“Searched for a resturant through resturant.com and this was one of the places. They didn't accept the coupon that was ok because the food was so great I wanted to pay cash. Nadia was the server with a beautiful smile. Such beautiful spirit. Kind and helpful. Small place but the atmosphere was so great Christian music was playing. The food was excellent and well seasoned. The portions was on point. Had the oxtail peas and rice cabbage and plantains. My mouth bus watering vas I think about. My sister had the same but salad instead box cabbage. I will return again. I will try Akai this time“
“It is with great pride and joy that I hereby share my true reflections, as it relates to my experience, being a customer at Caribbean Grill.First and foremost, I must make it clear that I am all of 100% a domesticated male, who is extremely happy that I took the time-out to learn the dynamics of being a mature responsible adult, and enduring the painstaking sacrifice of doing things the right and proper way.....If I might say so myself, I do possess exceptional talents in the kitchen, and can turn the simplest of meals in mouth-watering delicacies. That being said, the very first time I visited Caribbean Grill, I purchased a vast array of dishes and decided to have a feast, it was on my birthday, 2023.The result ? I was literally blown away by the iconic authentic representation of the cultural Jamaican dishes?I had purchased Jerk Chicken, Curried Chicken, Brown-Stewed Fish, Oxtail, Ackee and Saltfish, Rice and Peas, Callaloo and Saltfish, Fried Dumplings, and was treated to delicious slices of fried plantains on the side...(I know I must be causing somebody's mouth to be watering just about now...Lol)I also purchased a variety of natural juices, namely Beetroot, Carrot, and other types of "strong-back" punch...?I don't think I need to tell anyone that I had a feast?. The food was truly awesome.I had also purchased Jamaican style Rum Cake (some folks call it "brown cake"), Potato Pudding, and sorrel, considering the fact that my birthday falls into the last and best month of the year...Lol.Nadia and her staff are representing Yard (Jamaica) with high standards, excellent service, and the amazing quality of the food she serves says it all...Since my initial visit and purchases, for me, ALL roads leads to Caribbean Grill, located in Montclair, New Jersey. I now go there every week. The food is truly awesome, and the taste will naturally remind you of "Jamaica", and the fact that, as the Jamaican saying goes, "No Weh Nuh Better Than Yard".Blessed love to one and all..?Nadia, may God continue to bless and keep you, and may you continue to keep the Jamaican flag flying high..?.One Love...?“
“The wait for food was ridiculously long. I was disappointed they give mariquitas with mojo and we had to pay for it. The food was delicious and fried fish and pork chops recommended It so much for chicken because it was dry. Overall I would return.“
“Was there last night celebrating a friend’s birthday and we all had a time. The food was amazing, the music was fantastic, and the owner is the sweetest. The restaurant is fairly new so, when you walk in please be patient. It’s only the owner and one other woman working there at the moment, but I promise the wait is worth it! Sasha makes you feel a part of the community the moment you step foot inside her restaurant. You just have to be there to understand!“
“I love eating here. It's quite possibly the best Jamaican food in the area and in Paterson. There aren't too many cooks in the kitchen, so the quality control is high. The consistency of their fresh food is what makes me keep coming back.In my visit earlier today, they gave me the privilege to taste their newest food item, protein soup. This bean based soup is savory without using any meat. It's perfect for a hearty snack or perfect for after a workout.“
“Very good jerk chicken and cabbage. Service was fine but you have to wait. Staff very nice. Small establishment. My only gripe is I paid $10 for medium size chicken and it was cut into pieces. I don't believe it was half of chicken. Other than that it was fine.“
“This place is spectacular, I have no complaints with the service at all you can eat, as on other occasions where I have had the experience of ordering à la carte, come to Bonfire to have a very good time, stop by here to celebrate a birthday and they congratulated my junior classmate with a piece of 3 leches which was very delicious.“
“Me and my mother ate there for the first time I orderedThe rasta pasta with the honey jerk chicken breast And she had the macaroni and cheese collard greens and lamb chops not only was the food excellent? They most definitely give you your money's worth Thank you for a great “
“The Owner and Staff were so Kind, helpful and welcoming. The most welcomed I’ve ever felt in any restaurant! Ever. The Location is spotless clean, and you walk in and the smell of fresh Grilled Jerk Chickenhits you instantly.I Had the Oxtail meal as well as the Jerk wings! Both were so good!! & fresh! The jerk wings were Crispy and sauced very well! I also purchased a homemade strawberry Ginger drink, that was amazing as well. This was my first time, but I’ll definitely be back, the entire experience of this restaurant is just that! An amazing experience, even for takeout! You’re treated with kindness and so much gratitude. You will not be disappointed by this place.“
