“A hearty welcome to the newly re-opened Boathouse Cafe - now in previews w new management! The place was hopping, always a glamorous venue. I liked the wine list by the glasses, prices for everything were very reasonable! As we were dieting, I can't comment enough on the food, but big portions, well -cooked, coming out on time - a lot to ask for pre-opening! Best of luck to you and the New Yorkers who love that spot!“

“Wowwww I was surprised by the taste and size of the dishes here at this place. It is a bakery where it serves breakfast but also lunches and main dishes of Peruvian cuisine. They have dishes from 12 or 15 dollars onwards and in the bakery you can eat a sandwich for 8 dollars. Their menu is well stocked although physical space is limited and you have to find parking but I think these are normal things for a small place. But its flavor and service are worth it to visit it.“

“incredible tamales verdes, it's the only kind of tamale I really like so it's one I'm especially picky about and in all of passaic I have to say these are the best I've had. they were even good cold!!! the masa was smooth, not grainy at all, it was cooked all the way through and stuffed with nicely shredded chicken and a salsa verde that wasn't too spicy or too bland! I have to say it really was one of the best ones I've eaten and though I don't branch out in flavors I'll definitly think of trying some of the other types of tamales they have!“

Mamas Cafe Cafe •

“This place is a hidden gem. My girlfriend divulged to me that she had never tried chicken and waffles before so a quick search on yelp yielded this spot. It's a small shop. Two small tables with two seats each and a counter with four seats. When we got there, a few regulars were sitting at the counter chit chatting with a gentleman behind the register. The environment seems loose and casual. Johanna or, Big Mama, as they call her was in and out of the kitchen preparing a few dishes. The place was clean. Obviously, my girlfriend ordered the chicken and waffles and I did the same. It included two pieces of chicken and Johanna gave us the option to pick the pieces. We opted for a breast and a wing, each. We also ordered a small order of mac and cheese. Not that I would have ordered a second side but I was surprised that mashed potatoes was not on the menu. Everything was made to order so we waited about 15 minutes. I watched as Johanna made each of the waffles, so definitely not frozen. When she brought out the mac and cheese I was surprised by the size; definitely a bigger order than I expected. The chicken was great! It was seasoned perfectly and nice and crispy. The waffle was well made and complimented the chicken very well. The mac and cheese was tasty, lots of cheese and seasoned a little bit; very good. So two orders of chicken and waffles, a small side of mac and cheese (although it was actually quite a substantial order) and two bottles of water for less than $20. Can't really beat that IMHO. Johanna was cordial through out our meal, making small talk and asking how we were doing. Both my girlfriend and I left quite satisfied and will most likely stop by again when we're in the area. Note: I took notice of a fried fish sandwich that a gentleman had order when we first walked in the door. It's looked very good and I'll most likely order it the next time I'm in the shop.“

“Amazing food, drinks, and service! The birds of paradise drink was amazing if you like a little spice. They brought out bread (including gluten free bread) with a dipping sauce of olive oil, garlic paste, and peppers that was incredible. We split the caviar topped tater tots, tuna crudo, broccoli (served over yogurt, so unique and one of the best veggie dishes we’ve ever had), and the limone pasta on a gf noodle (gf noodle made in house and my non-gf friend said it was amazing pasta even among non-gf. Every bite was amazing. Top tier service. So knowledgeable about dietary needs. Cute ambiance. Can’t wait to return!Dietary restrictions: Very gluten free friendly! Can modify almost every dish. Very knowledgeable about ingredients, shared fryers, etc.“

“Wonderful dining experience! The space is small and cozy, the cocktails delicious, and we were treated with such warmth, kindness and respect, like we were in someone’s home. This is how dining out should be. The seating can get quite tight later into the dinner hour, so try not to bring big coats or bags! They will check them for you downstairs though, if you’d like. Also get the bread with butter, it’s the most delicious butter I’ve ever tasted. No diet-just do it!“

“Come for the space, there's a lovely enclosed patio in the back! Stay for the pizza and the drinks, both of which were surprisingly good. Be warned, however, that the menu is a novella. So many options, it's approaching overwhelming. If you like Neapolitan-style pizza, you'll definitely enjoy La Lanterna's. It was the right chewiness, and the toppings and sauce were tasty. I also had one of the many available adult beverages, opting for a hard coffee. It was excellent. The cheese and pate plate was good -- the bread it came with was well seasoned and had a nice crisp. But the presentation definitely leaves something to be desired, it definitely looked like an elementary school science fair project on the plate. Overall, good food, not too pricey, and a nice patio. Solid option!“
