“Authentic West African food and delicious. This is a rare find in Bergen County plus there's a market next door that also has Caribbean and West African items you'd have to go to NYC to find or farther out in New Jersey. Prices are affordable too.To be frank, I know the owners and they built the market and restaurant they'd want for themselves. What I can tell you is that they've succeeded brilliantly.“
“Came here on a Thurs late morning/early afternoon. We were greeted and served by the owner, what a pleasure. The ginger tea was AMAZING, large slices of ginger were served in the cutest personal size carafes which made the tea nice and STRONG. I ordered the red snapper w Mac n cheese and my finacé had the shrimp and grits. I rarely eat all of my food but I didn’t want to stop eating. I’m not a big grits fan but these were delicious coming from a non grits fan. Will definitely come again!“
“Authentic Latin cuisine cooked by a native Dominican! Warmth, joy, and delicious food. I’ve been going for years and never leave hungry. Every time I visit the NYC/Jersey area it’s a stop on my list.Small business, family owned, local owned, POC owned, homemade, locally sourced ingredients, fresh food with vegan and vegetarian options available. Great price!Dietary restrictions: Vegan and vegetarian options available“
“Review Update:It’s 8:21 am on 7/26/23, the hours on the store and online say they are open at 8am. Yet, here I am and it’s closed. This is a little frustrating as I have no idea when they will open and well, I have to get on with my day.Previous review below:Nice to have an African and Caribbean market in the area.It is very modern, clean, and well organized. Very friendly staff as well. They honestly have a plethora of items and is pretty well stocked- but I am taking off one point as I went on two different occasions (once for potato leaves and once for luncheon meat), they didn’t have either items. I was a bit disappointed because these are very standard items in African Markets.Besides that, great asset to the Teaneck area and looking forward to continue to patronize this business.“
“Recently went back end of August I have not been here in years I use come by a lot due to old jobs. It's still awesome! Got goat, j*** chicken, and spinach patty the dishes come with rice and beans and sweet plantains. The flavor and freshness is top notch. I always enjoyed the homemade Jamaican patties they make here once you try them you will always want them like this. The prices are very fair and the dishes come in a variety of sizes to choose from.“
“Excellent Jerk Chicken as always. Portion size is good. Although there is complaint about customer service. I don’t come to restaurants like this for customer service. I come, pay, get my food and leave. The business model is not complicated. If you want customer service go somewhere else. I come for authentic Jamaican food. At least as close to it as possible.“
“The place is super busy! Someone said they could do better? They run out of items due to such a high sales rate. That's not their fault, people love their food and buy it. I'm a white guy, I've eaten their curry goat, ox tails, j*** anything pork, chicken, shrimp. The patties sell out everyday. They could do better? No mister customer you should do better by yourself and call ahead! I've been going there for 4 years NEVER A BAD MEAL!“
“I like having choices and something different, and I get it here. Today, 3/4 I'm doing an adjustment to my comment. Your workers are very unpleasant, especially the cashier. They need to be more customer friendly, and more patient with the customers. I've been a customer since the grand opening, I was there for it. I drive distance just to support.Vegetarian options: Options are good“
“I cannot say enough about this exceptional restaurant. I have been following the chef for some time and finally was able to get a reservation for my anniversary. The location is in the middle of Lincoln Center and was beyond gorgeous to compliment this equally elegant restaurant. From the moment I entered, I was greeted by friendly staff who were immediately attentive and responsive and didn't feel pretentious or stuffy. I started at the bar and enjoyed two cocktails while I waited for my plus 1. The drinks were fantastic. By the way, I am a mixologist who travels to exceptional cocktail bars. This place had drinks that stood out. They were refreshing, while spirited and tasty. The nut cracker was not too boozy, but a delightful game changer like I have never had before (I usually hate this drink made by other establishments). Then, once we were seated, we ordered a medley of dishes from the Hamachi Eschovitch, to the Oxtail and Crab Rangoon and the Egusi Dumplings to start. Everything we ordered was eclectic, unique and truly melted in your mouth. Some items had a bit of a kick, but nothing overwhelming (except for the side sauce provided - beware). Then, for dinner, we enjoyed the Sofrito Roasted Chicken which was perfectly cooked, juicy and had an assortment of flavors and reminders of my childhood (just like grandma made). We also ordered Mom's Shrimp Dish which was another award winning dish. For dessert, we ended the meal with the rum cake. Spectacular! I highly recommend this phenomenal restaurant for a unique and exceptional culinary experience. Kudos to Kwame and wishing you much success.Parking: Parking is expensive. Take the train instead or a taxi. Both more affordable options.“
“Delicious and authentic Puerto Rican food. The yellow rice is soft and tasty; it is very well made. The pernil is also very well cooked but does lack a bit of seasoning, it still taste good but I think they cook can add a bit more seasoning to it and it will be PERFECT! I always feel like I am back at home whenever I order from Mis Raices.“
