“I enjoy tasting empanadas from all types of places. Empanada Mama is by far the best of any place I’ve ever tasted!! The portions were stunning, the food was full of flavor, the menu is large, and the dessert empanadas are just as amazing as the savory ones! “The decor at this morsel of Costa Rican culture is aesthetically pleasing and if you’re in the area, this is one of the better Tico spots. We watched Costa Rica beat Paraguay in a Copa America game while eating pupusas, un Casado and Tacos Ticos and totally hit the spot. Especially since they served some salsa Lizano on the side.“

“Restaurant is just beautiful. Right on the water with stunning views of NYC. Menu is diverse but not overwhelming. Guacamole, roast pork, vegan empanadas and avocado salad were all delicious. They have fun cocktails on the menu. Highly recommend.“

“I was looking for a specific type of soup, called a lot of the Spanish restaurants no one made it. Found this restaurant and from the first phone call they are truly amazing. They were very attentive to what I wanted. Quick and efficient. Another time I went to the place to place my order, even better the young lady was super sweet and the man there was so attentive to my order. Will definitely keep on ordering. Even the empanadas were made fresh. Small restaurant but excellent customer service! I ordered asopao de camarones!“

“I called this morning at 6am to inquire how long it would take them to make 3 dozen empanadas, for a work event, they said ten mi utes! They saved my day. The empanadas were a hit at work! “I found this place by a simple google search! Well it’s a gem! Everything was delicious! We had for an appetizer the empanada sampler and wow!!!! My husband had the skirt steak tacos which were delicious and seasoned to perfection! I had the city island basket and it may have been the best fried fish I’ve ever had! Definitely come visit this place!“

“We ordered carnita tacos and the presentation was very good, although the meat was a little too salty, you could eat it, the atmosphere is like a bar where you can go to talk with friends but it is also familiar. In conclusion it is nothing wow but it is not the worst either so you can pass on the customer service is good.“

Food was great. Had the chicken empanadas to start (massive!)
For dinner, had the Tacu Tacu and my compadre had the Lomo Saltado. Both delicious and tasty dishes.
Drinks were also good. Had the Gin Mule, and a spicy tequila drink (can't remember the name). Both made with class.
Highly recommend this spot to small or medium sized groups.

“My husband and I live right down the street and always pass this place when driving home. We decided this morning to pop in. I love that's it's most likely family owned as we own a family owned business also. We love to give our business to small local businesses. We ordered the chicken and rice and beans and it was well seasoned and cooked. Very tasty. We will definitely be back to try another item off the menu.“

“Great Christmas decorations. Attentive service, generous portions, and great food. For lunch we ordered Shrimp tacos (4) and beef burrito which came with a side out rice and beans. All arrived hot and had a delicious Verde sauce. Only thing is change is have a bar with margaritas!!!“
