“The joy I’m feeling as I type this review is indescribable. FINALLY, I have found a PROPER Jamaican restaurant with PROPER JERK food and for a reasonable price. The chef is in the back GRILLINGGGGG that meat- oxtail, chicken, goat meat, beef ribs. Meat, that I as a Jamaican, never imagined could be jerked, they jerk and it’s delicious. The flavors and the tender meat- just wow. SB: If you dont like sauce, just be sure to ask for some on the side because they automatically put it on there.

This is literally a gem in for the state of NJ for sure. I’m telling ya’ll, I have been to MANYYYYY restaurants and the jerk is always baked. People are out here eating baked chicken, calling it jerk and NO THANKS. If you want real, authentic, Jamaican jerk, this is the place to go. I promise you won’t be disappointed. “Bought doubles and a curry chicken wrap roti and this was ones of the best tasting wrap rotis I've had in awhile. The curry itself and the inside condiments were flavorful and very tasty. The doubles as well was very good. Only tried these 2 items but I'm sure the rest of the menu items are just as delicious. Would definitely recommend and would be going back.“

“My husband and I went here after monster jam, saw that it was within waking distance of the prudential center and we decided to go check it out.This restaurant is beautifully decorated! There were many places to take photos, a lovely seating area with comfortable pillows, and there was a wall of fame of various Caribbean Islands. We ordered food to take home with us to eat during the snow storm. The meal brought my husband to tears giving him a nostalgic feeling of home. We will return again!“

“I drove from Boston to New Jersey for the Memorial weekend, i intended to vigorously eat my country made cuisine and Lakay Restaurant met all expectations. The ingredients was purely implemented with love and the right dosage. The griot was well fried, the djondjon rice had the authentic taste. The manager accommodated my patience with a Haitian mac and cheese(Delicious). The only recommendation is that the menu is not displayed whether digitally or physically but if you know your Haitian Meal that is the place to be.“

“First off, I want to say that I never planned on stopping in. I was in the area because I was touring and Dean greeted me with a smile and a wave from the window. When I came back around and let him know I was interested in the menu options, he started tell me about his discounts and promotions. Unfortunately most of those things were meet, and I'm vegetarian so I asked if he had any vegetarian options and that I was hoping for patty and plantain.

He told me he did have callaloo+ kale and an ackee patty. He made them himself, and even gave me a complimentary drink. I chose sorrel, one of my favorite drinks growing up.

He packed them neatly and gave me some extra bag so I could carry it, and when I finally got to the house I was able to take a bite of each patty. At least I planned it to just be a bite.

When I tell you the flavors, the creaminess, the reminder of home just slap me in the tongue! I was in heaven. The sorrel was surprisingly sweet and delicious and I had to force myself to stop drinking it so fast. If I hadn't been so hungry and the food wasn't so good. I would have some pictures to show y'all, when I say I tore that food UP. I did not get paid for this, he did not ask me to write a review, but the food was just so.dang.good.

“The food here is sooo good. Me and my friend were recommended to come here and get something for our Halloween movie watch party. So we said why not? We were not disappointed in the slightest bit. You can smell the food down the street and the atmosphere when you walk in is 10/10. The staff inside are so nice. The portion are hefty and plentiful. The food was so delicious. I got their shrimp, fish and wings plate with fried okra, potato salad and sweet potato fries. But this last time I got dried up chicken, two dry legs, and a thigh cut in half, in all three of my food. Stop cutting corners. It only ruined your reputation. You're good the way you do things. “I had an amazing experience here. The food is truly authentic and tastes like real home-cooked Jamaican meals. The curry goat is exceptional—perfectly seasoned, tender, and full of flavor. The rice and peas with the brown rice was absolutely amazing and paired perfectly with the meal.

What also stood out was the service. The staff is patient, welcoming, and very helpful. They take the time to explain the dishes if you have questions and are incredibly flexible and accommodating. You can tell they genuinely care about their customers and the experience they provide.

“I went here and tried their oxtails and rice and peas, which the oxtails was so fatty for $25. The Rasta pasta with your chicken was delicious. The chicken was so juicy and tasteful. The mac & cheese was OK out of 5 I’ll give it a 3 it is better than a lot of Jamaican restaurants that sell mac & cheese. They do not know how to cook mac & cheese but all I all theirs was ok.

The fried chicken was OK. And I also ordered my Aunt oxtails and rice and beans which my total came up to $100. Plus I got two of a juices for eight dollars which I did not like so $16 went down the drain. The oxtails were flavorful but super fatty. How are you selling small fatty oxtails for $25 with so much fat on them is ridiculous to me. Overall, I will give this place a 4 out of 5. The only reason why they’re not getting a five is because I did not appreciate those oxtails being fatty.“