“The only issue was trying to get someone to speak English on the phone when I called. After talking to 3 different females, the fourth one spoke English. And the valley people lost my car keys ticket. I had to go thru all the keys to fi d mine.“
“I only have ordered on uber eats so I don’t know service and atmosphere, but the oxtail is on point. The beef patties….. wow….. I need to know what spices they useGreat food. I have ordered MANY times in the past few weeks. And will continue“
“I come to Y.U.P.P. just about every week and I have to say it’s one of my favorite places. The food is excellent, the drinks are great, and the staff is always very welcoming. My favorites are the YUPP Curry Chicken, Hearty Beef, and the Spicy Oxtail. I’m always on the go so this is the perfect lunch time meal to have. If you want an excellent patty and you want to hear some great music or even play PAC Man while you wait I highly recommend checking out YUPP! I also frequent both locations and I look forward to seeing the next location open.“
“SO GOOD AND DELICIOUS ? I’m so glad to have met fellow Montclair State University alum Andrew Barley who told me about his restaurant. I said I would come try it out and I’m not the least bit disappointed and neither will you be anything but fully satisfied. I can’t wait to come back and try more things on the menu which means I will be back A WHOLE LOT! Whether you are vegan/vegetarian or just love good food look no further for THE BEST Caribbean and flavorful dishes in Essex County, New Jersey?️??—————Sidebar?Be prepared for possible parking delays depending on what day/time you decide to come✅And so nice to have met Tessa and Mama Barley???“
“I've worked pretty close to this spot for yrs and never knew it existed (rarely take Broadway), my crew and I are working a job right up the street and decided to check it out. I've tried pollo guisado, carne guisado and of course pernil (I'd eat it everyday of my life if I could) and ea dish was outta this world. Empanadas, chicharron and maduro are all excellent too! The staff is always friendly, the food is always fresh/delicious/hot and the prices are more than fair. Once again...mom/pop spots reign supreme!!“
“Royal Taste Restaurant offers an explosive Jamaican culinary experience. The jerk chicken, boasting an authenticity level of 876%, delivers a flavorful punch. The curry goat mesmerizes with its aromatic buzz and rich taste, while the oxtail seals the deal on satisfaction. The well-executed fried chicken adds another layer of delight. With an extensive menu, this spot promises a continued journey of delectable discoveries. A must-visit for those craving an authentic taste of Jamaican cuisine.“
“We drove 40 mns to Bon Appétit Caribbean on a Saturday afternoon. I was not disappointed!Great customer service. The food was fresh, super delicious, i ordered a large duri Djondjon with chicken, they gave me enough food to feed 2 people. The macaroni salad was great, duri djondjon was awesome, and the chicken was well seasoned. The next day i went, i got again a large duri Djondjon and fried turkey, Once again, everything was DELICIOUS. If you're in Irvington or close by, this is one spot that I'd definitely recommend! They have REAL SEASONED HAITIAN FOOD“
“I live walking distance from Bekka’s. When she first opened we had some jerk chicken and oxtail. It was okay but not great. However, this morning I had the ackee and salt fish with banana and yam, and it’s the best I ever had. I grew up in East Orange and have been to various Caribbean restaurants and this was the best Jamaican breakfast ever!“
“We came for the Mofongo and got surprised by the Yuca appetizer, it tasted amazingThe mofongo was very flavorful too!One of the best Dominican spots, recommend to check it out. The food tastes like it belongs at a very upscale restaurant in Manhattan.“
“This was our second time having dinner there. We had a great dining experience the first time which caused us to celebrate our wedding anniversary the second visit. They sat us in the same booth from our original visit which gave us the same server. She was excellent the first time as well as the second. The food was wonderful and the executive chef came out and introduced himself to us (nice touch). We plan on taking some friends with us the next time we go. Nice job Coco's!“
“This is the newest Jaincan spot I’ve tried since year. And as a true jamaican, it’s a 10/10. Everything prepared here is delicious and fresh. The chef puts life in all the dishes. They serve real jamaican breakfast every morning. They even switch it up for lunch and dinner. All types of authentic foods. You will have many options aside from rice & peace and chicken. My favorite things that’s always a hit is the porridge, soup of the day and fish. Oh and they have the BEST oxtails!! I could eat here every single day. The price no bad either“
“I literally just ordered from here; the diri djoun djoun with fried chicken and a side of macaroni au gratin…. They also gave a fresh side green salad. Out of the whole meal my favs were the fried chicken(well down like I like it) the diri djoun djoun was bomb!!! And the salad was soooo fresh and delicious. TO ME AND I SAY TO ME cause everyone’s taste buds are different I didn’t like the macaroni au gratin too much cause one it had ground beef or turkey in it hard to tell being that it was well marinated into the macaroni au gratin and also in my opinion it was a lil dry (once again this is my opinion cause some might find it to be just right, whereas I like that oily and fattening macaroni au gratin taste). But do not not order it guys cause your guys may choose to differ when it comes to the macaroni au gratin. But other than that I enjoyed the food. Been a while since I had haiatian food that actually taste like Haitian food. Oh ye the ambiance is to die for fancy and upscale AF!!!! Definitely got themselves a loyal customer! ♥️“
