“This small diner is serving huge flavor, and I'm here for it! Stopped by for this chicken and sausage combo, which came with half a chicken, a thick sausage link, rice, and beans, all for just $15! The chicken was charred grilled and smoky, the sausage was very meaty and svaory, and the rice and beans were just top notch. I also added some sweet plantains and they were nice, firm, and just the right amount of sweet.

The whole experience felt like you're eating at someone's house. Very reasonably priced, great service, and I can't wait to come back!

“The food was delicious and the portions were generous. We ordered the chicken with beef/pork ribs family combo and it fed 5 of us with plenty of food left over. We did prefer the pork ribs over the beef ribs but everything was delicious. The French fries were crispy and the rice was nicely seasoned. The staff was super friendly. They offered us extra sauce and utensils and were willing to help my husband take the tray and drinks to the car.“

“McWhorter BBQ is a low key Portuguese bbq spot in the middle of Ironbound. The pork ribs are great the charcoal and saltiness was perfect and the fries were really good. You can’t beat the prices for this area. The service was great and my experience was good but I have one complaint and that is the rice it tasted fishy almost like it was boiled in the same pot as they would boil seafood. If you order fries get a salad or beans on the side and not the rice.“

“First off, I was met with by a staff member in a cowboy hat (LOVE!) The booth was so soft and comfy and the table stands are ornate. I had the short rib and the meat was fall off the bone delicious! It was so tender and the sides were so plentiful and delicious. Each side had something a little different to pair well with the meat; sweet, salty, savory! I also had the shik Karak which was a delicious tea and for dessert, I had a banana crepe drizzled in chocolate. They do have a flair with food and I will definitely be back here!“

“Small place ran by a lovely couple with all the signature classic Romanian dishes! This place is a complete hidden gem! The eggplant salad starter is just like my grandmother and mother make, the meats are excellent - portion sizes are huge and everything tastes like a solid Romanian place on my visits to Romania. “Best fried chicken around. We ordered the 6 piece meal and the pieces are huge. Friendly staff as well. Also tried the fries, mashed potatoes, and coleslaw as sides and can't complain about any of them. The one drawback was the jumbo shrimp was a bit on the salty side. Parking in the back. Pricing is great especially these days. All the food is made to order so be prepared to wait 20-30 minutes if you order there but it's def worth it. They have a high chair as well for those who need one.“

“I just wanted to clarify myself to the worker in that restaurant especially the one in the front. We went at the restaurant today around 2pm. We went inside the restaurant and did not talk right away to let them know we were 2 customers, instead I stopped for a second and checked if we went to the right door. The worker in the front thought that we went in there to look for a guy and be with guy and do something. I just wanted to let that worker in the front know that we went there to eat and not to look for a guy. When we finished eating, that worker in the front got replaced with a young guy. I just don’t want the worker in there to think that we went there to look for a guy. We love to go to the church. Now a days, it is very important to do the right thing. We have a song in the church “choose the right.” Don’t judge the people by just physical appearance.
But other than that, the food was delicious. I highly recommend the restaurant.“

The seasoning and charcoal taste was amazing, the fries were crispy, however the rice is pretty bland. My server was excellent and the prices are very reasonable. This is one of my favorite spots in Ironbound and I would recommend that you check It out.“
