This is a little frustrating as I have no idea when they will open and well, I have to get on with my day.Previous review below:Nice to have an African and Caribbean market in the area.It is very modern, clean, and well organized. Very friendly staff as well. They honestly have a plethora of items and is pretty well stocked- but I am taking off one point as I went on two different occasions (once for potato leaves and once for luncheon meat), they didn’t have either items. I was a bit disappointed because these are very standard items in African Markets.Besides that, great asset to the Teaneck area and looking forward to continue to patronize this business.“

It was a promising sign when I entered the take out location and witnessed the inside filled with customers.
This locally owned Caribbean spot hosts a cost effective $7 lunch special on weekdays from 11:00 AM to 1:30 PM. Customers have the option to choose a selected chicken lunch with rice and peas.
Beef Patty:
This golden brown crust on this appetizer was flaky. The seasoned beef had a mild kick. It was a perfect appetizer prior to the main course.
Lunch Specials: Jerk Chicken/Curry Chicken/Brown Stew Chicken
All three styles of chicken were seasoned perfectly. The chicken was tender and juicy. This is a perfect grab-and-go meal to hold you over until dinner time.
I highly recommend requesting an extra cup of oxtail sauce for the rice & peas.
Seating is limited to a few counter top chairs , so I highly recommend placing your order to-go.
A $20 BBQ jerk ribs special is also available on Saturdays. If I’m ever in the area on a weekend, I will definitely explore this deal next time!

“My wife and I generally eat for five people, we ordered 4 small plates and 2 mains, still looking into dessert. Each dish had its own layer of perfection with unique flavors and exquisite presentation. I’d say a restaurant on its way to becoming Michelin…..bravo! “After moving to Bergen County I was on a mission to find the best Jamaican food spot. I’m from Queens, NY and I miss my South Ozone Park / West NY food.
I go to a gym nearby and just randomly found this spot and thank goodness I did.
The food is really good, everything is well balanced in terms of flavor and the hospitality is great.
We’ve all seen that “we don have dat” video and this is the opposite. If he doesn’t have it, give him a minute to work his magic. Your patience will be rewarded.
If you like good seasoned food, just give it a try, you won’t be disappointed. I know I wasn’t. I’ll be coming here every time I crave oxtails and fried chicken.“

“I was unfamiliar with this restaurant, but my husband received a gift card from his colleagues at his retirement party. We came for Valentine's Day and were very pleased with the choice! We started with Old Fashioned and Fried Green Tomatoes. Perfect batter and crunch. The bacon jam gave the perfect amount of bite. Mr. TSwi had fish (sorry - no photo). I had the garlic clove stuffed filet. It was fork-tender and so delicious. Potatoes fried in tallow butter were decadent. We had the Bread Pudding for dessert - and the leftover for breakfast Sunday morning. Overall, great value for the quality of the food. Not ridiculously expensive. Not ostentatious (TSwi wore jeans and a blazer and was well-dressed compared to others.) We will look forward to coming back again soon.“

“Oxtail was a 10/10, absolutely amazing, and all the sides were great. I wasn’t a big fan of the brown stew chicken (the chicken itself was a bit dry), but the stew was rich and flavorful.
The atmosphere was perfect for a date night or a calm dinner. The owner’s wife even stopped by to let us know they have jazz on some Fridays and weekends, which was a really nice touch. They’re still new, so please be kind — but the FOOD WAS GOOD.We also tried the mango mint non-alcoholic drink, which was refreshing and delicious. Definitely worth checking out!“

“My opinion is 8.7/10. Is it the best Jamaican beef patty I've ever had? No but overall our place that makes handmade Jamaican beef patties with a good overall flavor I recommend it. “Popped in for some food after hitting the pool - everything was so fresh. I got the fritura and was blessed with a massive portion of fried, fresh, incredible meats, cheese, and plantains. The chicken was so moist and juicy, the chicharron was deeply flavorful and had me floored; truly so fresh, tasted like a mama made it for me. “definitely the spot! I already know to call ahead for my jerk wings because I like them extra crispy, and they make them perfectly every single time. The wait is always worth it!
My go-to meal is the jerkD wings with collard greens and yams, plus extra jerk sauce on the side because the flavor is just THAT good. The wings are crispy, juicy, packed with flavor, and the jerk sauce takes everything to another level. The collard greens and yams taste homemade and perfectly seasoned.
And don’t skip dessert! The banana pudding is unbelievably creamy and the flavor is honestly 10/10. Every bite is perfection. jerkD never disappoints!“

Since I didn't have much experience, I asked Aiyana for recommendations on how much food (with variety) to feed all the guests. She was so patient and helpful throughout the process. “Another little gem in NYC, the service and staff is very warm and friendly. It's like they're inviting you into their home. There was a dj that played music to get you dancing, it was a little loud but we didn't mind it being that we don't go out often. The food is pricey but very good quality and the presentation is amazing from the drinks down to the food. Make sure to show this place some love.“

“Fresh food, great prices, big portions.Empanadas anywhere in the BX are $2-$2.50. here they are $1. Everything here was priced more affordably compared to any of the other Dominican spots on 138th street and in the neighborhood. Big plates. Also, they cater to the blue collar crowd. Lunch food is ready by 9:30AM. Perfect lunch spot if you're a city worker, construction, etc.“

“I saw that one review from the person saying their oxtail was bad, but saw a plethora of positive reviews standing against it. I decided to give them a go and do NOT regret it! Lovely little spot for a late night meal! The cashier was very pleasant with a great attitude. I came by after finding my Airbnb and ordered 3 empanadas: Jerk Chicken, Salmon, & Oxtail. This is not a standard menu option, but she told me I could mix and match :)
I loved it!!! WONDERFULLY tasty food and a perfect crisp to the empanadas - not too hard and not too soft/mushy. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!“

“Wanted to take some time to show my appreciation. My family and I were very pleased with our selection of this establishment for our repast service for my mother. The owner was very accommodating in short notice. The buffet that was laid out was just what we ordered. Place was very clean and the service from the staff was amazing. Really can’t say enough about that part. From the picking up of finished plates, them coming around with multiple fruit options, opening up for us 20 mins early so we weren’t in the blazing sun, and the show of support in our time of grieving. Tonia thank you for going above and beyond. 5 stars for sure. Once again my family and I humbly thank you.“

“I stopped by Tasty Caribbean Plus Buffet back in April last year, so I don’t remember every detail, but I do remember the plate being very filling. I loaded up on a mix of mac and cheese, fried chicken, stewed meat, shrimp, and vegetables. The mac and cheese was creamy, the chicken had a nice crispy bite, and the stewed meat was tender with good flavor.
Overall it was a solid, hearty meal, but it didn’t quite hit my soul the way some Caribbean spots do. One thing to keep in mind is that you pay by weight, so your plate can add up quickly if you’re not careful. Still a decent spot if you’re looking for a filling plate with a lot of options. 🍽️“

“Try the codfish cakes. Scrumptious! Curry is always good and oxtails are braised perfectly. The food is savory and seasoned well. Love the comfort on the restaurant, great place to try out some Antigua cuisine. The menu has American food also. I highly recommend Cafe Metro.“