“My partner and I decided to try this place based on the reviews and let me tell you it did NOT disappoint! We ordered the large jerk chicken meal, macaroni and cheese, and small chicken soup! This is a hole in the wall spot! Our food was DELICIOUS! I will 100% be ordering again but a LARGE chicken soup. The soup had so much flavor and the chicken just slipped off the bone! The mac also had so much flavor and was so good! The jerk chicken was a bit spicy for me but I don't have a high tolerance to spice. My partner said it was good! He couldn't decide what part was his favorite and said he would go back again! The service was great! Next time you get gas, help yourself to some hearty, home cooked Jamaican food!!“
“I must stress this to you as soon as you enter. The proprietor is really friendly! I neglected to order the stew chicken, but I did order the jerk, oxtail, and beef patties. You will not be let down! Your eyes will roll to the back of your head due to the sweetness and tenderness of the meats ???? soooo amazing!!!!!! Once more, go here if you want to enjoy excellent flavor and customer service!!!!!!“
“I visited Sarrah's on a trip to NJ with my son and it was such a pleasant, happy experience! I felt like being at an aunt's house in Trinidad. Sarrah sat us down and served us her delicious doubles! She brought us an Apple J to go with it then kept checking on us to make sure we didn't need anything else. Her hospitality was impeccable and I was left with total admiration for the service and quality of Trinidadian food I received. I will definitely return.“
“2/6/2023. Had a taste for a patty and coco bread and this was the closest place to me and there was good reviews. I got a chicken patty because it wasn't spicy and it was $3.00 the coco bread was $1.00. The beard to the patty was nice and flacky but wasn't falling all over the place it had a decent amount of filling and the coco bread had a nice fresh taste to it, the only issue I have was I tasted more of the coco bread and the outside of the patty more than I tasted the filling of the patty there wasn't much flavor to it.“
“5 big stars for Nardas a beautiful off the beaten path gem of a restaurant. Cozy intimate neighborhood Jamaican restaurant with delicious authentic island cuisine loved the food and we were treated like familyWhat could be better? Will definitely return to Nardas!!!!“
“Wow wow....freaking WOW. I ordered from here on Uber Eats and I'm always skeptical because Jamaican places are usually a hit or miss. Baby....this was a HIT!! From the moment I called on the phone to make sure they had cow foot that day, she was sooooo nice. Then the food arrived and GOOD God!!! Amazing. The Oxtail, Curry Goat, and Cow Foot....Amazing!!! Look no further!!! 20 out of 10 recommend!!“
“I have eaten here many times, and they never disappoint! I make it my business to eat from here when I come up to north Jersey. The service is always great. Everyone is friendly. The food is always amazing. I haven't gone here once and had a negative experience with the food. The curry shrimp is my personal favorite. Their desserts are delicious as well. The coconut rum cheesecake is lovely, and their new carrot cheesecake is the bomb. The prices are always super reasonable, and the portions are great. Love this place and highly recommend!!!!“
“The food is very delicious and fresh ...prepared daily on the steam table which a variety of dishes and alternate on certain days of the week but they do prepare other dishes alla carte menu...highly recommend the mangu with any sides....most problem is the place is extremely small there's no indoor seating basically its pickup and delivery...“
“Great place to grab a bite on a Friday night...relaxed and tropical ambience, clean, and plenty of seating. The tropical fruits in the fish dishes were phenomenal...added a nice element to the saltiness of the fish. Only drawback are the portion sizes on the fish. Fairly small for what you're paying...it wasn't terrible but I would have liked a little bigger piece and some more rice. However it wasn't over cooked, very fresh, and lots of flavor. Definitely a place you may want to frequent.“
“OH! MY! GOD!!!! I just ate there today for the first time taking a risk and OMG it was SO GOOD!!! Also, the restaraunt is very clean and I love the decor on the inside. Small, intimate, but very nice and welcoming. I had fried fish and Yuca and it was absolutely divine“
“I’ve had this location cater a gathering for me at least 2 times and each time has been a hit! Friends always ask me where I got the food from. The staff is friendly, professional and they know how to cook! I appreciate all of their help and I wouldn’t hesitate to use them again!“
