, and the hot sauce was a nice touch.“

“My wife and I generally eat for five people, we ordered 4 small plates and 2 mains, still looking into dessert. Each dish had its own layer of perfection with unique flavors and exquisite presentation. I’d say a restaurant on its way to becoming Michelin…..bravo! Oh and the ole school hip hop added to the vibe. Enjoyed this dinner date immensely!👏👏👏👏😍😍😍😎😎😎“

“20% service charge automatically added no matter the party size. The shrimp I got still had the vein in them and that was off putting but the flavors were amazing in everything that we tried. The wings are very good and the pastas rich and creamy. The curry goat is savory while the oxtail is more on the sweet side. The food and drinks were good overall and I would go back. Music is great.“

“Tonight, the incredible NYC dining experiences continued at Kabawa -- the ridiculously delicious Caribbean inspired restaurant on the lower East side. 🔥
As remarkable as I look, the hospitality was top-tier -- the kind of service that feels like family. I really could eat there monthly, it was so relaxed, comforting, and delicious. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐“

“This place was my wife and I first dinner reservation in the city during our trip. The service was so awesome I have to start there. Raya was amazing! She was a great server and went above and beyond taking my wife and I birthday pics. That elevated our experience in so many ways. The vibe and decor made the pictures standout. We love everything we ate, but the lamb chops were a standout.“

“The food was excellent. We ordered shrimp fried rice and chicken with broccoli with a side of vegetable fried rice. I am updating my review as of today 12-7-23. Food is still good. The service made me a little disappointed the other night. I was coming home a bit late and of course delivery not an option which was fine. Then you were not allowed to order over the phone for pickup you, had to go in the restaurant then wait there for your food. I am regular customer so it's not like I wouldn't come for my food. I know they have your phone number stored in their system so they know you are not a new customer. I guess it's time to keep looking for other options for the future when coming home late.
Vegetarian options: Vegetable fried rice was ok.“