“Hopefully rabid mobs won't do a "French Laundry" attack on my hypocrisy for sometimes avoiding places that have 3 stars yet saying the consensus is wrong on Masha & Harry's. (Minor annoying note - if you type in Taste of the Caribbean, its formal name on Uber Eats, Yelp search doesn't show it...which will be my excuse when defending the subpar page views of this post). The chicken curry from a previous order was good, maybe not better than Flatbush but I haven't been to Flatbush in forever. The revelation was today's order of doubles and bake and salt fish. For the doubles, you'll want to check the boxes for the pepper and tamarind sauces. One negative review complains about the amount of salt fish in the bake. I thought this was a brilliant sandwich. The cabbage and other vegetable items indeed have more surface area but everything was in harmony. I'll remind you that Hannibal Lecter was only in The Silence Of The Lambs for 16 minutes.“
“Aside from the place looking rundown the food was amazing my bf and his mom order a chicken and beef empanada and it was fresh and said was good I however ordered there empanada Supreme which they make on the spot and I did my vegan style no meat and was one of the best empanadas I ever had. You do have a choice to have it with chosen beef or beans as well but if you go here you should deff try the empanada Supreme. I would definitely come back here if I'm ever in the area again.Vegetarian options: The empanada Supreme without any of the protein option or you can get the bean options I did not. Due to other dietary restrictions on my end.Dietary restrictions: Can adjust to your liking if your vegitarian“
“I eat hear often and I love the Food. My job at the hospital was having a luncheon and I suggested Stars Pressure Pot. We had curry chicken, rice and peas and cabbage. Big up to the cook the food was awesome and so was the presentation. We will order again soon.Dietary restrictions: The food was great especially if you are not looking for extra spicy jamaican food.“
“They certainly is A Mama in this kitchen with blessed hand. Food is constantly good and always hits the right spot. If you don't know how to cook and your trying to get to your mans's heart. Pick up food from Mama'a kitchen and you found yourself another way?. Another Grocksmooth approval!“
“Dev’s has some of the best oxtail flavor in Essex county. Trust me readers I had to make a review on this place because I’ve lived in jersey all my life and there’s nothing I mean nothing like devs oxtail. It’s spicy ?️ savory and flavorful. Don’t hesitate to try these oxtails don’t even think just go and buy a large. Trust me people! I beg you! You’re doing a disservice not to try them at least. The downside is I was eating inside of devs and I saw roaches I haven’t seen a roach in years so I was shocked, didn’t stop eating my food though I finished it and said I can’t comeback after I was done. This made me angry ?because I really love the oxtails. I’m tempting to go back as to that was a few years back but I just can’t and it’s hurting bad because there’s nothing close to the oxtail. I’m what you call a raving fan when something is good it’s good. People’s choice golden crust tasty you name them all, none can touch devs oxtail. I’ve been to all the spots and this is number 1. Munchies in south orange was good too but she closed so now I’m starving out here. The owners of dev do something renovate find another location your product is award winning. Never change if they don’t like spice then let them go else where.“
“I really enjoyed the jerk chicken and cabbage, it was amazing! My son had fried chicken and a fried dumpling, he said it was delicious. My only complaint is the white rice, it was a little too overcooked. Overall, I would definitely eat here again?“
“I love coming to this place every time I visit Newark, New Jersey. The food reminds me of the motherland Nigeria. I love the fact they have special soups for everyday of the week…Mon-Fri and they all taste amazing. I do recommend their Efo-Riro you can never go wrong with that meal. And their Jollof Rice is practically the best Jollof in Newark. Don’t argue with me argue with your mother oooo. But sincerely if you want a good naija meal and you are in the Newark, NJ area stop by you won’t regret. ??“
“I know that Irvington definitely is a stop everytime I am in NY,NY and NJ because of Big G Jamaican. It’s the best feel to dine here as it’s like eating home. Dig the vibe; folks outdoor chillin, plenty of seats inside and man that jerk sauce be ? ? that oxtail melts in your mouth!! The jerk is always fresh off the grill and don’t get me started with the chicken patties!! I’ll keep making trips here - give thanks for the great hearty food!“
“I ordered on Uber and food was great but extremely spicy for me.I called the Supervisor, she was very pleasant and understanding. Let’s just say they have a new fav customer… I didn’t catch her name . Thanks so much, and to the young lady at the counter thanks much very pleasant as well.“
“Overall food is good and decent portions. My main complaint is that it’s inconsistent. I’ve had food from here multiple times, mainly due to convenience but stopped going for a while when I realized the food wasn’t always made the same. The rice, cabbage etc is the same but I’ve had oxtail, goat, curry chicken, stew chicken, ackee & saltfish and seems like sometimes they’re a hit and other times a miss. I haven’t put my finger on if it’s different chefs or the same one changing it up on me.“
“Oxtails rice and peas with cabbage and plantains was a good . This was my 1st time eating here and they definitely did not disappoint.Nice size portions, so flavorful, oxtails were so tender and juicy ,everything was seasoned to perfection, plantains we're actually sweet just the way I like them and the lady who answered the phone was very polite .I will be ordering again“
